The struggle pony!! I can relate 😅🤦🏾♂️ high density hair is great for some things but I feel you on the cons of being on the high density side. Great video with great points!! 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Great to see you Lena! I have microlocs and man the thickness is real! I was never able to get a sleek bun as a loose natural and I certainly cannot get a sleek bun with my 10 month old locs. But I do get a great big high bun on the top of my head. I receive a lot of compliments. Shrinkage is insane! Some locs are fully locd. Started off with 12, 13, and 14 inch hair all over. Some locs are only about 3 inches with the shrinkage. One day I will have the hang time. Still trusting the process. 😃👍🏻
Omgosh! Hey, girl, heeey!! I hope you’ve been well🥰 that shrinkage is nothing to play with, lol!! I cannot wait for some hang time, girl…SHEESH! I appreciate you so much for sticking with me this long🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
I am going on 3 weeks since my installation and because I have thick hair it’s filling in very well can’t see my scalp as much I am loving it wish I would have done it sooner
I think you are spot on. I have normal density hair 3c/4a and my hair is locking but it’s locking from the top down and you can still see the “weave like pattern” on my ends. I also definitely felt that scalpy look and I didn’t see fullness until around 14-16 months. Finally, while I started with long hair, I would take thickness over length any day! Also, I always say if you want to be loose natural and not stress about your hair you want 3C hair but if you want to lock, you want 4B or 4C hair. Locks are made for my 4B/C sisters!!!
Hey girl, thank you so much! I’m grateful for my thickness, and my intentions weren’t to bash anyone with fine hair😔 and yep, I believe the locs of 4b/c sisters can take to being able to loc faster🥰 I appreciate you for commenting🥰❤️❤️❤️
Yes, low density. I agree with what you said low density can be a beast as well. Witj my hair if I don't won't the flat look, I have to do a braid out every evening. That gets boring. But I need to problem at a little product to do a roll set or something so it will last. Both types are beautiful and have flaws with locks.
Hey Tasha!! I totally understand! I hope didn’t offend anyone in this video. I was just basically stating my opinions. I appreciate your support ❤️❤️❤️
I think a lot of your points have to do with hair texture instead of density. Like bunching, slippage, how fast the hair locks, etc. also the size of the locs and the jewelry you use is more of a factor than density. I have really high density hair, but my Sisterlocks are tiny, so most jewelry will fit in my hair. I went to get my license renewed yesterday and my hair literally looks like a wig because it’s so big 😩. I do hate not being able to do a sleek bun 😭.
Hi! You know what, the texture absolutely plays a part. How long have you been loc’d? When I first had my SL installed they were super tiny, but almost 2 years later, they have thickened up quite a bit, which is to be expected. Girl, I looove big hair! I wouldn’t mines having those type of problems 😄 I’m just patiently waiting on my bun😌😁 I appreciate you so much for stopping by and commenting ❤️❤️❤️
I agree with this video completely. My hair is high density very thick and I can’t put it in a pony/bun and after a retie my grid shows now for about 24 hrs lol and the only thing for me is I have bunching a lot my hair texture is curly and little soft too so it bunches all day lol but this was a good video. ❤️
Hey thank you so much, girl! I certainly can’t wait to put my hair up in a bun😫 Do your locs bunch in certain areas of your head, like more so on the sides than the back?? I appreciate you supporting my channel❤️❤️❤️
Hey Queen we both have some of the same issues 🤣locs are swelling & can no longer fit loc jewelry, hair so thick can’t get a slick ponytail 🤦🏽♀️but loving my Journey Queen
I have like medium density hair so best of bothe worlds. Today I did a bun with a fringe in the front it was so cute 😍 my hair grows layered so the sides of the fringe were ong and the front was relatively shorter the look was so good eventhough my hair is only nape length
Hey girl!! I would love to see a pic of how you did your bun, i but it did look really cuuuute! You know what, my hair kinda looks like it’s cut in a sort of bob, but it wasn’t intentional, it’s from me keeping my hands in my hair, so I have some thinning on my sides. You certainly do have the best of both worlds!! I appreciate you stopping by my channel and commenting❤️❤️❤️
Great video Lena. I have lower density hair soft hair. I can do the pony tails and buns love them but they kind of make my head hurt like loose natural hair lol, so you aren't missing much. The bunching is getting real for sure, I'm at 18 months. I think that's from the texture instead of density.
Hi Orenda!! how’ve you been, girl?! You know what, I found that I’m more tender headed since I’ve been loc’d, but I’m stubborn, I want my ponytail😫😂 you aren’ttoo far behind me in your journey, our 2 year locaversary will be here soon!!! I don’t have too much bunching, but I am experiencing a little unraveling…. and out of nowhere😔 I appreciate your continued support🥹🥰❤️❤️❤️
I feel all this girl!! No buns or ponytail and my hair is longer than yours. Thick locs are just disrespectful and inappropriate. I want sisterlocs but the way my 4b/4c hair is setup I would never be able to keep up with the maintenance.
I have high density hair and I'm 21 months in. You will be able to do he buns and ponytails once your hair grows more. I have only been able to do ponytails for about 3 months. My hair was your length when I started my journey. It took a while to drop. I'm still giving lioness fullness.
I have low density hair and I definitely agree with what you're saying you can see my scalp when I get a retie I definitely love your hair and I love mine as well❤️❤️❤️
I have really high density hair and I am going on 6 months SisterLocks. However, my hair was 15” long when I got established. And bunching can be an issues for longer hair during the locking process. Also, having 3B to 3C hair creates issues with bunching. I have to be very diligent about monitoring my hair for bunching.
Hi Rose! I definitely agree with you regarding the length and bunching issue and with you having 3B-3C texture, there is going to be bunching😩 Your 1 year locaversary will be here before you know it, girl!!! Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting! I appreciate you ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for video..I have high density hair I AGREE with everything u said about high density hair I also suffer from lack of high n low ponytail.ANOTHER style that won't hold for me is BANTU KNOTS DRIVES ME INSANE😅😅😅😅
Hey girl!! you are sooo welcome!! I’m so sorry for this late reply😩, but I must let you knowwwww…That I can get my hair in a bun now!!! I mean it’s STILL thick as heck, but I can get a bun, lol!!! I appreciate you for commenting!!!🥰❤️❤️❤️
To Do A Top Bun With Short Locks. Make A Part from Ear To Ear. Take The Back Pull it Up In A Ponytail Up To Where The Part Is. Then Take The Top Of Your Hair And Do The Same. Once The Ponytails Meet. Take A Hair Net (you can get from any hair Store. Put All That Hair In The Net And Wrap It Around The Ponytail. Use A Bobby Pin Or Two If Needed And That’s To Secure It. Try It And Let Me Know How It Works Out. Peace And Love Sis 👑🌹🦋
Okay we damn near twins except I have microlocs 🤣🤣.... I'm definitely missing my buns and ponytails also. And I too appreciate the "no scalpy" look and the fullness is real! When I was a loose natural my fiancé called me "Big Hair" and when I started my microlocs journey he said he'll miss that part of my loose natural hair... well about 2 weeks ago he was like your hair is thick you still Big Hair🤣
Hi Lena, loved the video, me and my girls have medium/large SL and high density. We all can do ponytails and buns, I think it’s more length than density. I started 15 inches, my baby was waist length my blond 14 inches. My baby has looser curl pattern so yes she bunches and her hair wants to matte, not in a good way her roots constantly want to marry and slip. My blond daughter lox’s faster than all of us I found out blonds loc not like brunettes, there is so many factors with styling and loc’ing up. Just my humble experience.
Hi MsPepsi!! Thank you so much! You know what, I gotta agree, length does play a big part in creating buns and ponytails and I’m patiently waiting on some length, girl😩😩 That’s crazy how our hair is so different and unique! I would have thought the total opposite regarding your blonde daughters hair bunching faster than your daughter who has brunette hair🥰🥰 Thank you soooo much for stopping by my channel and commenting, I appreciate you❤️❤️❤️
@@LenasLovelyLocs1 yes the blinds loc different and that is whole conversation in itself maybe because there are less natural blonds in our community who have locs than brunettes my hair was very rusty red and it’s so crazy no one talks about that whole experience.
My locs are about the same thickness as yours, but 3 times as long. I still can't put it in a bun or a ponytail. So I resort to the half up "ponytail" instead. Oh, and my hair is stiff too.
Hey girl! That makes me sad😔 I REALLLLY want to be able to put my locs up in a ponytail. How do you combat the stiffness…..or do you just let it be? Thank you so much for stopping by my channel and commenting 🥰❤️❤️❤️
@@LenasLovelyLocs1 Trust me, it makes me sad too, but 1.5 years in, and I'm coming to terms with it. For the stiffness, I just use water or rose water. hey girl! that’s a great question. I think (and this is my opinion) maybe low density hair uses a 3pt rotation to make the hair appear more fuller. I could be wrong though🤔❤️❤️❤️
I hate the way my hair looks first thing in the morning 😩 I’ll have a cute, short bob the previous day then wake up in the morning with a helmet. I know I should embrace my locs at every stage (and I do!) but I really can’t wait until they are at least shoulder length!
Hey Kally! girl me toooo! I definitely have the helmet head going on, lol. My locs be looking stiff and dry as a chip😩😂 when we get to shoulder length, we’re not gonna know what to do!! I appreciate you so much!!❤️❤️❤️
