Eric, you Champion, for 12 months I have been trying to understand modes. I was initially taught the 7 shapes in the 7 positions practice them until I could play them by rout. I was then told I could move the shapes wherever and things just got muddier, watching RUclips videos just made matters worse. Your video just clarified modes for me so simple. Thank you very much, and for all the other brilliant lessons.
Same thing happened to me Mick. I had a $50 VHS tape on the subject that only confused me more no matter how hard I studied it. I finally just sat down and looked at the notes and went "WHAAAAT!" People explain this in the most complicated way possible, which tends to make it impossible to get any use out of! Hope to do more on modes in the future! Thanks for watching my friend!

I have watched literally hundreds of guitar scale/mode videos on youtube. just learning different techniques, etc. I have to say, this is honestly the best, most clear, direct and easy to understand explaination of what a mode is and how it is related to a scale. you break it down in very simple terms and dont spend 15 minutes talking about random crap. hands down, the best video on what a dorian mode is. amazing. kudos.
