Obviously late response, but on the default profile the HMCS stuff disappears when you're looking forward at the HUD. So yeah, in order to see all the HMCS stuff you have to look away from the HUD unless you tweak the profile (fwiw, I haven't tried that yet). If you're asking that question, I'm guessing you probably don't have TrackIR or other head/eye-tracking? I know some people can make it work without that, and some are quite good at manually looking around w/ keys or other controls, but I've found it's not enjoyable for me without my TrackIR. Too many other things going on (esp. in the A10) to think about "slewing" your own POV w/ yet more controls. Moving your head around is much more intuitive, immersive, and precise. Also, make sure you're in the A-10C II and not the older A-10 that has no HMCS. I've made that mistake, once. :)
Imagine an A-A fighter like F18 or F16 with the helmet that shows datalink for detected enemy aircraft as well... It would be literally like flying with labels on...
Any explanation of the what appears to be extra bearing/range when hooking a known friendly aircraft? It displays below aircraft type as XXX/XXX I can't figure out what its referring to.
Yes, totally possible, use is just the same. In the sim options however, you can choose to show it on just your right eye (realistic) left eye, or both if you prefer.
Slaves to the SPI now, TMS down long will reset the SPI to your selected Steerpoint. So in effect, TMS down long, China had aft long to get back to a steerpoint.
Intended behaviour change, China hat aft short toggles LSS now rather than boresight. Some controls changed to facilitate the HMCS, but also I believe there were a few inaccuracies in the original warthog and changes over the years to the real thing too.
Practically I'd say no. Functionally you can, I know of a few who fly with something similar and use the keyboard too. Unfortunately the Warthog has probably the most complex HOTAS system in dcs. You'll need to use modifiers and the keyboard to do anything more than absolute basics.
Are you familiar with the waypoints/markpoints system? This tutorial was more geared towards conversion from the old A-10C to the new A-10c rather than a total beginner to the module. I'd recommend learning up on the core systems (SOI, SPI, TAD, HUD, Waypoints/markpoints) on the aircraft before approaching the helmet.

Wingman 1 broadcasts his SPI which is jumping all over the place all the time. Flight Lead: What the hell are you doing?!??? Wingman 1: Oops... guess I played too much FIFA recently.
Switch on unlimited ammo, and you're pretty much there just with some extra complexity. Crazy to think they've got this, and more modern gear in real life.
The training missions for the A10 in DCS will get you familiar with all of the terminology. It's a lot -- the learning curve is steep! I had to replay the training missions several times to take it all in. It's not one of those games (or planes) you can just hop right in and be blowing stuff up 10 minutes later. It take a serious time commitment to get proficient, something I struggle with having two young kids and a business. I'm thinking this knowledge will transfer over to other jets in DCS, so you won't have to relearn the jargon all over with every new plane... at least I hope! :)

Slaves to the SPI now, TMS down long will reset the SPI to your selected Steerpoint. So in effect, TMS down long, China had aft long to get back to a steerpoint.
@@RedKiteRender thanks for fast response.yea i noticed that but not sure if it is a bug or not.
Intended behaviour change, China hat aft short toggles LSS now rather than boresight. Some controls changed to facilitate the HMCS, but also I believe there were a few inaccuracies in the original warthog and changes over the years to the real thing too.
Wow. DCS now looks like Ace Combat or Hawx. I'm not complaining, it's pretty cool to know that technology exists and is used
Great Vid Cheers.
Thanks alot!
I have a T.flight hotas,
Enough buttons for the a10?
Practically I'd say no. Functionally you can, I know of a few who fly with something similar and use the keyboard too. Unfortunately the Warthog has probably the most complex HOTAS system in dcs. You'll need to use modifiers and the keyboard to do anything more than absolute basics.
@RedKite - i love you ;-)
Dammit, my brain explodes on 'or select it with a HUD when steerpoint not set to markpoints, then we can set it as our SPI'. :(
Are you familiar with the waypoints/markpoints system? This tutorial was more geared towards conversion from the old A-10C to the new A-10c rather than a total beginner to the module.
I'd recommend learning up on the core systems (SOI, SPI, TAD, HUD, Waypoints/markpoints) on the aircraft before approaching the helmet.
@@RedKiteRender thanks for your reply, I really enjoy your tutorials! Yes, I have quite a few hours in both A-10C and A-10C II now, but still it's not that easy to catch everything you say! No offense here, it's just difficult to put together even though I'm using marks and other things in A-10. Thanks again for great vids on all modules, you're my first source of information on any question!
@@yurikirsanov8763 No worries, it's a complex topic to talk about, and having flown the a-10c since 2011? I get a little complacent on what I'm saying as it's simple to my mind's experience. If you need anything expanded on feel free to ask.
@@RedKiteRender I'm flying it right now but after switching back from F-18, so it's kinda not too easy to put all terms back together :)
Is that Persian Gulf oder Syria?

Meanwhile qeshm getting obliterated
Wingman 1 broadcasts his SPI which is jumping all over the place all the time.
Flight Lead: What the hell are you doing?!???
Wingman 1: Oops... guess I played too much FIFA recently.
This is literally like playing Ace Combat.
Switch on unlimited ammo, and you're pretty much there just with some extra complexity. Crazy to think they've got this, and more modern gear in real life.
Ground forces with data link. JESUS PLEASE. CAS no longer goving me hives
All that yet they broke FC3 REFUELING at won Airfields on Servers.
Grow up.
where is the dictionary of terms. . . meaningless jargon for newbies where are the base line tutorials.
Too complex. They seriously should use the RUSSIAN HDR Design. Jesus!
I can't watch this. The guy narrating is too animated and impatient when he tries to explain everything. I need a tutorial with a calm, relaxed voice, not this loud belching seraph here.
