Looking at her 2023 set of accounts, she has done extremely well. She has 380k cash in bank which is rare, and it seems like she still owns 100% of the business. Having said that, it wasn't really an investable business at the time. Maybe her appearance on DD gave her the publicity she needed.
2 much time on your hands looking her accounts up fkinell
Is this comment a copypasta lol? I've seen it pasted on multiple dragons den videos.
How would you even know? Lol looking at her 2023 set of accounts. Bruh
@@raw_riot_6917 Have you heard of Google Search? You should try it some time.
@Maurice Harley "Set of accounts" you're making it sound like you are seeing any of her buisness accounts. And depending on how her buisness is doing, only big businesses would even show on a Google page......you're also being called out for copy and pasting. Take the L lame attetion seeker.

Peter "The Taxman" Jones has no idea what many people have to do to make ends meet.
exactly
Same to Duncan
@@davicool4284 yes
I see you've watched Ghosted😂
Doesn't he. His businesses went bankrupt years ago and Duncan started from nothing. How about people stop expecting handouts
Business is currently doing well!
I know this is from like 15 years ago but I think even then a mail advertising strategy and catalog was a bit outdated. It baffles me now that mail advertising still happens; for me it always goes in the bin 😅
Mail advertising is still quite effective especially in local communities and towns, it's direct, more personalized and it's easier to target individuals in a community. Digit advertising is evidently superior however there's a reason physical advertising still exists.
Peter places maximum emphasis on entrepreneurial character and he let her go. Yes her ideas were naive but you could see she would evolve. “It’s in the doing the idea comes!”
I really liked her, and I don't have an issue with her using state money to help kick start her business, but no one is talking about the actual quality of the furniture? It looks kind of horrid to me!
Compared to the standards of now. It's 2023. This was likely almost 20 years ago!
@@TheManInBlueFlames Okay true 😜
@@TheManInBlueFlames your point makes no sense, furniture used to be way better years ago, her furniture is just indeed horrible quality
Thankfully Theo clarified the benefits point which seemed to infuriate the other dragons. Good on her for making something from nothing
More episodes where they have to walk up the stairs
Season 5 is bangers
😂
They never used an elevator. I looks like it yes, but do you ever see them going up or down? TV magic 😃
"Single mother with 4 children under the age of 8" - I'm out
She is quite resilient though. Gotta give her props there.
@unidentified You are so weird.
@unidentified Nah mate, I don't continuously post made up facts on old Dragon's Dens clips. It's really, really weird.
What a woman 👸
This lady is 100 % correct. It's amazing how little the dragons know about accounting and business structures and the law governing businesses. A limited company is independent from its shareholders and directors. The dragons obviously have accountants in the background taking care of the nuts and bolts. Shareholders and directors can receive income and benefits in a multitude of ways to limit drawings, personal exposure to tax and other obligations. This is why accountants are so critical to a business or understanding accounting.
She's scamming the government. Trying to minimise what she takes out from the company profits so that she does not lose her benefits that you and I paid for.
I hope she has been successful and is living more comfortably now. She came across very well in this video and clearly had her head screwed on. Wish her all the best
Most amusing. Good luck.
I would of given her an offer. She was cool headed and despite coming off a little flowery with some of the Dragons. I feel she was overlooked / under-estimated.
It's not really an investable business. The purpose of the business is to pay her living expenses and it doesn't have much scope to grow beyond that. It's a family business, not an investment.
I'm a single dad and have my kids constantly but because I'm male I get no help
Rubbish
So inspirational 😂
If you don't take a wage from the business and it's making £20k profit, well it's not really making a profit is it? 🤨
She's scamming the government. Trying to minimise what she takes out from the company profits so that she does not lose her benefits that you and I paid for.
It is making profit, but for the firm only.
@Paul W.A Yes the school of "Paul WA Gov scammers."
Why do you think it's not making a profit? Its incomine is £20k higher than its expenses. That's profit.
Poor lady they hardly talked about her business
I dunno they claim to invest in people… No one was more all in than her. Glad she’s prospering to this day!
I absolutely loved Theo in this one. Sadly with the Tories in power I doubt the benefits would be there now.
She needs 60k to live if she comes off benefits, so how much is she being paod in benifits
The implication that shes defrauding the government was really nonsensical and uncalled for, thank you to Theo for insisting on adding some sense
Hated the way the Dragons questioned her about the benefits. If the government offers schemes for single mothers, what's wrong with using them? They exist for a reason. These millionaires sit up here with no grip on reality and how the rest of us survive. It's possible to interrogate someone without acting like they're a fraud.
They showed their true colours.
@@desoliver9712it's because they are rich snobs that haven't experienced the struggle. They think everyone can just go back to their house and not worry about bills.
They are worried about their Rep..and more money
Fair enough
the father of her 4 kids should be paying child maintenance, if he has any money then that will easily be ove £3000 a month.
He probably is paying child support but with benefits you don't have to declare it, also it doesn't fit into the single mother of 4 narrative
Ahh yes when having the Internet was rare
Debra Meaden! Organic yeah
Last from your view
The millionaires sure do seem nosey on a woman getting mediocre benefits.
It honestly made me uneasy. So detached from reality.
They're terribly worried she's receiving some of the taxes they almost certainly don't pay.
There once was a dragon named Jenny
Investments she made were not many
There was never a doubt
She would declare "I'm out"
She hated to part with a penny.
Omg how has no one replied to this?. The best comment by far 😅😂😅
@@juliet7703 Like most of his comments, we've heard it many times.
BenjaminGoose, why don't you just change your name to My Pillow Guy? People would think you're an actual creative person and not some lame copycat?
@@juliet7703 Thanks! 😁
Anyone else think she looks like princess Diana ???
there are similarities
Yes, my first thought
It seems like there's no way for single mums who have businesses. They are being scammed here!
Millionaire's often have no idea sometimes. Spanish Inquisition not necessary.
well if you want your home to look like grandmoms then this is for you.
Wonder if HMRC are watching this .. 😮
What she did was probably legal. but is it moral?
Probably a hundred times more moral than what the dragons get up to.@@bluceree7312
She reminds me of princess Diana !
Aww I thought the same 😊
without prince Charles 😭
Yes!!
They are benefits claimants haters
Some of the dragons showed there true colours judging her for getting state help.
Exactly. Rich guys that probably benefited from the state themselves in some way. Disgusting.
State help is for those who need it. She's a successful business woman making thousands in profits. Whey should I subsidise her living?
Also, did she think about the effects of having 4 children?
@@bluceree7312 And when she files with those profits, she won't get the aid any longer. They aren't subsidizing her living.
You clearly didn't watch the video or listen to what was said.
How do you think anyone is supposed to get off of aid if they can't actually earn anything?
I think it was a kind of goverment scheme to help people kickstart their bisness...but apparently she is doing very well so I'm assuming she is no longer on receiving benifits
@@juliet7703 exactly, and she mentioned that. You're allowed to make 5000 pounds and keep full benefits, but above that, they reduce the benefits on a sliding scale, and at some point, the benefits stop.
Needs to earn £60k to survive? What bull. 🤬
You think £60k split 5 ways is enough?
@@BenjaminGoose you think having kids and not being able to financially provide for them is good enough?
single mums are on benefits, she's building her business, rich people not knowing how the world works
Rich people make the world work !
@@asim9738 no, companies make the world work
@Nathan Piper and who do you think owns the companies you numpty 😂
@@asim9738 owns every company out there,?rich people do do they, no not every company, there are lots of small to medium size companies that also run the country and you might find they make up the bulk of companies
"Rich people make the world work" AHAHAHAHA, no, the workers make the world work. Take away the workers and society collapses.
So a wage of 60,000 is the only thing that will combat her drawing benefits to fund her life style and business, that's what's wrong with our benefits system.
Yes and she done it she’s very successful
@user-zj9xd1wi6g it's criminal that benefits carried her through then frankly.
Why? Business tax and personal income tax go back into the system. It's a success story for everyone.@@hazzardoutdoors
39% stat is nonsense. Surely
First broadcast in 2008, so if the stat was a couplefew years out of date then, it's probably believable.
The furniture is hideous
Working the system... she would have a field day here in Sweden.
She's not working the system, she's taking what she needs to keep her and her kids alive while trying to create a living. Isn't that literally what every "boot strap Andy" wants?
@@kelmanl4 I disagree. Let's leave it at that.
The only thing she did wrong was have a terrible taste in furniture.
The government funds ur buisness and makes u rich and successful because she 4 kids she cant support. lost all respect
You think she's rich? You're clueless.
@@BenjaminGoose with a responce like u just had, yeah, it's pretty clear ur clueless.
Why on earth is it bad for government to fund businesses that allow poor people to start businesses and break free from slavery? And to provide more jobs in doing it
Duncan is too rich to understand a struggling woman trying survive with 4 kids. And others too
Yest he came from nothing himself. Hypothesis. And today Duncan looks tired and beaten. He above all people should understand and when questioned she was cool, calm and collected
The answer is DON'T HAVE 4 KIDS.
@@felix1974 You have no idea what her situation is, beyond the facts that she has four children and is currently single. You have no idea how she became single, or the circumstances under which teh children were conceived. Don't be so judgmental.
@@beeble2003 Regardless of how she became single, if everyone on Earth had 4 kids , the planet would drop out of orbit with the weight and resources would be wiped out far far quicker. Then add the fact that she does not support them, I'm sorry it's not for the rest of us to do so.
The word bespoke didn’t exist before the CERN hadron collider was first used in 2012. Prove me wrong
What on Earth are you talking about? The OED has citations for "bespoke" going back to the 1750s and the LHC became operational in 2010.
🎉😂❤
So many people critical of her for using benefits to try and get up on her feet…i dont get it…
Would you prefer she uses the benefits for snacks and cable Tv instead?
No I'd prefer her to spend it on living while she secures a stable income rather than her potentially risk everything from the state on a business.
If she had all this time. Why not work 16-40 hours a week and reduce the money she takes from tax payers like me?
Why have all these kids without ability to provide is probably a better question?
"Why not work 16-40 hours a week" With 3 kids in nappies, lol you people are so clueless.@@Nonegiven14582

4 kids under 8. Aha....plenty alimony to start up the business from the ex and all planned ahead of the poor guy's kids. Seen it many times before. Awful way to ruin a man and the children with a pretentiousness of French Polishing. Yup.
My dad paid £45 per week / child... Nice riches
Sigh, tax-dodging millionaires criticising others for government assistance.
What a horrible episode. Never watched this for benefits debates.
I have zero respect for mother who become single mothers by choice, that’s an awful thing to do. But if she lost her husband or something like that it not her fault.
Right? And having no income but chooses to keep having more children. Why should the tax payers pay for someone's poor choice like that?
@@RattPoison80 "And having no income but chooses to keep having more children"
The only thing you know about her situation is that she has four children and is single. You know nothing at all about how she became single or the circumstances under which the children were conceived, but you construct scenarios from zero evidence, and judge her for that stuff that exists only in your head.
At her age how can she have 4 kids under 8??
You do realise women don't just shrivel up once they hit their 30s, right?
"heavily pregnant" your either pregnant or your not
what a benefit cheat
She’s is declaring everything so no she isn’t
How?
"I can't invest in you because at some point you'll need a wage". Let that sink in.
What's to sink? The point is that her business will shortly be profitable enough that she won't be able to claim benefits any more. At that point, her entire living expenses will have to come from a wage paid by her business. That will significantly increase the business's expenses, so the business needs a big injection of money. Most of the £106k she's asking for will go straight into her wages, rather than into growing the business.
Owning a business? During the years 2006 - 2018, I owned two businesses. I had to deal with Companies House and the vile HMRC! These two organisations drove me away from business-owning - I have been in a better mental and financial state ever since!!!!
hopefully she is proud of what she has accomplished and shame on the disgusting piggish dragons

Which one?
She’s declaring everything so no
