    Ive got a 76 f350 with a 300 in it thats had a hard life in my hands. It started life being pulled from a junkyard 85 f150, then it lived in my highschool 83 f150 for about 5 years, then it ended up in the 76 f350. I hauled a load of farm equipment to the local auction house and while i was inside it went nuclear temp and lost oil pressure to the point you could hear the bearing squeaking! I reved it back up so it would build oil pressure and cool down then proceed to drive another 30 miles home! It still runs the same as before that happend. I love the 300s as guttless as they are!

    The 300s are tough, who ever was the previous owner didn't take care of it. I got my 260K mile 94 F150 out of a field for free, I drove it out without realizing it had no oil. 3 tires and a new fuel pump and putting oil in it I drove it for a week it all the issues showed, some one did a piss poor job at RTVing an oil pan gasket on it so it leaked a quart of oil a week and when some one did the valve cover gasket they some how messed up the upper intake plenum gasket and it has a major vacuum leak from there but sure its gutless as it sits but once I re gasket it I'm sure it will be good for as long as I have it lol. Heavily thought about just doing a 302 swap because of how annoying dealing with the 300 EFI was.

    • @GasGuzler
      @GasGuzler  4 месяца назад

      I personally wouldn’t 302 swap it, from my experience the 300 is honestly quicker than the 302 and I’ve driven both. The 302 has much more power up top but the 300 was way better taking off. And if you think the 300 EFI is bad, wait until you see the 302 EFI, the intake plenum is a god awful design and you have to pull the whole intake to get to the left bank of injectors. It’s not a 2 piece like the 300 has, it’s a real pain to work on.

      @@GasGuzler Yeah I get that, I've had 2 351W efi trucks ( 90 and 94) and they where a nightmare dealing with all the 30 year old vacuum lines. The EFI design on all of these trucks did not last the test of time. when and if that 300 gets pulled (and a 302 doesn't fall in my lap) its getting a carb because the truck its in has an M5OD so no worries about dealing with trans ECU.

    i daily a 94 f-150 4x4 RCSB 5.0 5 speed and in my opinion If any truck makes it past 300k especially a gas engine than its allowed to die. What better way than to send it off like a viking? 350k its not like it hasn't had a long ass life. mine is 30 years old but only has 122k on it. so it still has work to do!

    Man that thing took a fucking beating. Now if that thing was nicer, then I'd probably keep it and take care of it. But it's pretty obvious that that thing is absolutely beat. Might as well just destroy it and sell the good parts off of it.
    I apply that same logic to my 1985 Yamaha 225DX. I bought it last summer for $600 and quickly realized why it was so cheap for a running and driving 3 wheeler. Motor/transmission are absolutely shot. Thing burns oil bad. Blew off the header pipe. Jumps and drops gears commonly. These are things that could surely be fixed, but its my machine and I'm too lazy to fix it.
    So any time I take it for a rip, I run her hard and rev that little motor to the moon 🤣🤣. I do put oil in it whenever it needs it, but that's about it. For whenever it blows up, I'm going to part out the entire ATV. Sell the good parts to people who have something more worth fixing than mine. Mine's a POS, so might as well blow it up and give others the opportunity to make their cleaner and nicer machine better.
    That's how I see it.
    PS, that 6.0 Powerstroke joke you made was fucking hilarious
