Excellent video. We really enjoyed that. It's over a year since we were up there. Only ever fished from the bank. We will try it again soon.

Thanks Paul , much appreciated, pick your weather if you can , overcast sky is perfect for fish rising 👍🎣🐟

As usual Alec another great open fishing video. Your always very transparent with your tactics and patterns. Keep up the great work. I must get down to fish some of these waters next year. Im 4 weeks in Shetland just now, trying my best to get everywhere to fish. Lol. 😂👍👋🐟

Oddly enough, I fished a shallow lake recently and had the same bother. Fish were cruising the top 1ft of water, my Bibio/Black pennel start failed to interest them, fished a floating Deerhead Bibio with a red buzzer behind, then a black one and nothing. The Hoppers worked when retrieved, missed several fish as the Hoppers dragged in the surface at the start of lifting the line off the water to cast. Ive just made up a few floating Beetles to have a go with tomorrow, plenty wind about now so plenty terrestials for them to quaff.

It is a great method on many lakes , particularly if the lake gets good sedge hatches in the late evening, the fish remember that and respond to flies pulled quickly on the surface 👍🎣🐟

Hi Alec I am thinking of having a trip up from Billingham sometime next year what is the average depth here ?

It's quite deep at the lodge end and up through the middle , the sides a more shallow, but to be honest if its cloudy the fish rise freely all over the lake , great dry fly sport .👍🎣🐟
