I play legion so usually not the same usually, but I had a Scorch once who would do nothing except rush right at you and use his shield. First few times was annoying because he was eating my shots, next few were even more annoying, then I said screw it and started titan boxing. I won. Best execution I've done.
I believe its because Scorch follows the same philosophy as weapons: You tend to have more fun when using underpowered weapons, I.E. ones that aren’t very good.
T-203 Thermite launcher is probably one of the best titan guns in the game. It does a lot of damage, a lotta flexibility due to the thermite residue and its only drawback is proj speed and ammo. Its definitely above the 40mm (since we’re only talking about primaries, theres no rockets to factor in) and maybe better than ronin’s shotgun
Scorch may not be practical to you, by I found that hauling ass down areas where nobody is fighting and getting behind the enemy to cause absolute chaos is brilliant. Even on open maps, a scorch behind enemy lines is horrifying.

I wish I could get games like that... But either everyone in my region or data center I guess? are all gods because they've been playing for a long long time like the people you match on old Halos or I just keep missing the time to be in my Titan because whenever I call my Scorch down, everyone's already dead and I'm just a sitting duck being pummeled, when is it practical to call your Titan down? As soon as possible? When your team has started calling theirs? I just don't know... Maybe the people I match up with are just all gods...
@@CommissarChaoticonly call in when enemy titans are either at a low health stat or only 1-2 to deal with. If it’s just you on the field you’re gonna get the dust blown out of your ears lol. Also when your teams calling in titans, you call your titan in. Help stack damage and if you know what you’re doing go behind enemy lines and hold the front from behind if that makes sense. Basically what scorch is really good at is holding the defense/ offense on any front. Thats why I use him. Plus if you know all the maps by heart that REALLY helps. I’m a titanfall2 vet lol so hey I hope it helps a little and good luck to you
When I was playing TF2 Scorch was my main. My philosophy was to use the quick drop instead of the shield so that I could drop behind distracted titans and get close with the flame shield as fast as possible. Obviously this didn't always workout but when it did, I could easily get at least one titan and a flame core to finish off the rest. If then didn't work or I miss input my drop I would do what I called the long flank to go all the way around the action to ambush from behind or the side. Sometimes this took so long I would miss all the action but when it succeeded the results were always impressive. For such a slow titan, Scorch relies heavily on positioning which is part of the fun and the challenge.
Scorch can be strong, but my main issue is that Tempered Plating may as well be locked in because of how necessary it is. Given how often you're going to be standing in your own thermite you wind up doing more damage to yourself than the enemy does. If I could change one thing about Scorch I would remove the Tempered Plating mod and make it part of the titan as a whole. In terms of tactics, if you can get close enough try and launch a canister behind your enemy, and light it with a flame wall. When they go to retreat they'll be forced into it. If they don't retreat, and instead choose to get in close, try to bounce a canister of their face and use the flame shield. It'll light the canister and them. Pilot rodeoing you and you're out of electric smoke? Activate flame shield and look directly up. It'll kill them. You want to avoid long sightlines in a Scorch. Each map will have certain areas that you'll learn to avoid, or learn to hang around. Close Quarters is where a Scorch thrives.
100% agree, I made a video about both tempered plating and inferno shield, I feel tempered plating should be a given for scorch, it went from reducing damage taking from fire to nullifying the damage completely, it's just so hard for scorch to complete if he has to worry about his fire, tempered plating allows scorch mains to set traps and be much more aggressive, inferno wall is cool but damage from the regular shield combined with the fire from castasters and fire wall is way higher and vertical than a bit more damage that inferno shield provides

As a scorch main… what? I used to use tempered plating, and trust me, it’s anything but necessary. Inferno shield is the way to go. On the surface, scorch appears to be an area denial based titan, but in reality, he’s a melee titan. His area denial is to punish enemies for retreating, and his flame shield is to screw em up if they don’t retreat. I almost never throw thermite at my enemies, always past them, to slow their retreat. And I usually don’t chase very far. I hide behind corners and jump out at my enemy, like springing a trap. And if you strike quickly and save your dash, you can keep up with your enemy and remove their health bar before they can realize what’s even going on
I might actually switch from maining Ion to maining Scorch, because I always have a ton of fun playing Scorch, because when I use thermal plating, there's no stopping me. I will get up in people's faces, using my Thermite launcher, my flame shield, and the rest of my kit to do as much damage as possible. I run turbo with Scorch, simply to be able to constantly push forward, to make my enemy's life a burning hell. That's why I love playing Scorch.
Besides close range, I think Scorch's strongest suit is crowd control/area denial. If you need a hallway cut off, a lane blocked, or a shelter purged, scorch is ideal of this. It's good for team play to set other titans up for a better shot or in objective defense modes against AI for taking out swarms of weaker enemies
Scorch may be a tough titan to play, but it is actually the only titan that allows for creative plays. And it is all possible with his thermite launcher. Did you know if you hit a piece of terrain, it will cause specs of fire to fall to the ground? This can be very useful to confuse opponents, deal damage when uou don't have line of sight on an enemy, hit them around corners and probe the area for enemies not currently on your mini-map. This is an exponentially more powerful tactic when you equip Wildfire Launcher as your kit by increasing the amount of fire that rains down on your opponents heads. The only downside is you need extensive map knowledge to pull this off, but it is a fun way to experiment. Plus, Scorch is the only titan who can hit titans across the map if you get lucky or over cover. It takes quite a bit of finesse, but you shouldn't always run head first into combat if you don't have to. This is why Scorch is my favorite and who I have the most play time with. It is a difficult style to play, but has the most combat possibilities and ways to fight creatively.
I think that the optimal way to play scorch is much more passive than what you show. Almost tone-like, but shorter range. You hold some cover, like a corner, and shoot traps and thermite grenades (wildfire launcher kit) at enemies that are far from you. If they shoot back, take cover and peek with thermite grenades. If the approch your cover, throw down a firewall on the track that they are approching you from and then use thermal shield if the get too close. If everyone is just avoiding you, find a new place, closer to enemy titans
I just bought this game yesterday and GOD it's such an amazing game. Great campaign that made me feel like my teenagehood when I used to play games and be really enthusiastic about them (which proved to me that the issue is not with my aging, it's with the game devs). A big shout out to all the content created that made me eager to play this game.

Auto Scorch with smart chip and fireproof armor is pure fun on most of the maps, even big ones. It has lot of health, its abilities have big area so it doesnt need real player accuracy, also most of players underestimate auto titans thinking OH YES FREE BATTERY and don’t know that I’m lurking nearby, and Scorch can protect himself with heat shield. Also it can destroy infantry gaining victory points while you are focusing on enemy pilots and warn you that enemy pilot is nearby (good if you don’t hear sounds of Jetpack in intense firefight). Also Scorch is the only auto titan which can kill Ronin without my help in close combat, having free Core! All I need is to jump in the cabin and to use Flamethrower. I swear I almost have relationship with my Scorch buddy in multiplayer as Cooper with BT in singleplayer. Sometimes my Auto has more kills then weakest players in enemy team…
My favorite thing to do as scorch is to turn on my microphone in a public match, and when I get a titan running which happens often, I start cackling like a mad man into the microphone Serving up that well done pilot steak

When I first played titanfall 2, I knew I wanted an ogre titan. Scorch was the first one I got my hands on obviously, and I had no idea he was the hardest to play titan in the game. But when I learned how hard he was, I didn’t care. Scorch is just cool. He’s huge, on fire, and swag af. He’ll always be my main.
I played the campaign before multiplayer, and from the Second I unlocked scorch, I never looked back, played through the entire story with him, including viper, and exclusively use him in multiplayer with inferno shield. He is an absolute monster in close range

Scorch is called Papa scorch for a reason and that is becouse while his love is burning and fierce, it can also be warm and shooting becouse Papa scorch hates No one Papa scorch loves everyone just the Same. And a True scorch main doesnt t bag No one, they love everyone just the Same even if it is a tone main or a Ronin main, if the pilot is nice and they accept peace they will meet the warm and soothing side of Papa scorchs love. And that is becouse they dont want to be toxic, they just want to enjoy the game. This is the biggest step one must take to become a True scorch main, dont hate anyone but love everyone you meet, even if they are toxic

I think scorch isn’t bad, you just have to play him different than other titans. I play him like a support role. Call in scorch, get close to a friendly titan(preferably not another scorch), and defend that titan from close threats. Usually just being there will deter titans from getting close and pilots always underestimate scorch’s ability to kill pilots. A ranged titan and scorch working together is a terrifying thing.
as a new titanfall 2 player when I first played the campaign and got the scorch loadout I felt like a god burning down everything I touched melting titan after titan after titan so I decided on my second playthrough I would do scorch loadout only (the only exeptions being the viper boss and before you actually get the scorch loadout)
I always used flame core with the thermite trail addon as an indroduction instead of a finisher. They have the choice of limping away while taking the tick damage or trying to engage while I'm keeping them on it with the shield. it works even better on the maps that were mostly hallways
IMO I think scorch is best when he has tempered, when u flame canister them from behind and ignite with wall, although wall is small and not useful for small units like pilots, a titan is very big. If they step from toe to toe they take damage. Now that u have a huge area of flame where the enemy titan has to retreat to, and a line of which stepped on will do massive damage, dashing in with shield allows you to take very little damage while dealing a lot of damage. Now when enemy is doomed the best thing u can do is to execute as you are invincible + style points. Not only are you invincible but your abilities are still doing damage to surrounding enemies. Basically giving you I frames and damage. Making scorch pretty easy to play and win.
When the servers were still running, I was a menace as Scorch, I figured out how to counter most Titans and could nail a pilot from a distance with the launcher. Now that the servers are back I appear to have lost my touch however.
With the aegis upgrades, the thermite launcher can launch up to 3 thermites before reloaded. Granted, it will take time to get there, but your first aegis upgrade is being able to fire two thermites

As a legion main, I run nuke eject just to deal with scorch. I’ll get a scorch to rush and use their dash then I eject, even if I still have most of my health when I dash backwards. Scorch is definitely not weak just different and require a unique way to play
The only way to properly play Scorch, is to the most unhinged and aggressive Titan in the server. You have a ton of health, and you must abuse it in order to shove your fist half way down the enemy Titan's throat
I still think scorch is the sole reason they should've buffed ronin's leadwall, literally the only option against scorches, other than the electro wall.
If you can get behind enemy lines during titan dominace in attrition or titan brawl, prepare to completely shatter their tactics and destroy their line. Scorch is a fantastic pick on Blackwater Canal for this reason. He's also a great choice in a complex because it's a f*cking hallway and the enemy has absolutely nowhere to go unless they have a Northstar, in which case they can go up.

i feel if you at least got two or three shots with the thermite launcher like in frontier defense that tiny bit would make a world of difference while not making scorchy worchy too overpowered , Alternatively either the the damage could be buffed or the reload animation made shorter

When I first played titanfall 2, I knew I wanted an ogre titan. Scorch was the first one I got my hands on obviously, and I had no idea he was the hardest to play titan in the game. But when I learned how hard he was, I didn’t care.
Scorch is just cool. He’s huge, on fire, and swag af. He’ll always be my main.
I played the campaign before multiplayer, and from the Second I unlocked scorch, I never looked back, played through the entire story with him, including viper, and exclusively use him in multiplayer with inferno shield. He is an absolute monster in close range

Yes this is an old video but i still have To say this. Scorch is called Papa scorch for a reason and that is becouse while his love is burning and fierce, it can also be warm and shooting becouse Papa scorch hates No one Papa scorch loves everyone just the Same. And a True scorch main doesnt t bag No one, they love everyone just the Same even if it is a tone main or a Ronin main, if the pilot is nice and they accept peace they will meet the warm and soothing side of Papa scorchs love. And that is becouse they dont want to be toxic, they just want to enjoy the game. This is the biggest step one must take to become a True scorch main, dont hate anyone but love everyone you meet, even if they are toxic

I think scorch isn’t bad, you just have to play him different than other titans. I play him like a support role. Call in scorch, get close to a friendly titan(preferably not another scorch), and defend that titan from close threats. Usually just being there will deter titans from getting close and pilots always underestimate scorch’s ability to kill pilots. A ranged titan and scorch working together is a terrifying thing.

as a new titanfall 2 player when I first played the campaign and got the scorch loadout I felt like a god burning down everything I touched melting titan after titan after titan so I decided on my second playthrough I would do scorch loadout only (the only exeptions being the viper boss and before you actually get the scorch loadout)
It’s-a-me, formerly Blitzwave, returning to say that I am still a proud Disciple of the Almighty Scorch, and I have purchased scorch prime.
I always used flame core with the thermite trail addon as an indroduction instead of a finisher. They have the choice of limping away while taking the tick damage or trying to engage while I'm keeping them on it with the shield. it works even better on the maps that were mostly hallways
The biggest flex is destroying a scorch with a firestar.

IMO I think scorch is best when he has tempered, when u flame canister them from behind and ignite with wall, although wall is small and not useful for small units like pilots, a titan is very big. If they step from toe to toe they take damage. Now that u have a huge area of flame where the enemy titan has to retreat to, and a line of which stepped on will do massive damage, dashing in with shield allows you to take very little damage while dealing a lot of damage. Now when enemy is doomed the best thing u can do is to execute as you are invincible + style points. Not only are you invincible but your abilities are still doing damage to surrounding enemies. Basically giving you I frames and damage. Making scorch pretty easy to play and win.
When the servers were still running, I was a menace as Scorch, I figured out how to counter most Titans and could nail a pilot from a distance with the launcher. Now that the servers are back I appear to have lost my touch however.

With the aegis upgrades, the thermite launcher can launch up to 3 thermites before reloaded.
Granted, it will take time to get there, but your first aegis upgrade is being able to fire two thermites
I love scorch and he’s my 2nd main after legion but I really wish he had a decent range flamethrower rather than the thermite launcher.
Scorch is alike the Northstar, they are niche, mains are few, masters even fewer but when cross one's path..... My man you feel it. Scorch is made for small and or 3d area. You find a scorch in the plain, you laugh, you find a scorch in a cramped city, you ded man, just eject....
Note, incendiary traps dont stack damage. Also the fact of how if the titan is only 1hp under half hp flame core skips doomed state is great
I play a lot of frontier defense and I can say I love Scorch. It’s just too satisfying to flame core 5 titans at once.

As a legion main, I run nuke eject just to deal with scorch. I’ll get a scorch to rush and use their dash then I eject, even if I still have most of my health when I dash backwards. Scorch is definitely not weak just different and require a unique way to play

The only way to properly play Scorch, is to the most unhinged and aggressive Titan in the server. You have a ton of health, and you must abuse it in order to shove your fist half way down the enemy Titan's throat

If you can get behind enemy lines during titan dominace in attrition or titan brawl, prepare to completely shatter their tactics and destroy their line. Scorch is a fantastic pick on Blackwater Canal for this reason. He's also a great choice in a complex because it's a f*cking hallway and the enemy has absolutely nowhere to go unless they have a Northstar, in which case they can go up.
