Great video Matt!! Love the split screen you did with Gaia. Have to say, the Boso trail was one of the best drives I have ever done and agree that pulling a trailer would make it much more challenging (I pull a small trailer here in Canada). Looking forward to going back in November for another tour of the Kalahari. Safe travels and keep up the great content.🍁
Hi Matt. please advise your friends with the canvas bow tent to start hooking the tent to the poles from the top. I camp in one for long trips ( cape to kunnene, cape to Nairobi etc) and find it 100 % easier to work down. ( clipping the last pair of hooks when going up is a major hassle as the tent is too tight.
Matt with all your amazing camping gear, i think your next list of gear to invest in is a good set of pliers ...maybe a good emergency toolbox. Those thin pliers must have been a struggle
I have one of those spare wheel locks, to help prevent theft, and now after watching this video, I realise that the lock also helps reduce the strain on the chain.
Hi Matt Brilliant visual production thanks. Deff on my bucket list. Does the Garmin inreach not work in SA? Also heard they don't do pay as you use anymore so I will sidestep this product sadly as it is a neat piece of kit. Awesome drive footage. Cheers
Currently vehicle camping in my 2002 sleep-in Landrover discovery Ii at Bloemhof dam for 23 days, TVL side (not Sandveldt). Best damn dam to be semi wild camping at, hands down. Strangly fishing is rapid, but only small ones...
Hi Mat awesome shows enjoy your adventures specially the Namibia one is there by any chance to access your travels to use maybe get in contact with you thanks would love to talk to you
Howzit Matt, lekker trip man. What 'clamp' are you using for your phone? The one I have makes my phone looking being at a rock concert head banging through any badish road. Cheers
Hi Matt. Great video again. Thanks. What did you mean by.... the Garmin SOS doesn't work in Southern Africa? I have an inReach mini and have Search And Rescue insurance cover on top of my monthly subscription. Can you explain ?
There are posts on facebook groups about people in South Africa who have been in emergencies and pressed the SOS button only to receive an email days later stating that the service isn’t available. I’ve also had a few instances where people don’t receive my satellite messages or I don’t receive their replies. So I’m currently looking for another alternative.
I would hate to be playing my monthly subscription and SAR insurance... only to be left stranded in an emergency. It must be 100% or it's not worth it. Maybe if you only have the basic subscription, but not SAR insurance, perhaps then the SOS won't respond... I read all the documents on the Garmin website today.... it's very vague. I've always received messages sent within minutes. But I never tested the SOS. Maybe it's time to test it?
@@MSAMotoTravel From what I have read and seen on RUclips the Garmin SOS centre only inform the local authorities based on your GPS location. I don’t know, but I imagine that Garmin SOS only have a long list of phone numbers to call. The ball is then with the local authorities.
Matt I love your videos, I started watching your content on the airarms channel. ❤ Just one small thing that I noticed today and it's the colour grading of the video. I feel that it's not adding anything and the true colours of the Kalahari would be much better. Anyway, just my two cents. Love the content and looking forward to the next video ❤
Glad you like them! I didn’t actually grade this much, it’s a standard S-cinetone profile with a tiny bit of contrast added, it should look very natural. I’m curious to know what looks unnatural about it?
Maybe it's my phone screen but as an example some of the landscapes look like it has a purple hue added. I just looks a bit weird. Good example is the scene at 8:20sec. Anyway, not being critical it was just an observation. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip!
Absolutely mate, my 4th gen swb paj got rattled to shyte on the boso trail. Literally knocked a skid plate loose. Really fun drive though, keen to do it again in the fj. Love your content man, proud of you!
That Jimny driving so well!
Your excellent choice of background music made it even better. Bravo!!
Always entertaining great job Matt, love the story telling and the group dynamic...

Another awesome adventure! Gotta love the remoteness, something we don’t get to experience very much in this world.
Very beautiful trip. Well done Thanks again

That burnt vehicle is a reminder to have company when traveling these routes.

@mattdubber Thanks for the feedback. I'll do some research as well. It's concerning.
As far as I know there is only Garmin and Spot that have satellite SOS.

Unhook those swaybars in that poor truck. They are for high speed cornering not vertical 4x4in'
They were sure getting a good workout.
Gteat fix Matt. N Boer maak mos n plan. Ses bande is eersteprys.
