Different times and needs though. Still, a lot of the time now the news is whisked through so fast - and some of the other programmes - that's it's over before I've even had a chance to think about what they're saying. Brief pauses and spaces in talking and choosing how much to display on the screen are a bit like white space in printed text and graphic design. Also Thames arranged that the half hour interviews would have no commercial break in them. It would run to 25 minutes, with the commercials aired after the programme had ended, to ensure the flow of the interview was not disturbed.

For all she got wrong, she got an awful lot right, the retake of the Falklands was absolutely necessary for Britain to have any sort of pride in itself. Let alone the actual legalities. On Belgrano specifically, she was correct - dreadful as it was to sink the cruiser. It was trying to bring about a pincer attack and take out a British carrier, which would have meant end of attempt to retake the islands. Horrible things have to be done during conflict.

Captain Hector Bonzo - the captain of the Belgrano has said more than once that the British got it right. He was planning on button-hooking back into the exclusion zone to get shots at the British ships. He also agrees that strategically the British did the right thing. If his ship had not been sunk - he would have sunk British ships. That was his plan.

A48272 (n sad situation).......In late 1977, Silvia Morella de Palma, who was then seven months pregnant, was airlifted to Esperanza Base, in order to complete her pregnancy in the base.[3] The airlift was a part of the Argentine solutions to the sovereignty dispute over territory in Antarctica. Emilio was automatically granted Argentine citizenship by the government since his parents were both Argentine citizens, and he was born in the claimed Argentine Antarctica. This is a sector of Antarctica claimed by Argentina as part of its national territory, although this claim is not internationally recognised and overlaps with British and Chilean claims.

Unfortunately, we've never lived in a free market. And we've lived in a very socialist country since 1945. Thatcher simply made some minor, indeed overrated tweaks. And, if she hadn't, someone else would have, whether another Conservative or even a Labour Prime Minister. Indeed, while in the UK, the US and Canada it was the centre-right that enacted these reforms, in New Zealand and Australia it was the centre-left!
