    Thank you so much for making this lecture. Because of you I passed my masters dissertation. I just found out today. You explained everything so concisely. None of my dissertation supervisors responded to my emails. This video helped me out during the pandemic when I had no resources. Thank you 😊 UPDATE: I passed my dissertation with merit!!!

    well said, thank you for making it simple and short. Sometimes I believe I have been highjacked by the academic details and terminology, and no place to ask and find simple answers. The Uni + the Panel of Supervision may well be in love with complicating things.
    Thanks again Cecile for the great efforts and level of voice which are directly and logically undstood.

      "simplistic" is a negative term. I think you mean simple or maybe even clear but not simplistic. She actually went over some very complicated processes and explained very thoroughly the steps and even the language needed to do this kind of work.

    I did a marxist study of a novel specifically hegemony but was rejected on the basis that what is my method of analysis.
    They told me that Marxism is your perspective and it can't be the method of analysis, if someone can help me what could be my method of analysis??

    • @cecilebadenhorst4997
      @cecilebadenhorst4997  5 лет назад +1

      Marxism is a perspective and it is known as that. So developing Marxism as a method of research would require a strong argument with sources. You would need to work out the step-by-step method and make an argument for 1) that it is a valid method - alongside the perspective; 2) that it is the right method for your research. You definitely would need sources to show that others have used Marxism as a perspective and as a method. See: www.leftvoice.org/Marxism-A-Method-Theory-and-Practice

      The internal supervisor today told me to use deconstruction or Fairclough's three dimensional model of CDA as a method of analysis!!

    I still can't figure out the difference between the discussion and conclusion in the abstract that my teacher has given...

  • @dracomalfidus5961
    @dracomalfidus5961 3 года назад

    One question which is very tricky to me. If I am doing empirical research and my results derive from the primary sources which can be just statistics and tables, am I allowed to interprete them in the discussion session using the secondary sources? As I understood from your video the answer is yes, because my literature can include also secondary sources.

    • @cecilebadenhorst4997
      @cecilebadenhorst4997  3 года назад

      It's difficult to answer without knowing the specifics of your project but yes you can, usually.
