That Feather adjustable razor has some familiar features-no end caps remind me of early SuperSpeeds, the plastic base plate looks like a Black Beauty, and the black handle recalls the Slim Twist or Knack handles. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Arko is a Great Soap Turkish they used it for long time and still now it speaks for it's own..I like Arko it's Traditional Soap and Great for Price and Performance comparing the price you pay.. Cheers Alan
Just got a stick of the arko.. heard nothing but bad comments about the smell but always heard it’s a good slick soap, love it , don’t mind the lemon pledge smell..good soap and will order it again when I run low
Arko smells clean to me and I like that. Nothing special just a clean smell. I really like the tallow soaps in general. It is a very thirsty soap. I like it a little wetter for me. Wonderful glide though. I know some of you won't like Arko but a few will love it. For the price it can't be beaten.
This is my travel razor, it's adjustable, light and has a longer easy-grip handle. I love my Black Beauties but I don't want to travel with them. Like you, I try to miniaturize my dopp as much as possible. I press about 1.5" of an Arko stick into a Nivea face cream container from Dollar Tree to make a small puck, carry a Proraso travel brush (in a Walmart prescription bottle with holes drilled in the cap), a proraso travel bottle of after shave balm and a 2 ounce bottle of Skin Bracer. All set.
I like the Arko shave soap. I've found that I get more irritation on my neck when I face lather, though. I started just loading my brush and lathering it in a bowl with much better results.
I have seen some great deals on Arko shave packs on Ebay!! If you buy them in bulk like in a pack of 12, you can the cost down to just over a dollar a stick!! This soap works wonderfully!! Jim G.
I have used Arko and got good results. Only reason I stopped using it for travel is that the stick was still a little damp in the plastic container day of travel if I was shaving that AM. Curious on travel razor though. I’m tired of TSA taking my blades inconsistently. I’m taking a road trip, sure my DE comes with me. But when I’m flying, I’m always carrying on a bag and now end up taking a Mach V
The only reason I keep the Mach 3 around is for air travel. Like you, I prefer to limit my luggage to carryon; and the hassle of risking the TSA seizing my DE blades, leaving me with no way to shave is just not worth the risk. When I finally run out of Mach 3 blades, I may switch to the Defender cartridge razor for air travel. I find that Palmolive shave sticks fit very neatly in the small Simpsons brush tube. It has a hole in the top for ventilation. Palmolive smells better, to my nose than Arko. A creme might be more practical for travel; but then you have the TSA hassle again. I think you would have to pack some into a tiny little container for travel, or risk seizure.
The only thing you used that I don't have is the Feather razor, the rest is good stuff. Arko performance is great, scent I don't mind at all. Floid A/S is also a fantastic product, really makes the skin feel good IMO. Hahaha, gotta love the burn man😉 nothing like a good wake me up from a after shave splash. Nice shave 💈💈, glad you're adding to the Emporium too. Enjoy!
I use arko in my rotation. Good stuff. And I actually like the scent. Lathers great with our without pre shave. Don't let the cost fool you, try a stick, what do you have to lose.
Love the Arko. Although, once I discovered the Tabac stick, I haven't come back. Such a lovely scent. Performance-wise though, both seems very similar.
My go to shave sticks are the TOBS Sandalwood ones or La Toja. I've also heard the Nivea ones are fantastic as well. I've seen that Feather Razor before, but never shaved with it. Looks like another purchase for Xmas for me. And of course, Floid's has been a staple for years. I use it, my brother uses it, my uncle used it, and my dad uses it to this day. It's legendary. Matt, I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and to all of your Emporium and Rex associates, the same.
just back into DE shaving after decades on disposables - loving it and the sub-culture i have found on this channel and youtube. I had my first shave with Arko and loved the lather and the lingering smell is actually quite nice. I bought a Merkur 23c as my first razor back and it is working well. I have a fairly light growth and sensitive skin. Interested in knowing of other recommendations as i have family and friends interested as well....thanks for the videos!
Buy old Gillette Super Speed razors for them. It's a pretty affordable razor and it's got a very moderate aggressiveness. It has superior build quality compared to contemporary razors, which are typically cast.
Floid is one of my favorits, does smell that old to my nose, it has a great skin feel, does not dry you up, and give a nice minty kick. Unfortunately did not had the chance to try the other products in the video....
Love Arko shave soap. Classic barber shop scent and great performance. I've had the feather adjustable for over a year now, you've reminded me to dig it out of the den and use it again 👍
I use the D.R Harris Arlington stick on holiday. It is so convenient and provides a great lather and slickness too. Regarding that Feather adjustable : How do you reckon it would be shaving under the nose? I hate that you can get so much done, then are forced to 'tidy up' with, dare I say, an other razor or electric trimmer.
I've never used the stick, but I love the Arko shave soap. Old school scent, value shave soap . I have a tub on my shave den counter right now. Happy Thanksgiving, Matt.
Shave sticks are great. Have Arko and Palmolive. Wife uses Arko when she shaves with her lady Gillette blue. Put it in a twist up deodorant tube and it’s good to go.
Arko is excellent. A bit of an acquired taste perhaps and not the modern designer artisan scent profile for sure. But it does wonders. I associate that smell with a Darn Good Shave :-)
Arko is one of my absolute favorite soaps...manly old school soap smell. I’d like to try Floid but what would you compare the scent.to? Is it a powdery barbershop type or bay rum or citrus/mandarin?
Hiyya Matt looks good I am going to get one to try as I was amazed at the price on eBay hope it performs like my other old bug standard Feather razor and the AS -D2 I have as they have been great and thanks for getting me onto Polsilver too - great blades!! As for the Arko I am not a fan but I can recommend Kapo / Karo shaving cream from Bulgaria fantastic stuff
Arko is from the lather , glide of the razor and skin protection for me the best, I know it's cheap and the fragrance (which I like in the meantime) is not the Brest. I mix it with grapefruit Taylor of Bond Street. to have a mix of the good scent of Taylor and the ultimo lather of ARKO. ARKO IS THE REAL DEAL..
I like Arko shave sticks quite well but I do not care for face lathering. Just don't like it. I prefer to slice off a sliver of the soap, press it into the bottom of a shaving mug and let the brush do it's thing.
Great Shave Matt! I have been using Arko for a few years now and it performs very well. I get a great lather and I actually like the clean, simple scent. I melt the sticks down into a used plastic TOBS or Proraso Tub and lather it right out of the tub. Works Great!
Great Shave Matt! Just wondering, was the brush you used in this video a Simpson Berkeley B46 best badger? If so, do you recommend using it like you did in the video? It's exactly how I want to use it but I read that Simpson warns against heavy pressure usage like those circular motions etc :) Cheers!
Can you do a review of some of these newer companies razors such as the Leaf Razor and the Supply Razor. Also what are your thoughts on the Bevel Razor?
How does this compare to the previous non adjustable Feather TTO razor.... For travel, I just discovered the Gillette Guard....single blade , you can probably get 5 shaves out of it.... I thought it was BS but it actually works good (you should try it, maybe review and sell it (it's made in India)). Arko smell is horrible....smells like third world mop soap... I do like Floyd a lot....super mentolado!
For me part of the experience is the appearance of the shave gear - a nice chromed Edwin Jagger. That razor handle got the aesthetic of a cheap crappy screwdriver.
I always find your videos informative but there is something that I've noticed multiple times. I'm curious to know how much you spend on water each year because and for example, in this video, you've used your tap 27 times for 118 seconds, that's almost 2 minutes nonstop or the equivalent of about 2.5-3 gallons or 12 liters of water, approximately. Don't you think it would be wiser and more economical to fill your bathroom sink with hot water and use it for as long as you want, instead of turning your tap on and off several times as you did and spending more money for nothing? But of course, you'll need to change the water to wash your face after that. These Feather blades are fantastic, but I wonder how many times we can use them?
Hi there, the sink here is a theater prop that has a bucket at the bottom. At the end of every shave, we take this bucket of soapy water and throw it on a plant or grass. The water is not wasted at all. We are recycling!
@@RazorEmporium And that's a perfect way to use water, that's for sure! Congratulations! I'm impressed. I apologize if my comment was rude or surprising, by the way. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I'm still debating whether to go for the "Personna lab blue" or the "Feather" blades. What is your recommendation, please, sir?
Not trying to troll but that razor handle is ugly. Looks like a candle stick you find in your great grandmother's closet and throw away without even trying to remember if it's sentimental and/or valuable. Arko is fantastic though!
Seems appropriate to have an item from Turkey with Thanksgiving tomorrow!
That Feather adjustable razor has some familiar features-no end caps remind me of early SuperSpeeds, the plastic base plate looks like a Black Beauty, and the black handle recalls the Slim Twist or Knack handles. Happy Thanksgiving!!
I love Arko. The performance is stellar and I like the smell. I know people hate it, but the citronella scent isn’t off putting to me

The shave stick is a nice change of pace. I guess I’m one of the few that like the Arko scent.
Love the Arko. Although, once I discovered the Tabac stick, I haven't come back. Such a lovely scent. Performance-wise though, both seems very similar.

Well done Matt! I travel light/compact as well. Fantastic aftershave. Hope you & your family have a Happy Thanksgiving. Take care, Zac.
Thanks Zac AKA Champ ;)
You seriously need to start uploading again, I am missing my favourite shave channel
My student ass really thought "wait $40 is economical?" ):
Hi Matt; Great shave and soap, razor, and aftershave reviews; thank you! Nice product additions to the shop! Best regards, as always!

Arko is one of the best shave soaps out there, regardless of price.
I might have to pick that up for a travel razor too. Better than taking my gamechanger with me.

I hate the smell of Arko, as it reminds me of the smell of my primary school toilets, but cannot deny that it delivers in the performance department.
What the hell are you on about? It's such an amazing smell with a sense of nostalgia... I dunno, maybe it is a Turkish thing.
I've never used the stick, but I love the Arko shave soap. Old school scent, value shave soap . I have a tub on my shave den counter right now. Happy Thanksgiving, Matt.
Sticks cause me to spend more brush time on the face, seems the lathering is also bonus face prep. Good shaves from sticks.
Shave sticks give a great lather, no points for smell but take up very little room in the Dopp bag. I use them while traveling.
Wow. I didn't know you guy's sold Arko Shave Sticks, i may have to pick one up. 😎 Pretty nice handle on that razor too. 👍🏼

I like Arko. The Feather is nice with a Feather blade.
Great video, Thanks! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Wait so the higher number, 2, is the lighter setting? 1 is the sharpest?
No 1 milder 2 more aggressive
Never used the Arko but I have the Derby stick and it works great. I have never shaved sitting down, did it take you a bit getting use to that?
Great Shave Matt! I have been using Arko for a few years now and it performs very well. I get a great lather and I actually like the clean, simple scent. I melt the sticks down into a used plastic TOBS or Proraso Tub and lather it right out of the tub. Works Great!
Good shave, love my Floid.
Nicely reviewed Matt enjoyed it
Thank you.
Great shave
In Serbia Arco is below 50 cents per stick
Can't beat the Simpson Brush to make a great Lather.
Great video as always. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but I'd recommend the Latoja stick. Great performance and a better scent.
I prefer a faded t shirt .... I need to try the Arko stick
Great Shave Matt! Just wondering, was the brush you used in this video a Simpson Berkeley B46 best badger? If so, do you recommend using it like you did in the video? Oh ya, gotta love Arko!
This is almost my set up save the razor (I do have an adjustable though) and my arko is smashed into a big coffee mug
Nice shave 👍
I was hoping not to see you use the porasso after shave balm.... but guess you snuck it in there anyways. Arko is a fine shave.
lol i can't resist!
I wasn't crazy about the Feather Popular so don't know if I would like this razor.
Great old Arko decades old
What's the arko soap scent like? & Why did you stop using it? Cool video 😎
I always find it funny when 3 days is "quite a lot of stubble". Doesn't anyone wait a full week to shave? Those are by far the most satisfying!
Like that razor but i am not into adjustables.. So its obexa DE razor SS best for me..
Can you lather it a second, or even a third time without the resistance of two or three days growth?
Good question - I would say yes.
@@RazorEmporium I really want to try Arko. Love the nostalgia associated with it. Thanks for your response.
I love Arno soap does a great job for me
Matt is there any particular kind of brush/knot that works best for this kind of shave (pre-shave + shave stick)?
Great review Matt, what the the weight of the Feather Razor?
light!
RazorEmporium Thank you Matt, like you said a great travel razor:)
Love Arko shave stick but one shave stick that I keep away from is Derby, can't stand the smell.

Everything about arko is great besides the post shave. But I’m not expecting great post shave from such an inexpensive soap
