Dr. Goodin, Thank you for sharing this lecture with us. I especially liked how you highlighted the importance of the coach's eye as "bedside manner" in our profession. Very much reminds me of the scene from Moneyball when the coaching staff is meeting about restructuring their team and there is discourse between what coaches see with their eyes vs what the numbers / statistics say. It makes sense how both are of high importance when it comes to wanting to enhance performance to the highest level attainable. As you've mentioned before, the goal is for athletes to solve movement problems better than the opponent. Can they accomplish the demands of their sport better than the other side? Sport science certainly provides that avenue to try and get there.
Good day Dr. Goodin, I really liked how you mention science assumes the truth its out there and can be measured, as I think it really relates to the white box approach, trying measure and control for relevant variables to be able to better direct the training process.
Thank you sir for a great full class, I am sports and exercise science student from India. I am developing myself to be better. I gain lots of knowledge in this session. I want to learn more in this channel.keep going sir, great support.
Thank you for explaining the Athlete Monitoring Conceptual Model and how sport science staff can seamlessly integrate into training, monitoring, and research. I am lucky to play a part in this role at PLNU.
Thank you for this insightful lecture, Am Dr. Andrew Jackson Mugalya pursuing my Master of Science in Sports Science of Kyambogo University of London Kampala-Uganda.... And in my First semester of Year one. I'm inspired by your mention of sport being one of the three most important things in life
I am hopefully going to study sport science in a few years time and this has really given me an insightful view of what I needed to have known! thanks a million!
Dr. Goodin, I like the black box vs. white box procedure. I just heard a podcast that used this example when comparing experienced-based (black box) vs. evidence based coaching (white box). Using objective data would give great insight into what was beneficial and what was not from previous seasons.
Hi sir I have a question, currently imma student who takes sport science can I ask you do they require the science subject called chemistry? If yes please respond to me that will help.
Hi Im studying sports science with specialization in excercise health and excercise physiology. Im on my 4th semester and still wonder what I will be able to provide after I graduate.. due to these doubts, Im also taking a major in occupational therapy just to secure.
