- Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system. Today more than 2,000,000 people around the world have MS.
MS is the result of damage to myelin - a protective sheath surrounding nerve fibres of the central nervous system. When myelin is damaged, this interferes with messages between the brain and other parts of the body.
Symptoms vary widely and include blurred vision, weak limbs, unsteadiness, pain and fatigue. For some people, MS is characterised by periods of relapse and remission while for others it has a progressive pattern. For everyone, it makes life unpredictable.
This film is a joint project of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) and the Hertie Foundation launched on the first ever World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, 27 May 2009. It aims to capture the attention of people worldwide, motivate them to learn more about MS and become involved in the global MS movement. Show your support today! Register at www.worldmsday.org
The Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) is the umbrella organisation of national MS societies. MSIF leads the global MS movement by stimulating research into the understanding and treatment of MS and by improving the quality of life of people affected by MS. www.msif.org
The Hertie Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in Germany. For more than 30 years the Foundation has been actively engaged in MS research and in supporting people with MS. www.ghst.de
thank you for uploading this. My mother died of MS when I was eight and not a day ever goes by that I don't miss her terribly. This was very powerful and motivating thank you.
I've always been a fan of U2, but this song gives me the strength and courage that I need. I have since 2006 Multiple sclerosis. I've seen U2 twice live in Gelsenkirchen (Germany) - and I am looking forward to next concert with them. THANK YOU U2!
We aren't MS Sufferers anymore- we are MS Heroes! We are MS Survivors! We are the NEW faces of MS! I was diagnosed in '07 and refuse to let it define who I am!

Great video!! I was diagnosed with MS in Feb 2010....so it's still new, frightening, and still somewhat hard to accept. My heart goes out to all my fellow MS'ers. It's a rough road to travel.
What is there to dislike about this video? It's good people are trying to raise awareness.
This is a beautiful video - choked me up when I first saw the last caption. Living with MS for four months.
@palasmar unless you know someone with MS or have it, you don't understand. I watch my friend struggle daily with this, he refuses to give in to it and he is MY inspiration to keep going when my life looks bad. This has always been one of my all time favorite songs and this makes it that much more special! SUBSCRIBED so I never lose it!
10 years now for me...this is a great video
Diagnosed with MS around december 2011, there were ups and downs, some harder than others, but I'll always have hope that someday before I pass away there'll be a cure

@schmutzdari Hi ... no, not one of the saddest videos ... one of the most promising and powerful videos, believe me! Have a beautiful day!
Powerful.
no words Thanks
and i'm also one of them...7 months now
I am 16 years old and i have MS for 5 months (So i have ms since i was 15 years old). I'm fine now, but who knows what will be in twenty years. We will see....
I was diagnosed 14 years ago this month, Love the song and the video :)
miss you, Mike (xoXox)
@TheWillshake My Mom has had it for nearly 20 years now. There's no cure but you can get better. Primary-Progressive can go into remission. Also, if you smoke, drink or consume a lot of processed foods, if you cut those things out it can actually help quite a bit.
Wow, wonderful, prachtig!
@Netriderceo , you know, I'm dying NOW. One year, or two years - ... nor more.
Living with MS for 2 months....like wve73 said,,, I may have MS but MS does NOT have me !!!
A proto tyto věci žiju!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@shotelas35
it's a disease of the neurological system that causes it to basically destroy itself. the myelin that surrounds and protects your nerves gets destroyed by an overactive immune system and causes mixed/halting signals to the brain. symptoms like numbness, foot drop, optic neuritis, pain, difficulty using your arms or legs, or a host of other symptoms, like sexual dysfunction. there is no known cure, only medications that try to slow the progression of the disease.
@purplemyth2010 lol i do habe MS, and my EDSS is over 7. i was not criticizing the video itself, which i actually like and forward. i wrote about the unfortunate ad at the beginning of the video - i don't think any kind of ad fits here.
They're people with MS, not actors.
@stefanieweckx31
that's the spirit!. no matter how hard it get you must stay positive, kick the MonSters ass. laugh it in the face. least that what I did
spent 9 months in rehab to learn how to walk again, ok i need crutches but im walking!
Look up the Gerson Miracle on youtube and the beautiful truth
🤟💪👈
Are these actors or real MS-sufferers?
:)
true! This is a sad video! Made me very upset when I first saw it
I disagree - it's a positive video !
Do you know what's happening with them now? Especially with the beautiful girl on the wheelchair? Hope they're doing fine. I also have MS, but in Poland life with MS really sucks.
XX
an AD in a video like this? thumbs down!
🤟💪👈
