Lead investigator of Flight 427 reveals accidental discovery that solved mystery

In the moments before Flight 427 plummeted into the earth in Hopewell Township in 1994, the pilots had just 27 seconds to try to figure out what had gone wrong. Discovering the answer took investigators four years. Chronicle traveled more than 700 miles to Savannah, Georgia, to speak exclusively to the lead National Transportation Safety Board.
