I feel like fly core is meant to be used as a last defence. When a close-combat titan, like scorch or ronin, approaches you, you use your core to defend yourself if you can't run away
The best way to use it is to get a fully charged shot off on an enemy, throw a tether and cluster missle down. Then once the core ends, if theyre not dead (but they should be) then you can just dash and terminate on the way down
There is a problem with that though. The hover you get from Flight Core doesn't actually put you high enough to be outside melee range. So a Ronin or Scorch could still use their melee or thermal shield to damage you mid-core. And cluster missiles also damage you, so shooting them at an enemy close to you will probably kill you too.
@@aiden909beauchaine5 But the problem is that you'll always be taking damage in return. Flight core traps you in the air where you can't move very fast, even with Viper Thrusters, making you a *very* easy target, meaning most of the time not only will you take more damage than you dish out, you'll also probably be dead before your core even finishes firing.
6:30 the default cluster missile is actually better than enhanced payload because enhanced payload does less damage, its only effective against pilots. Also viper thrusters is more fun to use.

Yep, fast, high damage at long range, most mobile second to ronin and despite the obvious flaws, flight core can really mess someone up if they're not ready for it, I usually hover, then use core so people think I'm running and not sending hellfire on them lmao
you can also shoot through your allied titans, that way you can kinda use them as cover and you will never have to worry about your allies blocking your very important shots
In my experience, threat optics is an EXCELLENT pick for northstar if you’re looking to rack up quick easy kills on pilots. Makes it where all you gotta do is briefly aim, and you immediately get the location of anyone on your screen who’d otherwise be camouflaged/difficult to spot. Enemy pilots won’t know that they need to immediately take over, which allows you to easily and instantly delete pilots out of existence from across the map. What’s not to love about that?
I also find it very useful when you're in a 1V1 vs an ennemy Northstar or basically every other titan, it allows you to take your shot faster than the ennemy and you can also see them through electric smoke. For me Threat Optics is the best Northstar kit eventhough I used Viper's Thrusters for a while.
I pretty much only use the core if I get flanked and taken by surprise. I’m dead if I try to fight head on so I just hope the core scares them off. Either that or we both go out in a blaze of glory
@@cement_eater, I do the same if it’s last resort. Some fun tricks though if you like north star. Is using your thrusters first before flight core. You fly up even higher it helps to have viper jets so you can maneuver more while in flight core. I use it a lot if I’m cornered so I can fly over people without being whacked by ronin or scorches fire shield and dip out while dishing some damage back. You really wanna treat her as a hit and run titan. Always changing angles after I say the first two shots. While setting up traps and repositioning. I feel like you can only camp a spot if you have flight core cause it’s almost like having insurance.
I personally use viper thrusters for northstar. Threat optics is also a very viable option if you want to be a pilot exterminator and also have the edge when looking through electric smoke (you can use cluster missile on a wall, back into the wall and disembark to kill a rodeoing pilot while having minimal damage, so you can use electric smoke for other stuff) Viper thrusters make you less vulnerable when in the air so that’s why I use it. Also using nuclear eject is a no brainer really.
Northstar is Brutal in frontier defense with piercing shots and all aegis upgrades. Absolutely TERRIFYING love using her for the crispy multi activation against nuke titans cluster missiles for infantry and core for a huge rush of them than nuke eject for last resort and HMHMHMH.
Northstar is very interesting, as a Northstar main, I enjoy going maximum speed, as it helps me with survivability. Plus, using a sneaky hover on Colony has allowed me to slip behind titans which were distracted with teammates, and suddenly they take massive damage and get terminated a second after. Northstar is, mainly, one which you need to think about in regards to using her. You cannot afford to be stupid or make mistakes, but knowing when to push and when to evade is key. A good but if aggression can turn the tide in your favour, or you can be the ghost that annihilates health bars and then vanishes into the night.
i feel like ronin is the anti-pilot titan, with a long sweeping melee and a sweeping ranged attack that one-shots pilots, while northstar is the anti-titan titan, with long range, dashes to abuse cover and terrain, and flight to sneak in shots from unconventional angles
I dont think u mentioned that that u can place more than one trap. I'm not talking twin traps but it does make it much more terrifying when combine with nuke eject (once a monarch uses her smoke to get close to u or when ronin uses his phase but they sure hell wont expect the second trap). Yes u can place multiple traps around the map, up to 3 traps at a time. Again terrifying if combine with nuke and baiting the enemy that u have your trap at cooldown.
It's a good idea if you still need to rely on cover, but to maximize damage it's technically better to be higher up with the core. The missiles fire out at an angle then curve in to hit exactly on the reticle. Problem is, it only targets what TERRAIN the reticle is on, even looking through titans, so being higher up means you're looking at the floor right behind the titan and therefore getting a tighter pattern.
If you can find places with EXTREMELY low ceilings and big bottlenecks like on frontier defense where your mines will create Shaped Battlefields you can use enhanced payload, use your hover to lock you in place & Then use Salvo core. If you have a wingman & can also fight independently of your titan you can create MASSIVE DAMAGE & keep your enemies bunched up together for Days.
Wait, people actually hate on northstar? The only hate i ever heard about this titan was about its core being underpowered (unlike the chadline please i need the flatline video in my life please please)
Well northstar is arguably one of the best titans in the game if you use her well, she can take little damage if she plays her cards right, can deal one and a half bar of health, has three dashes, and is the only true bust damage titan fron long range (apart from laser shot ig)
northstar is my favorite titan i always love sniping in video games and even if i only land a few hits, ive either killed an enemy titan or have very nearly killed them, but if you have any sort of positioning skills you can usually support yout team for most of the match
It's so funny. The great thing is, everyone has their favorite. When I first started playing TF 2, I was Tone all the way. Then started spanning out and became a Northstar fanatic. I have been continually playing the game since release, even today and my Northstar is Gen 95. I'm working on attaining that elusive Gen 99.9 status. Such an amazing shooter and campaign. The best in my opinion. TF 3 should have been made, should be made and it's a massive shame how it was handled. Thanks for the video and sharing how great this titan really is. Next up, I'll Gen up Tone, Scorch or Ion to 99.9. lol
Maybe I'm the weird one but I really love hyper aggressive Northstar. It's hard to get it to work, but my general play is tether the enemy, dash or vtol past/over them and esmoke as I go, then flip and cluster missile them as they get caught in the trap while chasing me. Then it's just an easy shot or two before they're done for.
No matter how many times i get obblitterated by Nortstar, i can get a single Tone lock salvo into my face and sigh at least 3 times more. With Ion, at least you can catch Northstars bullet since that s the only thing that he can shoot you with. vs Tone you have 2 choices, one being catching the salvo and eating all the shots from his cannon. The other one would be trying to catch everything but then possibly eating a salvo because of energy management. And due to his omega balanced kit you don t even know when he shoots his salvo, he can litterally empty his entire magazine, leaving you waiting for the salvo. And since you can t fight him there either, as he simply does too much damage per second, you basically have no chance. I d rather duel 2 skilled Northstar mains with core and shield and die, than fight one half HP Tone. It s just not fun.. God i hate Tone.
Catch his stuff and push into him to take a 1/3 of his health with triple shot to the face, they'll stop as soon as they realize your not just gonna take anything without giving a decent trade, then retreat to cover with a laser peak for good measure lol only thing i fear in this game is fully cored monarch
You need to keep your distance, you have to be a coward at first to be good and aggressive later haahha, running away is a valid strategy, shoot run away, reposition then more shooting. If you can run away make sure to fully charge your railgun for the sweet knockback and dash to the sides to avoid any damage.
Hit the enemies from the side, if you see them running at you, get behind cover and hit em from another angle. you have three dashes and can relocate very easily
G100 Northstar and Ion here. With Northstar you don't always have to charge your shots all the way. Very common misconception that you shouldn't fire unless fully charged. Honestly just take whatever shots you can get. Watch my vids and you'll see what I mean :)
When using Flight core to focus down a titan, aim for the shins. The missiles fly out at an angle then turn in to hit what the reticle is on. I should specify, what TERRAIN the reticle is on. They won't close in on titans, so aiming lower ensurss that you don't just curve your missiles around them.
A tip from a northstar main; Use nuke eject, its the best at doing it and you already got all the dashes you need and combined with a well placed tether trap can make any titan reconsider their choices, and twin tether for extra consistency.
fellow northstar main here; don’t use nuke eject. You’re just feeding the enemy team 10, maybe 15 points while maybe getting one of them. Use turbo engine for mobility and get kills the normal way
Don't listen to this guy, use turbo engine. Nuke eject is a noob trap kit that's useless against people who know what they're doing. Go for turbo engine for that extra dash and use it to peek corner shots and dash to cover. For Northstar kit, it's probably best for viper thrusters as it lets you hover around faster. Good for doing those hover + peek and dash shots
What if the main use of the missle core is to use it first to wittle down the sheilds the health and then you can use the sniper to deal 1 shot kill? Badicly take it down to self destruct mode so that you can charge up your main weapon to deal 1 shot or 2 shot to finish titans off?
But for ion and scorch sheild you need to little down their sheild use and then use the missile core to wittle down the health and then 1 shot or 2 shot the self destruction
An interesting way to use Northstar is to use twin tethers and nuclear eject then suicide into the first group of titans that you see. You can thank me later in hell.
Please tell me I didn't see the words 'Daddy Legion' in the beginning To be honest we already have Papa Scorch so I dont know how I feel about two dads
Lets see, im a very aggressive player actually, i use my vortex shield a lot to deal damage and im always a mid to close combat player, dont use the trip wire unless you need it, its really a waste of energy, only ads when you have the upper hand and if its a NS ADS to deal max damage and pressure them. Laser shot its only good on fleeing titans or titans that dont know where you are. also Dont engage too far away unless you are not going in, pocking titans is a priority, the laser shot is great danger free damage, laser shot one then hide, recover some energy and do it again until your confortable to get in and finish the enemy.
Imo, turbo engine and Viper thrusters are the only valid combo. Northstar has no negation, so escape is her only means of survival. Therefore, maximizing her evasive capabilities are crucial, and having three dashes and massive airspeed is more important (to me, at least) than having piercing rounds or a more powerful cluster bomb or taking the coward's way out with nuke eject. (I'm the ride-or-die type in that regard and staunchly refuse to use nuke eject) And it certainly pays off, even in the offensive. I've gotten multiple executions by being able to triple-dash and while closing the gap with Flight core is high-risk it's also high-reward due to the missile's flight pattern
I totally agree on the tripple dash, there is no other option but imo enhanced payload is the goat. Viper thrusters let you escape but imo you shouldnt be in that position in the first place. Double trap just makes you better at what youre already good at, threat optics falls under the same umbrella and piercing shot is really only goos on Frontier Defense. Enhances payload tho, it perfectly balances out the rest of the kit, being able to smoke out pilota out of buildings and deny a bigger area because what titan would go through a cluster missile. Its just perfect.
@@danshrk I agree that EP is great for pilot hunting, I just personally focus almost solely on titans and any pilot kills I get are just when they're convenient. This is a double-edged sword because it means I ALSO get focused harder, so any mobility boost I can get is immensely helpful. In the end, it all just depends on the playstyle
Brute has its own kit in the campaign, but the tether and cluster missiles are replaced by BT's kit, the vortex shield and multi-target missiles. That said, I'd love to have a Brute titan in the game
Viper Thrusters make the core better, and the cluster kit actually make the cluster worse. Piercing Shot gives the projectiles more velocity. 3 dashes makes them charge slower, not worth it. Core and Viper Thrusters is the best.
I usually just run northstar for frontier defense. the piercing shot is low key god on dealing with legion/N.T. trains on good choke points. That and removing reapers nobody likes reapers.
If you're good with her, yeah. I think the people that played her for 20 minutes and said she sucked are primarily Tone mains, who ares used to EVERYTHING they have being guided, so having to actually aim is too much for them
Anyone who thinks Northstar sucks has never played against Dinorush13. Northstar excels at hit and run attacks, attacks from unconventional angles, and punishing bad positioning. Northstar's speed combined with map knowledge allows for quick repositioning and being able to punish enemies who pursue (that will be the main use of tether traps/cluster missle). The hover can be used effectively to hit targets from places they were not expecting over obstacles, or enabling you to do a quick peek shot from around a corner by utilizing airstrafing (viper thrusters help a ton) to pick up speed, going around a corner towards the end of the hover, then dashing back into cover as you land.
As for the flight core, it plays a similar role to the tether traps and cluster missile, but has other uses as well. It works excellently for nuking an aggressing titans HP and can be used as a hover ends to gain extra height (this allows extra height to be gained to get into some funny spots)
Huh bad up close up close is how I'm use to using Northstar I like to use viper thrusters and turbo engine to my advantage to dodge and weave while trapping my enemies and exploding them with my missles
because they behave like campers, hiding on the edge of maps, firing their stupid guns. if you would do that with a spitfire people would loose their minds
Your in a 2 v 1 titan fight, then here comes Northstar, always at a distance turning it into a 3 v 1. Then Northstar mains tea-bagging? You all are miles away from the fight, calm down.

But for ion and scorch sheild you need to little down their sheild use and then use the missile core to wittle down the health and then 1 shot or 2 shot the self destruction
didnt this game die, IS IT STILL ALIVE? NO ONE TOLD ME THIS GAME IS ALIVE WHAT, IM HOPPING ON
It is, its runs great on pc, and if you are patient enough, you can play on console as well
I just run around and put traps got so much hate mail
Northstar took my family from me
An interesting way to use Northstar is to use twin tethers and nuclear eject then suicide into the first group of titans that you see. You can thank me later in hell.
Well id be mad too if I couldn't camp on a rooftop bc a flying sniper roasts my ass sincerely "get better movement"
It's funny how I'm still being recommended videos for this game despite the servers being dead or just plain fucked.
Those that hates titans either don't know how to properly master them or counter them.
Please tell me I didn't see the words 'Daddy Legion' in the beginning
To be honest we already have Papa Scorch so I dont know how I feel about two dads
I think Ion would be good for the next titan brief
People hate northstar cause whenever they see one they get ptsd from fighting viper
😂
Hey ttgol,
Do you have any Ion tips?
She’s my main in frontier defense and I would like some knowledge from a G100
Lets see, im a very aggressive player actually, i use my vortex shield a lot to deal damage and im always a mid to close combat player, dont use the trip wire unless you need it, its really a waste of energy, only ads when you have the upper hand and if its a NS ADS to deal max damage and pressure them. Laser shot its only good on fleeing titans or titans that dont know where you are. also Dont engage too far away unless you are not going in, pocking titans is a priority, the laser shot is great danger free damage, laser shot one then hide, recover some energy and do it again until your confortable to get in and finish the enemy.
@@ttgolll Okay, thx! Have a good day
5:18 brutes: Why? :(
How come every video about norrthstar says to take cover? I literally run at the enemy ALL THE TIME
Tip for northstar: don't spam the primary its better to wait and get full charge hits. Its not monarch or leigon.
@@TheGreatCyberwolfTrue, then youre right in using Viper Thrusters. Anyone annoyed enough will go after you if you exclusifly focus titans.
When drg video???
drg? sorry whats that
@@ttgolll Deep Rock Galactic my good sir
Honestly northstar would of been so much fun if she got brute's primary from the campaign the abilities make sense for it too
Brute has its own kit in the campaign, but the tether and cluster missiles are replaced by BT's kit, the vortex shield and multi-target missiles.
As a real North Star main I don’t need enhanced payload to kill a whole team
Cap, watch the cap! Scorch is obviously the best Titan!
sorry mate, he weak but fun
All facts
Monarch better
This is my favorite titan and the one I use the most and get lost of MVP
I usually just run northstar for frontier defense. the piercing shot is low key god on dealing with legion/N.T. trains on good choke points. That and removing reapers nobody likes reapers.
As a northstar sweat the fact people say it sucks confuses me cause it counters everything if your good with it
If you're good with her, yeah. I think the people that played her for 20 minutes and said she sucked are primarily Tone mains, who ares used to EVERYTHING they have being guided, so having to actually aim is too much for them
As a northstar main i wouldn't say that she is hated
0:05 smartest monarch player
I fell in those pits on the map a handful of times, i just simply forget those are fatal.
Viper thrusters I’m a bit bios
It fly flying things hard to burn scorch not like things hard to burn
How does he have three dash bars I only have 2? Console btw
Yes, use the turbo engine kit to get the extra dash.
Northstar has its potential. I just have not gotten the hang of it.
She does, she can deal insane damage but you need to be patient and smart when using her
I fucking love Viper
Viper is daddy for sure
@@ttgolll only way to save Apex Legends is to add Viper
whaaaat? my favorite titan is hated???
i like northstar before i could buy monarch i did northstar before i found how nice tone is
I'm the annoying Northstar that picks off fleeing Doomed titans.
as a northstar main i love northstar 👍
Scorch seems to be the respectable sort of titan (I just stared playing) but the only ones I'm good at are northstar and ronin
I'm pretty sure about 80% of my time in a titan is Northstar. She's just too fun not to use
because they behave like campers, hiding on the edge of maps, firing their stupid guns. if you would do that with a spitfire people would loose their minds
What? Northstar is my beloved. I do rather well with it.
Yes I am a Northstar main
daddy legion
mommy ion
Northstar is my favourite, him and scorch.
Out of the 2, northstar is my main
Northstar literally my main shush
Your in a 2 v 1 titan fight, then here comes Northstar, always at a distance turning it into a 3 v 1. Then Northstar mains tea-bagging? You all are miles away from the fight, calm down.
I just use northstar cus i love Viper🗿
Vamos locos vámonos loquitos si tu tambien loco si tambien vas loquito
Haha doomed titans goes brrrrrrrrrr
Idk how many cocky Ronins ive shit on that rushed me lol Northstar is my baby ❤
cause all northstar player play like their scared of their w key
Me being a notherstar main😏😏
Who cares I can’t play the game. 😢
I thought you meant Northstar as the servers. I was about to call you an EA sellout.
Apologies, keep going.
the only episode where this series was wrong on "why people hate ________" was on tone i love tone so much
Northstar is pretty good but every time I see her gameplay I ju-zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
as soon as I'm able to get my titan, there is a random Northstar sitting in a random position ready to snipe me 100000000 km away as soon as I embark
this happens too many times
im tired of this shit man
I hate Northstar becaus eno matter how hard i try i will never be Viper
