Great interview... from Mrs. Thatcher's side. I could see she was not a disoriented old lady after leaving Parliament, as movies and shows portrais her. She was still very poignant.
Very good interview. Some of the questions may seem a bit silly, but they are in fact not. They often refer to different kinds of criticism of Thatcher at the time. About how she admittedly proved that women can achieve a lot in today's society, but how typical a woman was she really, if she was an Iron Lady at home as well, how good her negotiation skills were and ability to make compromises if necessary etc. Thatcher was of course aware of this and therefore it is very interesting to listen to her answers.
Lady Thatcher didn't think twice about calling Stina out on fallacies of logic & "gotcha" questions intermixed with flaccid ones. Her reaction when asked to jump is vintage Thatcher. I think the period after she was PM & before the dementia took hold was when she was the most clever & outspoken. It's hilarious to hear her backhanded comments about some of the more juvenile questions she's asked and Stina's uncomfortable laughter. Mrs. T did NOT joke. I haven't seen this interview in a long time & it still is fascinating to watch.
I think she didn't feel constrained by party politics anymore, so she felt freer to speak her mind. She didn't owe them anything. After all, they stabbed her in the back.
I’m totally anti Trump. But I will always be pro Thatcher. She had her faults but they were her convictions and nothing was from malice or evil. She was marvelous! My mother (a labor supporter) respected Thatcher more than any prime minister we ever had. Bless her!
What in hell was the interviewer thinking? She had a great chance of interviewing a historical great political leader (Thatcher is considered the best prime minister ever after Churchill), and the interviewer asks such dumb questions, and asks her to do a jump at the end. The most amusing thing was that Thatcher was actually insulting her in a very polite (and british!) way and the interviewer did not notice. The only thing this interview was useful for was to show Thatcher's intellect and how puerile was the final request of the interviewer.
Ai Zhongguo She is the second prime minister to whose funeral went the Queen, besides Churchill. The UK is a very different place, and she turned it from being 'The Sick Man of Europe' back into a healthy economy. Sure, there were people that hated her, but that does not take away that she was very influential.
jpnarino Yes she was influential but then so was Hitler. Every British PM is influential. That didn't stop her colleagues from getting rid of her. She had a state funeral because she died under a Conservative government. Yes, during times of cuts when money could not be found for anything, £10,000,000 was pulled out of a hat. God only knows what public services perished in order to fund it. The head of state will always attend state funerals, that's kind of obvious. The Queen would have little choice on the matter, its part of her duties. She was removed from power by her 'friends' because she was a liability. In other words, the British public did not want her in power. That's hardly the stuff of legends.
Ai Zhongguo She was highly influential, more than other PMs in 20th century except Churchill. She did not have a state funeral by her own wish. The Queen went because she wanted, as it was not a state funeral. A big part of the funeral costs were paid by her family, and the estimate of her funeral cost for the state was more on £3,000,000, not 10 millions. She was removed from power due to her strong opposition to Europe, and her confrontational style with her own party. Altough she pissed some people off, in general the public in the UK liked her and voted for her, don't forget she is the only prime minister also to win 3 elections. Just get your facts straight!
jpnarino I wouldn't even argue with that moron who is fucking daft. Apparently that shit-for-brains thinks that garbage piling up on the streets and bodies not being buried in 1979 pre-Thatcher is its idea of fucking paradise.
I asked my father who fought in tanks throughout WW2 whether, when Germany had occupied the whole of mainland Europe, whether he thought at any time that we might lose the war. He sat back at age 80+ and thought a short while before pursing his lips and simply saying - No. He was no true blue conservative. Born in the valleys of South Wales where his mother would not let him go down the mines so he joined the army as a better option. 'I didn't know that there was going to be a bloody war did I?' In those days everyone fought for Britain whether you voted Labour, Liberal or Conservative. That is what made a strong but diverse society.
As a British chap, Thatcher was an embrassament in this vid. I get she wanted to big up the UK but this is painful. She did a great job in kicking the can down the road but British decline is inevitable.

No! She's a journalist, not Agneta Faltskog.
When I tell you I laughed hard 💀💀💀
a) Woman, not girl
b) really, I mean: really...?
@Sergei you got them
Thatcher really rules. Amazing interview! (Thanks to Thatcher, that is...)
I watched this back on Swedish tv 30 years ago. Remember being embarrassed over the silly questions and how cool Mrs Thatcher was. To hear her speak again just is joyful. How clear and absolutely right she was about socialism and liberty. I just hope the Brits could come around from the path they seem to be on and once more be the good leader for freedom and courage
I simply adore Mrs Thatcher, as a Swede I do apologize for this silly Stina.
Kunde inte hålla med dig mer. Man skäms.
Typical of sweed
If this is the best interviewer Sweden has got to offer, you`re in a really bad state. She was horrible, and Thatcher completely owned her.
I'd love to see how Margaret Thatcher would react to the events of 2020.
I wouldn't - she was an ice-cold discriminating bitch.
@@joepsalden8273 yes, discriminating as long as it was about this socialism delusion, in which I agree with her fully.
She'd bring sense to all of it!

We love you Mrs thatcher, rest in peace
What a fantastic woman!
Sweden needs a leader like her for the next ten years, instead of the jerk we have now.
She was very impressive and knew what she stood for.
Oh yes and she was spot on! Listen to when she says socialists want people to depend on the State - this is EXACTLY what is happening now with the corona bs...... Way ahead of her time and we need a leader with passion...
@@lavieenrose5954 there's a good book called Socialism: The Failed Idea That Never Dies
@@benjaminbelzer5693 Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out...
I dont know much about politics but I do know that it is an important aspect of our lives. It is neither my capacity nor position to judge what Lady Thatcher had done during her administration. However from the way she talked, her demeanor, that agitated look in her eyes when she talked about her philosophy and principles, I can tell how strong-willed she was.Kind of person who knew her mission and live to see it through.
28:08 Margret owning her
I have watched every interview that Thatcher has ever done - some are more business like than others. Terry Wogan's was very personal and my feeling is that this interviewer got quite a bit out of her & she was not afraid of such a giant 8/10
the interviewer was an embarresing idiot. You Fool.
A purile interviewer
An astonishing interviewee!
What an amazing lady was Margaret Thatcher
This woman wasn't intelligent enough to interview thatcher. It was kinda embarrassing.
Or... Thatcher was intelligent enough to choose an interviewer who not ask her uncomfortable questions.
She did try to dig the dirt a little..
You are obviously not intelligent enough to know proper grammar. That’s kind of embarrassing.
@@nossenos16 Kinda is informal and I wouldn't use it personally but it's not incorrect. The interviewer showed her true colours at the end of the interview by asking her guest to stand up and jump, which was entirely disrespectful, especially for a woman of her age.
@@stevebbuk Well, I just think when criticizing someone for being less intelligent, try at least to get the spelling right. As for the interview - Dabrowski knew all along Thatcher wouldn't agree to jump - that's the whole point, to show the total lack of humor.
Is this chick serious? Did she actually ask Margaret Thatcher to jump in the air? Mrs. Thatcher is around 70 years old in this interview, so why on earth would she do something irrelevant and foolish like jumping up and down for no reason? You have got to be kidding with this!
That's just one of those things Stina Dabrowski asked everyone she interviewed to do. Mrs. Thatcher was one of few to refuse.
still a stupid bullshit request/programme that make me as a swedish a shame.....
The look on Thatcher's face when she's asked to jump! hahahahahaha
I think it was the same face that anyone with a brain watching it pulls, to be fair...
Today they had ask her to kneel. Its getting worse than ever.
@@abrakaleo agreed
I think it's really sweet when the interviewer tells Thatcher about the taxi driver who wanted her back into politics. :)
If she had "jumped" it would have been her lasting legacy in the media, instead of her decades of great work. And Stina knew this as did Mrs. Thatcher!!
She was amazing.
Incredible interview! I was only a child when she just resigned. Currently we miss out on politicians like her.
Watching this makes me realise how weak Gillian Anderson was in The Crown. The interview year is after Lady Thatcher stepped down as Prime Minister and her intellect is blistering. The Crown her portrayed her as slow and confused. Poor.
It makes me rather emotional watching this.... thinking what the United Kingdom once was, to what it is now, a kingdom divided, bitter, mean; and each man seeking to force his will, his self interest, on another in what ever way he can, no longer through the rule of law. Because the rulers we now have do not respect the rule of law themselves, and are passing often useless laws. People might hate Mrs Thatcher, but you knew where you stood with her.... A house divided will, eventually fall.
"I make great leaps forward not lil jumps in studios" - Classic well said Maggie. ...💯👍
this interview is classy ,20"50 i love the part Stina says you are good at getting away from my question and Thatcher says i am good at making you formulate your questions properly. hahaha.
I loved this part, too!
You can (and should) detest her politics but you could never doubt that she was a conviction politician.
27:51 "You amaze me. I wonder what he thought of the politics of a free society if that's what they ask you to do." hahahahahahaha
a class act .
GOLD
A very polite way of saying “You’re an idiot...”
😂
"I only have help in the house 5 times a week in the morning" lol
The interviewer has an IQ anywhere between a plant and a rock. "Do you believe that women are more peaceful than men?" This reminds me of Madeleine Albright responding to "would the world be a better place if it was ruled by women"? Albright: "If you believe that, you've forgotten all about high school".
@@richardwillford2418 that’s pretty much the same thing. Look at what they’re doing to their own country. It went from being a role model for other countries in Europe, to now being used as a terrifying example on how bad things can get. They did that in under 20 years!
I couldn't stand her at the time but would welcome her back Today, what a mess this country is in and what weak weasels we have today.
Male Prime Ministers in Britain other than Churchill have always been a weak kneed lot. Even though I didn't agree with some her policies I thought she was real a great politician and Prime Minister.
too fucking late now. You lot got rid of this woman because she was stern and tough and she has a point.
God bless you, dear Maggie. What an intelligent and strong-willed Lady. And what a loving wife. Her relationship with Denis was really loving and strong
Thatcher truly cared for Britain.
Somehow reminds me of Farage, he must not give up and safe our great country from going further downhill.
We must not go back to Socialism. Thatcher my hero
One of the greatest leaders in world history!
"Do you like being a woman?..." The interviewer has such disrespectful attitude! The last question was so silly.
That’s the point of the programme though, it’s Swedish television at it’s best. The interviewer “Stina Dabrowski” is known for these programmes and she interviewed a lot of leaders and actors with the same uncomfortable questions.
She is a swedish hardcore communist
@@ianbakke Uncomfortable questions? They were idiotic, rude and were cast aside with ease by a far superior intellect. A complete embarrasment ... as you say, its Swedish television at its best... I think that sums it all up nicely 👌
I’d like to think it comes down to interviewer’s inefficiency in English language. Wouldn’t expect her to be intentionally blunt/rude.
I just love Mrs Thatcher.
Who doesn't....
“Nothing can be loved or hated unless it is first understood.”― Leonardo da Vinci.
Never seen this, and loved her to begin with, but didn't think it was possible to love Thatcher any more.
She's amazing!
I just started watching ... is this the interviewer who famously tried to get her to ''Do a little hop?''
The jump at the end was the gimmick of these interview programs. The interviewed person would jump and was then frozen before reaching the ground. Perhaps with the purpose to show that people with a lot power also can have a sense of humour and not always have to take themselves seriously. Then Maggie came on to the show...
A great Prime Minister who made Britain great again!
Maggie wasn't having it
Hate it when the interviewer keeps cutting her off
I can't believe she threw so much shade at Sweden. Everyone loves sweden .
Margaret Thatcher was brilliant of course and Stina who did the interview made me ashamed to be a swede…..
Best answer about the jump
The Prime minister is in terms of personality so much higher than the interviewer. Swedish woman may have Aspergers as she asks questions but she is in not interested to hear answers in slightest....I wish Margareth Thatcher would be around again and lead our country.
One of the best politicians ever! This politic character could be very useful even in our lifetime!
Maggie was still on top form here, loved her taking her down

She had a Great personality but she was also uncaring at times. I do like the way she speaks her mind and not scared to upset people.
She does a great Gillian Anderson imitation!
Great comment
Så kul när frågan om kvinnor är mer fredliga, hon ser det som frihet att slås för sina rättigheter, Stina ser det ur socialistiska synvinkeln, man får det man kämpar för, håller med Tatcher
11 and a half years in number 10 .. and since this lady left number 10 has there been anyone better? i do like Boris though .
Jag hade nog hellre valt att begrava en intervju som fick mig att framstå som direkt ointelligent. Problemet var inte att Järnladyn var skarp o bossig utan att hon var så in i h-e intelligent.
Great interview... from Mrs. Thatcher's side. I could see she was not a disoriented old lady after leaving Parliament, as movies and shows portrais her. She was still very poignant.
This interview is heavily edited especially after Thatcher put her back down a peg or two
Honoured and brilliant
Very good interview. Some of the questions may seem a bit silly, but they are in fact not. They often refer to different kinds of criticism of Thatcher at the time. About how she admittedly proved that women can achieve a lot in today's society, but how typical a woman was she really, if she was an Iron Lady at home as well, how good her negotiation skills were and ability to make compromises if necessary etc. Thatcher was of course aware of this and therefore it is very interesting to listen to her answers.
The questions are very stupid indeed. 'Are the British better' is especially an extremely childish question. Thatcher tore this woman a new asshole.
Great woman,great interview 🙏🏻💖
Bless her!
Agree, thanks for sharing Zane...
Thatcher was certainly not the best PM after Churchill. I should remind you that her death prompted street parties and a number 1 hit.
Just get your facts straight!
jpnarino
I wouldn't even argue with that moron who is fucking daft.
'I didn't know that there was going to be a bloody war did I?'
In those days everyone fought for Britain whether you voted Labour, Liberal or Conservative. That is what made a strong but diverse society.
As a British chap, Thatcher was an embrassament in this vid. I get she wanted to big up the UK but this is painful. She did a great job in kicking the can down the road but British decline is inevitable.
