Bought one this past weekend in Portofino Gray, and I love it. Great ride, and the 191hp is strong. Based off driving it for a few days, it seems like that number maybe lower than it really is. I almost avoided it, due to reviewers saying it felt under powered, and I couldn’t disagree more. Once I did the test drive, I knew it was more than enough. For some reason, most reviewers, including Joe, refrain from comparing closely related vehicles from KIA and Hyundai. Yet because of the many shared components and features along with some critical differences consumers may well be more likely to cross shop vehicles from Hyundai and KIA than either brand with vehicles (such as the Passport and Outback) from other automakers. In this case, the Santa Fe XRT is a closely related comparable vehicle compared to the Sorento S X-Line trim. In terms of differences the Sorento offers foldable third row of seats, standard AWD, and slightly larger overall cargo space for essentially the same MSRP as an AWD Santa Fe. In addition, the Sorento offers an optional panoramic sunroof that isn't available on the Santa Fe. In short, anyone considering either the Santa Fe or the Sorento would do well to consider the other vehicle with the same engine and drivetrain, infotainment system, and a host of other shared components.
It baffles me too. GM tries to differentiate between Sierra and Silverado, but there are differences. I feel like because Kia marketed the Telluride as a more off-road capable vehicle, this may be Hyundai's answer to have an off-road capable flagship.
Hi Joe, I was watching the video (love watching all your videos BTW) but it seems like the video cut off when you were going to take the Santa Fe for a spin. Was that on purpose or an editing error?
I don't get all this off road stuff, most Americans the closest they get to off roading is a speed bump at the CVS drive through. No serious off road enthusiast is going to buy this anyways, they will buy a truck or a jeep or something.
I own a 2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.0 turbo and I’ve been pretty pleased with it. Good vehicle for the price. It’s nice that they’re trying to appeal with an off-road version, but I don’t feel like this hits the mark. If you’re looking for something to handle off-road driving, I’d recommend other brands.
I agree especially shit add air lift Suspension and get rid of the crappy tires and plates underneath at least then you can advertise it like everyone else does with their off road package but on the other hand it made be done with the santa cruz
I just bought this xrt and same color yesterday and love it. I might get the all black xrt when it gets back in stock for me and my wife's the blue one
An extra inch of ground clearance and some meatier tires would have gone a long way, but would have impacted the fuel mileage. It's definitely not a true off road vehicle, but it's a good base to build off of for some lighter duty stuff. The non turbo engine is fine for most people and it drives smoothly with the 8 speed auto. The under floor storage in the back is something that people just don't talk about enough. I had to search the garage trying to find things to put in there and it keeps the cargo area completely free of stuff other than what you carry temporarily. you can also remove that divider in the forward part to make one huge storage area. My Limited is the Stormy Sea Blue and it truly is a fantastic color. I don't know why Hyundai doesn't offer more colors, though. They have some great ones in other markets.
What do you actually get w the xrt trim for the 1600 bucks besides black paint and badging? a skid plate made out of what? running boards which can hinder you off road but these dont stick out alot so i like them for ease of entry and roof access. curved cross bars are something but i would replace w flat yakimas. spare tire is on the outside which is nice but it needs to be full size. a tow hitch should also be included. to make it a real off road trim it needs taller tires and a one inch lift, tow hooks, more skid plates and a full size spare. optional turbo wouldnt hurt either. i like how hyundai lightens their roof pillars and headliner from the black interior bc all black is too much. listening honda? you dont get alot w the passport trailsport besides a v6 so this santafe is a better deal in my opinion. no sunroof is ok w me but they should all have 110v outlets w usb a and c front and back. when compared to the wilderness the subaru is prob the best offroader in this class though. actually rated #1 in midsize two row suvs for 23 by motortrend. santafe second. venza 3rd? it would be really cool to see a highlander sans 3rd row w a trd pkg, but nothing really compares to a jeep gc overland does it? thats 60k plus so these are ok for the price. ill stick w a laredo for now until they really juice up the passport ts like the pilot but it will prob cost 50k plus.

Hyundai dropped the ball on this XRT, on what is an otherwise great SUV. They let the Hyundai bean counters prevail, by leaving out obvious "off-road" features like a front-facing camera, real AT tires, the higher torque Turbo 2.5 and the infamous turn-signal dash cameras - WTH Hyundai?? C'mon. I'm glad you cut the driving review off early.
The car is more pretender than contender, especially if the off-road positioning is supposed to be taken seriously. Better to cut the driving portion of the video entirely than to include a few seconds of it, then mysteriously jump to the end with no explanation. Don't leave viewers scratching their heads and perhaps jumping to conclusions.

I would rock this vehicle but really not a fan of turn signals at the bottom of the back bumpers
People will take the Subaru Wilderness to go off road camping comparing with the Hyundai…!!! The low ground clearance of the Hyundai will not be enough !!!!
If you want to go off road. Spend 2k more and get the 4runner
That is a fantastic idea!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ saving !
Interior materials much better on this than Tucson!
Running boards not necessary, wiper blade placement 👎
Now that is interesting!
This or Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
That is a very good question.
@@RaitisRides Voila😆😆😆😆😆😆
The car is more pretender than contender, especially if the off-road positioning is supposed to be taken seriously.
Better to cut the driving portion of the video entirely than to include a few seconds of it, then mysteriously jump to the end with no explanation. Don't leave viewers scratching their heads and perhaps jumping to conclusions.
You said "let's see what's under the hood of this Subaru XRT" instead of Hyundai XRT".
Ever hear d of Sigmund Freud?
Beavis ha ha ha he said dutie
