    ▬▬▬▬ GAME INFO ▬▬▬▬
    * This is a let's play of ABZU. This particular video is of ABZU Part 1 in 1080p on the PC.*
From the art director of Journey and Flower, ABZÛ is a beautiful underwater adventure that evokes the dream of diving.
In ABZU, immerse yourself in a vibrant ocean world full of mystery and bursting with color and life. Perform fluid acrobatics as the Diver using graceful swimming controls. Discover hundreds of unique species based on real creatures and form a powerful connection with the abundant sea life. Interact with schools of thousands of fish that procedurally respond to you, each other, and predators. Linger in epic seascapes and explore aquatic ecosystems modeled with unprecedented detail. Descend into the heart of the ocean where ancient secrets lie forgotten. But beware, dangers lurk in the depths. "ABZÛ" is from the oldest mythologies; AB, meaning water, and ZÛ, meaning to know. ABZÛ is the ocean of wisdom.
ABZÛ’s narrative is not told in a traditional way. There is no dialogue, and events and clues are often interpretable in different ways. This gives the story in ABZÛ qualities of a myth: symbolic elements in the game are consistently presented, but players readings of them will likely vary. By taking the approach of letting the player interpret ABZÛ’s mysteries, we allow them to infuse the game with more personal meaning. Our hope is that this non-traditional approach will let ABZÛ resonate more deeply with each individual.
    ABZU key gameplay features:
    - Fluidity: ABZU is not a scuma sim with air guages and weigh belts. The focus is on the sense of majesty and awe inspired by exploring underwater environments and encountering wildlife. ABZU is designed with unique swimming controls, allowing complete freedom of movement and fluidity.
    - Ecosystem: The world of ABZU is populated by tens of thousands of dynamic fish, all aware of each other and the diver. They follow rules that govern real fish behaviour, such as schooling and darting. ABZÛ also features a food chain simulation with predators eating smaller fish and others grazing on corals and algae.
    - Connection:ABZÛ captures meaningful and respectful interactions with creatures. The diver can reach out and touch creatures, allowing her to ride and school with them. These mechanics will allow the player to form a more genuine connection with sealife they encounter.
This let’s play of ABZU gameplay footage is blind and captured on the PC version at 1080p 60fps. ABZU is developed by Giant Squid Studios, created by the air director of Journey and Flower. Thanks to Giant Squid who provided me with a press copy of ABZU to create a let's play on. There are no restrictions placed on what I can/cannot say or do in this let's play.

Abzu is Akkadian and Sumerian. It is one of the oldest recorded words in human history.

This is so similar to Journey! It uses the same mechanisms - sounds for communication, mostly faceless main character except for the eyes, themed environment (in Journey it was mostly a desert and then snowy lands). And you mentioned the guy who made Journey also had a connection with this, so I guess that explains it

28:00 - that's a nautilus! One of my favourite undersea creatures, I love how they "swim" (read: float around and just look dorky when swimming.) Those guys have been around for millions of years and haven't really changed much, evolutionary speaking. Like squid and octopuses, they're also classed as cephalopods. /nerd

Those column shaped rocks are actually a volcanic formation, caused by old lava flows. This type of formation comes mainly from Basalt, which, because of the minerals it's made of, tends to break into hexagon shaped columns over time. I saw quite a few of those types of rocks Near Squamish and Whistler, BC, which makes sense as there is a volcano nearby, Mt Garibaldi.

That's how anglerfish attract their prey - they have a glowing bulb and since they live in the dark depths of ocean, fishes get attracted to the light and the anglerfish eventually eats them.
Also, in the first part where the area is vacant, not even ships? None? Maybe like plants growing around a wrecked ship, or such.

Not sure if anyone's said already, but Abzû is in the Sumerian language. It refers to the primordial ocean in ancient Mesopotamian "religion", if I'm not mistaken

Not sure if you figured it out by the end of the vid, but those sparks, or bubbles, were from the fish eating each other. It looks like you may have disrupted the ecosystem by introducing new predators...?

I think it's great she doesn't just rush through but takes her time to look at things. This is an exploration game after all. I you're out for something fast-paced, well, then this isn't just the game for you because it's anything but fast-paced no matter how much you rush through...
