She really didn't care what anyone wanted...including Kate and Anna
And here it is... the real reason Sara is so desperate to fight. It's not for Kate's sake. Maybe at first it was, but now it's pretty much only for her own sake, to spare herself the pain of losing her favorite child. And looking at Kate's face as her mother berates the people laying out the truth, I can almost hear what she's thinking. "She'll never let me go. She'll never let me die in peace."
Yep. 100% truth.
I don’t think Kate was Sarah’s favorite…she was just so young when she got sick that Sarah became laser focused. I genuinely believe that Sarah thought that if Anna donated the kidney-that Anna would be ok and Kate would be ok and everyone would be fine. And considering the book ending i understand that thought process. But the movie i think is more realistic-Kate was always going to die and since it wasn’t going to save her life it wasn’t worth it for Anna to donate her kidney. But that pain was too much for Sarah and it blinded her. People in grief can convince themselves of a lot….
I officially hate Sarah, Anna would be crying and screaming before every surgery and her own mom would ignore her and force her to donate
I can see anna being forced into the operating room for all those years
Can we talk about the lady tho very very professional didn’t beat around that bush , knew who she was dealing with and how she had to tell her
You don't sacrifice one child to save another. That's like saying "no don't shoot my daughter. Here, shoot my son instead."
i mean no mother wants to give up a dying child either. I feel for the mom but i also understand the daughter's pov.
Hard to say. It's a complex situation
True love is putting whats best for your child above your own needs and wants, she should have taken her home to spend her last days in her own bed with her family
Kates mom loved her but it was hard for her to her go. I know didn't give up hope .but if she had enough fighting then let her go.
Maybe, but the love was still mainly self-based. At this point it isn't even about Kate anymore, it's about Sara desperately trying to spare herself the pain of losing her daughter, disregarding the fact that Kate was suffering and didn't want that life anymore. I think if she truly loved her, she would listen to her and respect her wishes.

Children under 16/18 should never be allowed to donate an organ, no way can they be fully aware of the consequences and no one has the right to coerce them into doing so
Only repleacable body constiuents such as blood and tissues should be allowed for child donors. This is awful.
I know now there trying to cut a kidney out of a kid who already had been donoring her whole life
watching this after “sophie’s choice” is really like SARA SHES GONNA DIE JUST ACCEPT REALITY FOR FUCKS SAKE
