Hey Lena! I must say that I did not save money by getting Sisterlocks. As a loose natural, I did my own hair and was not quite a “ product junky. However, I will go on the record to say that I do save a lot of time. Thank you for giving me time to pause and assess.

My goal was hair freedom not money saving. I knew it would be more expensive because I wasn’t a salon girl. I’m loving the wake up and go that comes with my sisterlocks!

Hi Daphne, I knew it would cost, but in was also looking to save money from being a product junkie… I guess I did save on THAT part, but the reties are eating my pockets, girl. Buuuut, I’m paying for the CONVENIENCE of not having to retire my hair, so that’s a MAJOR plus🥰 I appreciate you so much for commenting❤️❤️❤️

I did not save money with that 1st year. I have spent more but less to none is spent on products since I've had sisterlocks. I love the freedom that I only go sit for a retie every 6 to 7 weeks now.So time is important to me too.

@@LenasLovelyLocs1 yes, I ended up switching to a trainee the price was almost the same. Yes it's getting ridiculous. I don't have the desire to do my own hair. I have said if it comes to that, I will probably cut them off or combine them and not interlock them.

I was a loose natural for 10 years. I went through that phase of buying a lot of products but after a while I stop that. So I didn't do a lot with my hair as far as going to the hairdresser. Getting micro locks has saved me time and I agree with one of the comments you read. I found greater self-love once I was locd. Plus the freedom to wake up, shake and go! That to me is worth it. I am 9 months locd and I intend to start doing my retightenings once the slipping stops. But locing my hair has been worth the cost of starting them and the retightenings.

Hey Lena!! I didn’t really save money but it has been planned and budgeted for. I gained on time. I did it because of the carefree lifestyle, not having to worry about what to do with my hair for work, church, events etc. I also like having an appointment and starting my hair ON time. I have also gained a “big sister” because at this point that’s the relationship my loctition and I have built. Only thing better than this in my book is a tightly cropped pixie cut.

If I got locs when I was younger when I was getting sew in and/or wigs, it would be the same. However, since moving to Texas where I was taking care of my hair for the most part with maybe 2 - 3 salon visits a year and doing my own crochet, I’m not really saving money. But the time though!!! That’s where the saving is! I can wake up and go. Wash days are a whole day process anymore. And for that, I’m grateful!

Thanks for this video Lena. Sisterlocks prices have gone through the roof. The more women that want them the higher the demand. When I got my Sisterlocks almost four years ago, I saved money. Now, it's not cost saving, however, it's total hair freedom. So there is a cost for everything.

Hey! Thanks for the discussion. When I was a loose natural I went to the salon but not every month and I was a semi product junkie especially at times 🤣. I think compared to the last few years of my loose natural hair wearing braids and other protective styles I may have saved some money. However the hair freedom and time I have now is what is key!🤗💜

Time, hair freedom, self confidence, get up and go, versatility, almost booty length hair, barely ANY products, the smile when I look in the mirror (seeing naturally me), conversations about them, & many started installs due to my passion for mine.

I haven’t saved money but I have saved time and a stiff neck from taking my braids out, combing out hair, washing and flat ironing. Loving the freedom and having my time back. About 4 times a year I would sit 6 hours to have my braids done and about the same time taking them down, and washing. I no longer have to set aside a weekend to take down my hair.

My 12 yo daughter and I both have sisterlocks; money not sure but time yes! When my daughter was loose she wore Afros and I was in the salon with her frequently with braids she is also a competitive swimmer 5 days a week practice; her hair was breaking and I just couldn’t keep up with her hair and I wasn’t doing anything to my hair i was loose natural. I’m also a licensed clinical therapist seeing clients all day; NO TIME, but now! I have time; believe it or not my daughters hair is doing so much better even when swimming daily; she wears swim cap and I got her spray from Black Kids Swim; the loctician is always complimenting on how well her hair is doing and mine on the other hand comes down around edges; her hair has grown so much so I love it; I try not to think about cost and budget that in; but we have more time and that is valuable to me

Hello Lena! I’d like to think I saved time and money. I would pay anywhere from $50 to $100 for weave plus the cost of a hair do which was about $150 to =$200 to $250 every 2 to 3 weeks as opposed to paying $140 for a retie every 5 to 6 weeks plus tip. I stand to be corrected, but if you were a loose natural whose go to hair products included some of the high-end natural hair products (not going to name names, 'cos if you know YOU KNOW), then you probably were spending about that amount yearly. I know how I used to eye certain products longingly standing in the aisles at Target. As a poor graduate student I could only ever look and keep walking 🚶🏾‍♀️
ETA: Also if you were the type of loose natural whose go-to hairstyle for work and special occasions was a weave or wig, then you most certainly would spend at least $2000 yearly. A good unit would cost anything between $300 up. So assuming that you like to switch it up, that's a smooth $1200 - $2400 in a year. Not counting the service fee and tip if it's a sew-in.
The people who definitely would be saving money are the DIY or microlocs folks.
