As a Grimes fan, I will say I don’t agree with everything she thinks or says or does. It’s frustrating cuz one day she’ll say something awesome and the next she’ll say something dumb. But I do think she’s an amazing artist and as a producer and musician myself I appreciate her so much and I want to believe she’s actually a good person but just says dumb shit sometimes and is misunderstood. I just hope we get a Grimes redemption era. Also Grimes and Hana just tweeted each other recently on Hana’s birthday and Grimes said “Love you!” While wishing her a happy birthday so they are still pals 👯♀️ ✨🖤
This is so entertaining damn, can’t wait for part 3. And love the eyebrowless choice, it’s badass tbh. (Btw I had this vid in my watch later playlist and when I went to leave this comment it already skipped to the next vid without me realising so I almost just complemented a randomer on having no eyebrows. They would have been so confused if I didn’t catch it in time lmao)
Judging by the quality of Grimes acting, it's laughable that she was tweeting to her friends on her alt accounts about leaving music and going into acting. ( Even her Lizzy wizzy voice over acting was cringe/terrible)
By the way this video is amazing but in the future i would appreciate the screenshots to be kept on screen a bit longer because i miss the pause and have to rewind frequently on this video and the last. subscribed after watching these ❤ I hooe you keep making content/deep dives. i also heard this a few times but couldnt find any source other than anecdotes from people slandering her over elon musk. doesnt seem credible considering it’s only ever used as a point of critique,, but honestly who knows? her mom Sandy actually seems quite reasonable
@@marsrsy Allegedly, Grimes, biological dad actually owned the apartment building that Grimes lived in while at McGill , and that let her "job" be the rent collector for all of the other students and low income residents who lived there. Both of Grimes' Parents were very well off. Grimes' whole "starving artist" years were literally self inflicted and more of a cosplay that she was able to quickly shed once bored, and it had lost it''s appeal. I don't doubt that she willingly chose to live in/ and associate with fellow street artists who basically lived in hovels, but that was because she refused to actually work a real job when her music was not currently supporting her. Funny how at that time Grimes had a very big amphetamine addiction , and always seemed to have money for various kinds of drugs ( To fuel her artistic process, I suppose). It's also amusing that Grimes has the audacity to complain about her current status and life of luxury; blaming the very fans that originally supported her from the beginning and helped get her to where she is now. Grimes is STILL with Elon on the DL ( though she won't refer to it on her official social media because it will cause bad press). She moved to San Francisco with Musk when he took over twitter and has fully ingrained herself into Musk's Red pill, alt right, pro-natalist ( for the 1% only), tech -capitalist/fascists beliefs and friend group. There is no defending her recent problematic behavior

I legitimately go to my university every fricking day of my life at 7 am in the morning listening to Weregild, Flesh Without Blood, Grisgris, Sardaukar Levenbrech and Belly of the Beat.
I feel many fans are unfair with C. I quite like Player of Games and Shinigami Eyes. Welcome To The Opera dropped a few days ago and it's all right, but it didn't speak to me. I'm excited for Digital Calypso and Utopia, though.
(Saturn Princess, Drome and Life Before Death are my favourite obscure tracks from her, by the way. Ham Mer Maid literally inspired me to reorganise the way I listen to music, that's just too beautiful and life-changing a piece of work and why despite C. questionable shenanigans, I highly respect her).
great job again! we appreciate the time and effort you put into these! i also really like how personable you are and your inputs as an artist/musician!
yessss i saw this upload and jumped on it. Thank you, its so fun and cathartic, great job and you look great
The universe blessed me. Pt 1 just showed up in my home feed yesterday. I immediately went to look for part two thinking (oh surely) lol.
And already today pt 2? Amazing! 🖤😂
Thank you for all your hard work!
I’m hardcore grimes fan since 2014 and it feels so good to see more good grimes content online from the fans 😂❤
Cheers 0:02, thanks for the deep dive.
"she already sounds like a Spaniard" took me tf out.
Ps. You are a breath of fresh air, love the authenticity 💗
I loved the art angels era too, also remember her saying in an interview that she was heavily influenced by listening to Paramore while making it and also that she had originally wanted to be a country singer (?) lol and that also influenced songs like California
I needed this after part one like seriously
This is AWESOME thank you for putting in so much time and effort to provide such high quality entertainment. Ur super cool! Also i love your top :)
I got into Grimes around 2010 through a message board that fawned all over anyone making music like she did. I still love her music and think it's wonderful. I hope she keeps making music and doesn't let this weird media spiral turn her into some autistic white version of Kayne. Ranting about out of pocket bullshit. Grimes 💖☄️✨🦋
I like this comment.
After both Jaimes' and Poppy's accounts of Grimes saying she was very controlling + grimes saying herself something along the lines of how she couldn't have someone else work for her bc she'd be telling them to do everything (i think she passed it off as a joke), I do find it hard to believe that she isn't like that. Love you grimes but girl...
I hope you continue making these kinds of artist deep-dives. Really enjoyed it!
I have the attention span of a toddler fruit fly, so I really didn't think I'd watch until the end but I'm so glad I did. Your hard work aside, that last couple of seconds is pure gold :D
Holy shit, i listen to hana's house and techno sets a lot and love to just watch her vibe and dj but i had no idea it was the same hana that was on we appreciate power. Hana's work is amazing if anyone here is into edm i would totally check it out, shes very versatile in many types of edm and puts out sets on youtube frequently called the hana room. Ive never listened to her songs not in the form of the mix but im definitely checking out her self titled in its entirety(i really love Avalanche)
one of the best and funniest videos i have ever watched about grimes
I feel like I should be the last person alive who's as heavily invested in learning this lore as I am but here I am, sipping the tea.
Came here to say Thank u for ur comment about DJs😂❤ + thank u for making pt 2 for all of us im here from pt 1 & the amount of connections and research in both of these is impressive ❤
I'm loving this series
10/10 Absolutely amazing job Marsy!!!
Hi, I love both of your iceberg videos and I'm glad you've made them! And also I found your music because of them and I really love it, can't wait to hear more. I would also love a video about your creative process and stuff. You've just gained a big fan!
Also Grimes and Hana just tweeted each other recently on Hana’s birthday and Grimes said “Love you!” While wishing her a happy birthday so they are still pals 👯♀️ ✨🖤
been waiting for this! thank you
i just watched both videos of the grimes iceberg, they're so fun & you got me laughing at grimes' nonsense for like an hour and a half lmao
Thank you so much!!
in case someone doesn’t know , “birthday song” is a song from an old soviet cartoon called cheburashka 💖
They would have been so confused if I didn’t catch it in time lmao)
you're gonna paaay
I had forgotten this and now its back to living rent free
Judging by the quality of Grimes acting, it's laughable that she was tweeting to her friends on her alt accounts about leaving music and going into acting. ( Even her Lizzy wizzy voice over acting was cringe/terrible)
I love your humor and I just really enjoy you talking
By the way this video is amazing but in the future i would appreciate the screenshots to be kept on screen a bit longer because i miss the pause and have to rewind frequently on this video and the last. subscribed after watching these ❤ I hooe you keep making content/deep dives. If you were ever a die hard marina and the diamonds/MARINA fan like me , you should totally cover an iceberg on h!!
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!
22:26 idk how much of this is true but I think she actually has wealthy origins but she was living in such a conditions to experience what it feels like and to boost her writing/song ideas
i also heard this a few times but couldnt find any source other than anecdotes from people slandering her over elon musk. doesnt seem credible considering it’s only ever used as a point of critique,, but honestly who knows? her mom Sandy actually seems quite reasonable
Okay, I might be psychic, bc I just thought of this video, well the first part, and wondered if you ever uploaded a sequel, so I went to search for it and here we are, six hours after it was posted.
YES ITS HERE
AWESOME channel! I learned so much ❤loved Grimes back in the day.
thank you so so much for the thought and effort you put into these videos… this is soooo healing for the grimes fan teen-child inside me & somehow simultaneously just so inspiring. grimes is a living legend and will always be no matter how “chaotic evil” she might act.
If you haven't yet, watch her interview w Julia Fox. I think she's balancing it out since becoming a mama
yeah she's a normal human with flaws just like all of us.
Didnt really read the iceberg but is there anything on there about how she collabed with LOONA? That was so random on both parts but the song that came out was a masterpiece
I only recently got into Grimes but this is making me want to dive deeper.
omg yay thanks!!!!! can't wait to watch this
not me being a creept but youre so beautiful and ur side profile at 16:21 is so gorg
umm okay ur hand in marriage please
The interview at 4:40 she reminds me so much of Elon: the attitude, the inflections, the tics.
ive been waiting for this!! so excited to watch pt 2 finally!
Thank you for fixing the sound quality it was lowkey painful
The fact I know everything about this iceberg I’m so chronically online
omg yay i’ve been excited for part 2
Btw can you do a room tour cause your room looks like my dream room omg
ive been waitin for this one.. turn it up!
You reminded me of old/showed me new important grimes moments 🎭TYSMMM. Im so sick and stayed up the whole night doing nothing but watching your 2 grimes vids and digging deeper into them ✅
I love the grandiose entrance 😍😍😍
These are sooooo good a masterpiece really enjoyed these!!!! ty!!
I haven't been able to stop listening to Dark Come soon since this video...
Great video. Well presented, well researched and interesting. You're a funny person. Subscribed.
discovered you through part one of this and stayed for your music! pyro is AMAZING and inspired me to do some traditional art for the first time in a WHILE. excited to see your other works! 🍓🤍
you're very entertaining btw 💖
I acc liked the music in the bg of the last video but this is great too! Thanks alot. I truly dony gaf about Grimes and never have but ive learned some interesting things before I went to sleep
how did I miss this 7 days ago!?? I'm glad I finally got the notification 👀😈
I love your videos!!
It's so hard being a Grimes fan
Ooooh I also discovered Grimes as a teen and I’m kinda glad I didn’t really dive THAT deep into her fandom-wise because it’s always heartbreaking for me to watch them turn into someone SEVERELY problematic. Her music remains fantastic though. Which makes it even haaaardeeeeer 😓
I just got this video in my recommended so I figured I’d watch part 1 first. I know nothing about grimes except about that apparently she ate so much pasta in one part of her life that her hair fell out. Anyways both great videos you’ve definitely earned yourself a subscriber as I really like the way you present information
17:20 On her ex, Jamie Brooks (I do not know what name they currently go by), idoru was written about them, not Elon. Which is to say that, I think, if Grimes had strong negative feelings towards them, I feel like shed probably withold that song from the record, as many other artists do with their personal songs.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS LFGGG
FINALLY FINISHED WATCHINGG AfTER 2 wEEKS
MARSY THANK YOUU
didn't know a part 2 was coming out😭❤️
