6th Gen was an incredible man. Every console brought something new to the table and laid the foundation that we take for granted today. Great video btw bro!!
Completely agree man, it felt like each console wasn’t afraid to take risks this generation either which allowed us to get some great experimental titles. Thanks bro! Hopefully we can play some ps3 online together at some point
A time where you could buy a game and get the full game on disc. No system updates bugging you. Everything just worked. Each console had a unique dashboard which gave them more personality. Now consoles use a corporate sanitized home menu with ads.
It's not just consoles that were thriving, we had amazing handhelds during that time to with the GBA (2000), DS (2004), and PSP (2004/2005) all having a great line of games on them.
The 6th generation was amazing! I miss the days where games were made with passion (generally) and didn't have micro transactions and the need for DLC to complete a game. My favourite games this generation are Star Wars Battlefront 2, DBZ Budokai Tenkaich 3, Time Splitters 3, Super Mario Strikers, Power Stone, Crazy Taxi and Smash Melee
7th gen was weird. 360 v PS3, with Wii doing its own thing. I guess that was kind of the beginning of Sony finding their stride with more exclusive IPs. Meanwhile the 360 kinda functioned as the superior multi-platform machine. Definitely fell off more with 8th gen, you’re right.
I grew up with the PS2 it was amazing playing games with my brothers. My favorite childhood game for the PS2 is King Arthur. I now got a Dreamcast and the Gamecube.
I was so obsessed with the PS2, still kind of am. But on GameCube I really loved Wind Waker and Metroid Prime. X-Box was the Dreamcast 2 for a lot of us Sega Heads. I was never a Halo guy so Xbox really never did much to excite me being an avid pc player at the time, Nintendo and Sony had so many good and important to gaming exclusive. So many great games on PS2, Person 3/4, Ff12, Jack and Daxter, Gran Turismo ect… literally Dozens of exclusives that are critical to the modern gaming industry got their start on PS2. But yeah Crazy Taxi 3 goes hard on OG Xbox.
It was between the Gamecube and Xbox after a early childhood of Nintendo and Sega....chose the Xbox because it could play dvds...burn music....had Halo....playinging on series X today no regrets...
I was too young to remember the ps2 but i still grew up with it one of my easiest memories is watching pixar's cars on my ps2 i got from my cousin then playing grand trismo 3 unfortunately my ps2 died back in 2019 after i played way too much shadow of the collosus 😂
The Dreamcast was hurt by PS2 but man we used to Pirate the hell out of that thing we used to burn disk and get all the Dreamcast games to play them for free and yes it would mess up your Dreamcast in the long run but you can’t say no to free games LMAO!!!!!!
The ps2 being able to play DVDs and CDs definitely hurt the sales of other systems around that era. I don’t blame you for burning games, I would’ve done the same lol
I love the GameCube so much. I wish I could travel back to September 10th 2001 and warn people that the Nintendo GameCube is going to be a commercial flop.
Ah yes, fun edgy times. Times, when something really good was being overlooked for the sake of having something ultimate; competition was at insane level. Music, movies, videogames. But that's good, because for every good thing from back in the day we didn't pay much attention, now we have a plenty of time to get acquaintaned to that and share some thoughts. Come to think of it, that's why we may have so many remasters, reboots and remakes? So many videos of hidden gems for these consoles? Huh.
the 6 gen library is ram pack with good games no other gen did this they broke the barriers. These new gen could never do that. it takes too long to create a game on these new gen that's why they remastering and remake from gen 5 and 6
@@FranchisePlayyer they current gen failed to have enough games to the public because the new consoles are more into realistic graphics and this took way more time to create. nice to meet you by the way.
The 6th gen. was solid but I think people overestimate it a bit. The reason? All the Zoomers who are talkative on social media right now. 10 years ago, it was all about the 4th and 5th gen. And in 2030, it’s gonna be all about the 7th and 8th gen. The 6th gen. had some really cool things about it. But it also had some weird things about it. We were just coming off the revolution of the 3rd dimension so developers were still trying to figure out what exactly you should do with all that space. Take a game like the Simpson’s for the 6th gen. People have this memory of those being AMAZING games. Go back and play them. They are middling at best. And there was SO much copying back then. Everyone was trying to get that GTA money. Shameless copying was a thing in that gen.
The PS2 is my second favorite console of all time right behind the PS3. No micros-transactions and games were released complete. So much nostalgia haha.
You must be thinking of the Sega Saturn. Which was Sega’s offering for the 5th generation along side Playststion 1 and n64. Dreamcast would have been making games well into the life of PS2 if not for DVD being included with PS2 and Bernie Stohler being a complete idiot and destroying Sega of America with a series of bad decisions that are all well documented and talked to death about on RUclips.
The sixth and seventh generation is peak gaming. It will never get any better than that.
Its crazy that the original Xbox was only 8GB but back then it felt like the hard drive was bottomless.
8GB really felt like an endless amount of storage at the time lol

@FranchisePlayyer Absolutely man! If you ever get the chance, the dreamcast online community is really neat. Still plenty of people there

The DS and PSP handheld era was awesome, the games from both still hold up pretty well

I loved the DBZ Budokai games on ps2! This pre update/DLC generation was awesome
So like the majority of consoles before the 6th gen as well, then?
Yeah pretty much.
This is the last generation where each console felt unique, where each console had its own identity.
You don’t think that about the 7th gen?
7th gen was weird.

The ps2 library was incredible, there’s a game for literally anyone on that console
The Gen I also grew up with.
1. 6th gen
2. 5th gen
3. 7th gen
It was between the Gamecube and Xbox after a early childhood of Nintendo and Sega....chose the Xbox because it could play dvds...burn music....had Halo....playinging on series X today no regrets...
Wouldn’t be a gamer without Xbox original and halo ce
Agreed!
I was too young to remember the ps2 but i still grew up with it one of my easiest memories is watching pixar's cars on my ps2 i got from my cousin then playing grand trismo 3 unfortunately my ps2 died back in 2019 after i played way too much shadow of the collosus 😂
Watching DVDs on the ps2 was legendary
I watched this video because it talked about the Dreamcast
The dreamcast deserved a longer life!
The Dreamcast was hurt by PS2 but man we used to Pirate the hell out of that thing we used to burn disk and get all the Dreamcast games to play them for free and yes it would mess up your Dreamcast in the long run but you can’t say no to free games LMAO!!!!!!

GameCube used mini DVD discs (:

During the 6th gen it always seemed like there were multiple new games to be excited for. Unfortunately can’t say the same about current gen.
@@FranchisePlayyer they current gen failed to have enough games to the public because the new consoles are more into realistic graphics and this took way more time to create. nice to meet you by the way.
still playing it lol 😂

The Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2, not sure if you knew that
The PS2 is my second favorite console of all time right behind the PS3. No micros-transactions and games were released complete. So much nostalgia haha.
Yeah man the ps2 is definitely up there in my all time console list as well. Having a complete game at launch nowadays would be a miracle lol
Some say 6th gen was peak (mostly PS2)
Objectively it is
that's back when games were innovative... now it's all about sports or 1st person shooters
The dreamcast more belongs in the ps1 and n64 era, these youtubers are such wishful thinkers

Dreamcast is definitely 6th gen, wish it would’ve been supported longer.
It had a 32bit cpu like a ps1 or n64 but the Gpu was 128 bit like ps2 and 6th generation consoles.
