*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. Katy said in an interview: "I want to be a firework both dead and alive. I want to make people say 'Ahhh!'. I guess that is like my hymn".

Fact: this song is a nightmare for musicians because it's really difficult to sing. The high notes keep getting higher and stronger. It was brilliantly made. But she sing it effortlessly on stages. She has such a strong powerful voice! Please react to her super blow video!

she was always beautiful tho. her beauty comes naturally, but yeah, her life was not a fairytale. she was seen as a failure, lost in LA with no support from her family, and totally broken, no money even to feed herself.
that's why Katy's catalogue is full of inspiration songs, she used her sadness to overcome it, since she said sadness is probably the most genuine and inspirational feeling to write. she writes her most inspirational songs when she's depressed, and that's one of the reasons why she's a fucking great artist.

Her family wasn’t poor lmao. She was basically put into musical lessons by her parents because they thought that she’d go into gospel music in which her parents were both pastors. But of course, her rebel teen side prevailed and lived on her own thats when she went to LA and fought for her dreams of becoming a star ❤️
I always saw this song as less about being positive or inclusive or leaving your past behind, and more about being yourself, which is kind of the same, but I always got the impression that the message was to be proud of who you are and embrace your differences. That's why the pregnant woman has the fireworks, because it's not "oh people are born every day it's not a big deal" it's "everybody is unique and special in their own way and giving birth is beautiful because that person is going to be different from everyone else on the planet". Still a message that's used a lot but a nice message either way.
ngl this came out when I was in high school and was coming to terms with my sexuality and along with born this way was a pretty impactful song for me.

ok there are people here saying that he doesn't get things, he's bad at interpreting and that he's the worse, how can you think all that? of course he gets the message, he's not dumb, he said throughout the video. It's not a complex video, and I totally get it why he wondered what he wondered about the kid with cancer, that's ok, he's digesting while watching, and WE ALL need to have in mind that everybody has different ways of getting things. and what I like the most about him is that he reacts to both, song and video, and he's into Cinema, I think he went to film school and/or worked on a project, don't remember. I've seen A LOT of react videos by people who are really not here for entertaining, but they're here for some kind of fame and numbers and consequently their videos are a waste of time. Everybody grows in every aspect over time, including you and Jersh. Peace. ✌

I related so much to these songs when I was younger, struggling with my sexual orientation. All the messages seemed so easy and close to me. I don't know if it's because Jersh never felt the same or ever saw himself in the video... But this one felt off to me
I love the song and was entertained by the video, the video just felt a little over the top I think and the visuals of the fireworks obviously were a distraction and amusing image, I agree the message of the song and the song itself are great but come on, fireworks out of her chest and a uterus during birth I’m gonna have some thoughts on that lmao

i've been seeing this video and listening this song since the day it was released, and i still cry every single time i do it.
A lot of you are missing the fact that at 3:55 in the video I said the firework was the light in us to overcome adversity, but since SO many people overlooked this and also don’t know what a metaphor is apparently I’ll be making a follow up video to this reaction :)

@@SuperJersh As I said in the stream, you keep being true to yourself and your opinions. You will always have haters and as you grow so to will their numbers. I at least feel you're doing a good job with your reactions and the work you put into this channel even if I don't agree with your assessment of a song or if you don't even like a favorite song. Music is subjective.. you will internalize it and interpret it in your own way and since its blind reaction its very rare that you will get close to the exact meaning intended, its more about how you felt about it in that moment and seeing it through another's perspective. Don't let a few bad apples ruin the experience for you.

the video translate the music perfectly. It shows different situations where people are uncomfortable with themselves, but when they find the strength and get over the fear, they ignite ther own light, and this light is represented by the fireworks

Someone has looped that line in different ways over the instrumental and made a short 2 min remix of it somewhere on youtube. The video was also filmed in Budapest. I think it's a matter of how you can relate to the video, I remember crying a lot watching it by being the fat kid ashamed of swimming and the gay kid at the same time. Some stuff may be silly for some people, but it has a big impact on others. Plus, it's "the miracle of birth" that's why she's full of fireworks, it aint that hard to get lol

Everyone is beautiful in their on way, not just physically, and rich people don't have economic priblems, but they can have every other kind of problem, money does not solve all your problems.
She had a hard life before she became popular and wealthy and she worked so hard to get to where she is now.
If someone lives 2 years poor and 30 years rich, what do they have more perspective on? As other say, Don't take it literally, take it metaphorically. Many POP videos need to be seen thru the creative or metaphorical lens. I've seen in many reactions you try to find the literal meaning but it is not always that way in my opinion... in this case the fiweworks burst or start when the people starts to appreciate their own colors or is brave enough to show him or her true self, seeing positive sides, etc

@@SuperJersh I think you are still taking it literally or trying to find an specific mening... I see it this way... Examples:
1. Kid standing up against the abusive father: when he stepped up and defended his mother, he was the firework he was brave he was showing his inner firework.
2. When the gay guy kissed; same thing, he was brave and boom boom boom fireworks haha

CR I think people get confused with my real time random thoughts as I’m piecing together my interpretation I almost never end where I being as I listen to more of a song/see more of a video, and based on the average watch time I think people are missing the end, I get a lot of comments on a lot of videos so this one having a lot of comments about what the video is about isn’t any different than the others, and back to your original comment about me taking things literally, that’s just not true and you either haven’t watched or are confused on the difference between literal and metaphor. I say this because I know on dozens of occasions I have said and thought “I don’t think that’s literal, I think what it’s trying to say is.....” so I disagree with that assessment. Same as with this video, I didn’t think a literal human being was an actual real life firework, I said overcoming struggles makes a person a firework because they brighten their future, literally a metaphor 😁

I would like you to react to some videos from M.I.A. She is a political rapper/singer from the UK whose family and her escaped war when she was a child and lived in Sri Lanka. She got very famous at some point with her song "paper planes", first song ever to be nominated both to an Oscar and a grammy. She also worked with Madonna, was in a relationship with EDM musician Diplo, and because of her political lyrics, videos, and her social media, she was censored and investigated (and I think she still is) by the US government. There is one video of hers called "Born Free" that is very violent and graphic and it's a visual metaphore on racism by the U.S. armed forces. She also directed a video for her song "Borders" about immigration. Her music is really good and criticaly acclaimed but her person as a whole can be seen as very controversial. It would be cool if you reacted to some of her music or videos.

I think people are a bit more upset with this reaction because it is near and dear to lots of people's hearts, and although is someone rich and beautiful saying it, I'm certain it has helped many of her fans on overcoming issues.

I completely understand what you mean at the end. While listening to something may help you for a short time, it takes a lot of work and stress to get over something bad that has happened in your life. I honestly don't think you can make it better. It's like a roller coaster where it just dips up and down and turns around. I also agree with the shock about the kid dying in the hospital getting her "light" by watching someone else give birth! It's not even good parents since the dad(or wife) isn't in the room and there are no relatives/friends out and about so the door stays open. They should have cut that whole section out b/c it's not something that you can fix. You just have to deal with yourself dying and hope you win the lotto so you can stop working and actually have fun like everyone thinks your going to do in retirement! *sigh* sorry I'm stopping the rant now. I've heard this song but the mv hits too close for home and it's not in a good spot for me.
