    For soloing this with Mythic I strongly recommend you get Mythic Magazines 19 (for solo horror) and 6 (Mystery module). You might also enjoy MM 14 for its Emotional Quest module which is awesome for dealing with sanity loss repurcussions, mythos shocks, etc. Emotional Quests adds a lot to the depth of solo play. MM is such an amazing addition to Mythic GM Emulator, it turns it into an incredibly customizable toolbox. Good luck, let us know how you fare in Arkham, may the Hound never catch your scent!

    Regarding Mythic GM Emulator, if you want to cut out a lot of the die rolls and table look-ups in order to speed your gameplay then there is a big deck of cards for it (also on DTRPG). The cards are multi-use so each one has the equivalent die/table results for the various core essentials. Notably faster in use. It doesn't include all the extra specific tables in MGME 2nd edition, but you can always roll on those when needed.
    Their print-on-demand cards are also very good quality, better than a lot of board games. Have got a few different ones from them in the past.

  • @NefariousKoel
    @NefariousKoel Месяц назад +1

    I'd be concerned about it being a "Starter" set used for solo. There usually isn't much content in them but what is used in the included scenario(s). Often there aren't character creation rules in starter sets, either. It's also more difficult to solo pre-made adventures since you have to spoil some surprises or backtrack, and you'll have to improvise more in going about it. Not saying it's impossible, just that it will be different than running your own off-the-cuff adventure, which emulators like MGME are focused on. You can make it work - just wanted give a heads-up since it'll be your first foray into that sort of thing. You could be starting off on a steeper slope.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  Месяц назад +1

      Potentially! However, with this one being aimed at beginners and experienced RPG players in terms of on-boarding and flow it could be a perfect pairing. We shall see!

    Thanks for the unboxing Adam, it arrives here in the Uk sept same time as the core rulebook.. i did watch a 45 minute demo, sadly the two people playing had no clue about rpgs etc...the dice pool for combat scenes looks good, as you get 6 dice each combat turn to do things... but puzzled how 6 dice in a narrative would work..as I`m not sure how long is a "narrative scene".. if you broke into a house to steal a book... is that one scene and you only have 6 dice ?... well you know what I mean once you had a cup of tea and read the rules... its looks lovely and the maps can be used for other games as well....hope you do a deeper dive into the rules...have a good weekend

    Arkham Horror board game is made as attempt to make board version of Call of Crhulhu RPG. We allready have that RPG and it has couple of solo books too. So it is funny to see them make RPG and go back to source.
    Everything is soloable! You don`t even need oracle. Just take multiplayer adventure and play it and play what you characters see and hear not you.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  Месяц назад

      This isn’t soloable officially so a solo system like Mythic streamlines and also provides guard rails for solo play.
      It’s odd how many people are up in arms that another RPG is in the same theme space as CoC. This one takes nothing away from CoC at all 😂. If there was only one RPG per theme the hobby would be a very very boring space to exist in.

      Hey Pat! It’s a role playing game. The relevance is for people’s enjoyment/entertainment. That’s what RPGs and board games are for. Find what you like and enjoy it. If you enjoy CoC RPG than you’ve got yours. Something new doesn’t mean the old becomes irrelevant. If anything it pulls more people into the RPG lane and that’s a good thing. 😄👍🏼

      This is designed as an entry into rpgs, some people will see CoC and be scared away because it looks complex. It will find its audience I'm sure. I'll probably buy it even though I own pretty much all released books for CoC7E. I'll probably use this for people new to rpg but who wants some mythos action, then graduate them to CoC when they feel ready.

    Not impressed with the offerings shown. It looks like a weak attempt at hybridizing an RPG with a light board game. There doesnt appear to be any rules for creating your own characters or custom campaigns, only pre-made characters and a short adventure module which tells me that they are just using this as a springboard to monetize future content down the line if you want to play different characters and different stories, DLC's in rpg format essentially to take more money from your wallet.

      @@RollingSolo It may be a gateway drug for other rpgs, but that doesn't mean it's a good product from what I can see. There seems to be lack of emphasis on rpg substance and more emphasis on extraneous fluff like chits, dice, and character cards. Better gateway products exist like Chaosium's Alone Against Solo books which have more replay value, and you can't beat free, whereas this is 35 dollars. I'm not going to give it a free pass merely because it may potentially attract newcomers to rpgs, and certainly not when I see their strategy of drip-feeding the customer with future DLC's.
