This focus group proved to me why I don't watch political media anymore. It is EXHAUSTING!! They talk talk talk and then real voters come out of the debate in mostly the same place they were in..... this debate changed nothing... political media sucks.
They were all democrats and CNN said "these arent democrats". Pathetic.
The debate made 100% clear that the Democratic party needs a different candidate.

Yep. Registered Independent here. Trump never answered any policy questions, just deflected. He had an opportunity to win over some undecided voters by offering some policy details, but nothing. Not presidential material. Guess I have no real choice but to vote Sleepy Joe.

One thing we all still need to focus on is, who will bring the right people into office? Who will actually hire people to do all the important government jobs based on qualifications and not just blind loyalty? This job is about more than either person. We need to remember that. There is still one clear path to maintaining democracy in our country.

A democracy does not protect your rights. In a democracy, your rights are limited to what the majority of voters decide what your rights should be. In contrast, a Constitutional Republic like we have here in the USA grants certain inalienable rights that can't be taken away regardless of what the majority of the voters may wish. For example, if the majority of voters decided that the LGBTQ community must live in internment camps, such a referendum would be shot down because it conflicts with the Bill of Rights.

Why do we even air these surface level debates where someone only has a short amount of time to talk about a complicated issue? Why can't you have a debate with only one issue and each person has 20 minutes to talk? How can anyone give a decent answer in a minute?

If we intend to keep letting big corporate media run these debates instead of just having C-SPAN run them in a civic center in a town of 100k or less, you're going to see these cheap, made-for-tv kind of spectacles.
No major network should host these things. Let C-SPAN host it, with a no-name moderator in a town that isn't NYC, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, or Miami.
I would have to agree. You can't ask, what's your plan for immigration. Please sum it up in two minutes.... Like.... We don't gain any info. But I think it would be really hard as well to try and respond to someone who talked for , let's day 20 minutes, you have to respond to them and say your piece.

We have to remember, the debate was timed and I saw Biden trying to get everything said before his time ran out. He was good because at no time did I hear him say he was going to take our rights away, he said exactly what I wanted to hear (talked about his accomplishments and admitting there's more work to do).

By law, if the name is not on the ballot, even a write in box with your name means nothing. The write in ballot is to write in your selection, but it has to be a candidate on the ballot, not just anyone's name.

True. He got my vote in the primary. He's still as sharp as a tack. He would have put Trump away for good in that debate. There was no way the DEMS leaders were going to let Bernie become the candidate. Some real shady stuff went on in both Bernie campaigns. I give Biden credit for one big thing --he invited Bernie to the table and listened to him. Standing on a workers' union picket line was Bernie's idea. The degree to which Biden was willing to move off his safe centrist instincts was all Bernie's influence. Smartest thing Biden has done and it shows in everything he has accomplished so far.

I can forgive Biden losing his train of thought because they are both up past their bedtime, honestly. But I can also forgive it because I trust the people in Biden's immediate circle, and the people he appoints.
Voting liberally has always proven in America's best interest, and been when our country prospers. Whichever party was aligned with liberal values at the time, Democrat or Republican, liberal policy and leadership always proved in he favor of the average or struggling American, with little detriment to the wealthy.
