- I've decided to compare the experience of doing a Black Mages only playthrough in Final Fantasy games. This means I need to do a black mages only run in some Final Fantasy Games. That concludes this week with our summary.
I played the IZJS edition a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure you could choose a secondary job there too. Or maybe your job boards just got larger after a certain point.
Interesting. I've only ever read about the original IZJS version, never actually played it, so I am limited to what little I remember from years ago.
Nope I have and have finished the game countless times.
No extra jobs and no board expansions.
The game was balanced around just 1 job which is also why the Zodiac version is so much easier.
Absolutely loved all the black mage challenge runs. Looking forward to more great content!
Also yeah machinist are garbage in a regular ff12 playthrough, but amazing in NG-
Give it a try if you haven’t :)
Thanks for the series. I'd love to see another one-character ff series from you, it's probably my favorite challenge format for Final Fantasy games. I've never done one-character in the Zodiac Age version of 12, I imagine it's pretty darn hard though.
Definitely added to the future series list after this.
Forgive me repeating myself from some other comments, but:
I think you might find Final Fantasy Renaissance intriguing. I would appreciate if you added that and Final Fantasy II to these examinations. I suggest it for fun, hopefully.
FFII doesn't have any kind of job system, but: It does have such freedom that you could consider your characters as being those jobs, if you gave them what you thought Black Mage should get
Either way, this has been cool, so far. Thanks 💙💙
Your series is amazing! How about testing the black mage dressphere from FFX-2 too?
I honestly forgot about X-2 until another commenter mentioned it. May be worth a one-off video at some point. The dressphere system in X-2 is honestly my favorite thing about it.
@@Xephrost_Gaming same! The dressphere system is my favorite thing on X-2
Thank you for replying ❤️
Your vocal style and inflection remind me of the RUclips channel technology connections.
fyi the '6 ways to cause instant death' is because of ff copying other games before it and tabnletop games where wizards were ballers who could point their finger and kill you, and even do it to entire groups when sufficiently powerful
If this was an isekai, then I WOULD have access to the best of everything
I feel like, without including the three Tactics games, you're missing out on about half of the black mage only runs, but that would be quite a bit of a time commitment especially compared to FFI and FFV
Yeah, choosing to limit myself to a handful of games is kind of necessary to make sure that each series I do isn't months long. And the tactics games, while great, are very long. And comparing black mages across the 3 tactics games could honestly be its own series.
Why no Final Fantasy III though?
Genuine question.
Final Fantasy 3 is predicated on the idea that there is an obvious progression of jobs. Unless the job is an endgame job that heals, attacks well with magic and a weapon, and clears the way to just attack with that, the run with one class will inevitably be long and tedious at best.
What if you did all black mages in final fantasy tactics?
(Only if you actually CAN play it)
Majestic!?
Hmmmm
Micolash reference perhaps?
Maybe just the bloodborne footage messing with me...
Need more eyes
You can never have enough eyes.
Grant us eyeesss...
You know a good idea for a challenge run? The romancing saga trilogy, but you can only use martial arts
I've never actually played romancing saga. I'll have to check it out.
