  • Small button batteries are found in household items like remote controls, thermometers or watches, and can be dangerous if accidentally swallowed by a child. In the first seven months of the pandemic, ER visits related to button batteries rose 93 percent among young children.

    Make the battery chamber child proof ie screwing the compartment closed Canada has more safety laws for children regarding battery chambered device's toys ect.

      No need for that, just do what Duracell does, they coat their batteries with a bitter substance that makes them difficult to swallow!

    I honestly feel sorry for her.. too painful but other than button batteries, there are still smaller items that pose a risk to children and toddlers can just be a handful. Rip sweet girl

    Feel so sorry for your loss😔 I never let my kids crawl on the floor without my or an adult supervision. I remember my daughter don't like putting anything in her mouth when she was a baby but my 2 sons will pickup anything they see on the floor and put it directly into their mouth even when they were 2 or 3.

    Anyone wonder why this whole battery thing is a recent phenomenon, these batteries have been around since the 1940s and yet you look at the statistics and the number of deaths have really gone up in the last decade, although it mostly went up from 0-1 to 3-4 per year with the absolute peak being 6 one year, maybe modern parents should actually start watching their children instead of looking at their phones all day. Here's a free tip for you, similar thing can happen with small magnets, sometimes thay are built into children's toys even, so you better keep those away from toddlers as well, wouldn't be surprised if most people reading this didn't know that. Be better parents instead of blaming the world for being dangerous after you neglect to watch your child.

      it’s technically negligence on their part so they wouldn’t win anything and just end up losing more money

      @@topangastudiesonyoutube3503 it’s not negligence at all accidents happen how do you know they weren’t watching her and got a phone call and had to look away or something she has another child also

    • @DeadEndScreamer
      @DeadEndScreamer 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@haleystewart94 Would you calmly watch a toddler open up a remote and eat a battery, probably not, therefore they were probably not watching her, that's just common sense. Bad parents right there, people keep calling it an accident but I call it a side effect of modern parenting.

      Truth right here, these batteries have been aroudn for decades, most parents do not leave toddlers alone with a remote control or any electronics for that matter, this is just bad parents trying to shift the blame for their own mistake.

    Maybe you should watch your kids better. If I was responsible for my child's death id probably try to blame it on anything else I could as well.
