I've played this game many times, though it's been awhile. In seven minutes I got lost about six thousand times. Very well done. Awesome job--and congrats on beating your own record! Clever use of a turret to accelerate the last scene.
In portal, there's a very complicated glitch called "save glitch" which allows me to pass through walls/floors/ceilings. How exactly the glitch works isn't something that can be explained in a youtube comment, but if you walk up to the edge of a portal right, make a save and then load that save, then you have saveglitch. Many weird things happen when you have saveglitch, but the most useful in Out of Bounds is the ability to walk through (certain) walls and fall through (certain) floors/ceilings.
@@CantEven that's really interesting actually. It's awesome that you and the rest of the speed running community are able to find things like that. Congrats on beating your old record!
@MegaSnuga They’re still doable in the current version, just much harder. I think it’s something to do with newer versions not letting you place a portal on the exact edge of a wall by just bumping it. As for this run, he’s using an older version which doesn’t have this quirk, and also allows other helpful stuff like free OoB movement. Bumping, in this case, is shooting the portal at the very edge of the wall. It can’t be placed right where you shot, so the game “bumps” it to a spot where it can be placed. Try it on almost any 2 walls that form a vertex in the game, you’ll see what I mean. In older versions, it will be exactly up against the edge. On newer versions, it will be a few pixels away. To counter this, you need to manually place the portal right up against the edge without relying on bumping. It’s usually near pixel-perfect, so it will take a few tries.
@@SK-by6qd yeah I know I looked at a speedrunning site yesterday and found the source unpacked version, but thanks I'll try this in the steam pipe update version
