Though, I don’t know about all of them; Phil’s not been a favourite for me especially since I finished season 3, mainly for how he treated Mitchell at the end of that season and in season 4 along with other things he did. I feel that Phil didn’t have as much character development as the others did like Haley and Jay. Mitch’s character growth compared to Phil in their relationship showed at the end of season 9 where he defended Phil despite how Phil did the opposite to him in the early seasons; Phil never apologised to Mitch or regretted what he did to him and never thanked him for having his back in season 9. Again, none of them are perfect, but Mitch deserved better when it came to his and Phil’s relationship even though there weren’t a lot of episodes that centred on just them.

Haley and Alex maybe as well but there was the Playdates episode in season 7 where they and Luke didn’t have anything special planned for a birthday surprise for Mitch and had to improvise and make it seem like they cared. Although hearing them say nice things about him as their uncle and how he gives them great gifts for their birthdays made me a little happy.

If so, I disagree, Phil mistreated Mitch awfully in the early seasons: season 3 episode 23, Tableau Vivant and season 4 episode 10, Diamond in the Rough, Phil lied to, humiliated, let Mitch be mocked, disliked and threw him under the bus to protect himself and let Mitch be the bad guy in both those episodes and he never apologised to him or regretted that he’d done and put him through all that in both episodes. Even when Mitch thought that Phil was sorry and going to say it to him in Tableau Vivant, he never got an apology from Phil. As for Gloria, she didn’t do anything like what Phil did, but the worst I recall is in season 7 when she, Jay, Manny and Claire wanted to boycott Lily’s soccer game and they all lied to Mitch so he wouldn’t be mad at them, they still showed up out of guilt and Joe told the truth that Gloria shot Jay’s foot to make the lie they made up to boycott more believable and so Mitch would feel like the bad guy for being mad at them.
12:17 this is one of the saddest scenes to me. It shows how coming out took a way a constant in his life that took a while to get. He was known as a momma boy before bc of the divorce, but this really drove that nail in
She really was. Mitch was still close with his mother, Dede, but he loved and accepted Gloria as family all the same as she did for him. For one thing, Gloria even told Claire in season 3 that she loved Mitch as her stepchild more than her. My favourite moment of Mitch and Gloria’s relationship is the moment where she stepped in with Jay to walk him down the aisle for his and Cam’s wedding day ❤
We always mention how Mitchell gravitated more to this Mom, but I always feel they miss at least one particular connection where his Dad was estranged from him when he first came out to him and instead just talked to his Mom. Meanwhile, Claire Is hyper criticized by her so she gravitated towards Jay (and his approval).
I think I even remember one line when he mentioned his dad used to call him all the time on the phone until he came out and said he was gay. Then suddenly the calls just stopped. The reason Jay is a better dad to Gloria’s kids than he was to his own is because I like his first wife Gloria makes him treat ALL his kids with respect and show affection no matter his pride .

Guys don’t get defensive. Firstly, the story needed to be continued and that’s why Mitch faced so many stuff. Also, he had a loving family and a loving husband. That is what many gay men will never have unfortunately. Jay’s character represents the older generation who are more conservative and closed minded. People like him can relate to him. But the great thing about this show is that it shows how Jay was trying to change and become more accepting because he loved his family. Each character had their own flaws and that was very real and what made this show special. Because none of us are perfect. Each character went through their own struggles and journey and I think the important thing is that they all stayed together and faced their challenges as a family. Although Jay was a traditional man, his family was not a stereotypical traditional family. His wife was a latina, his son was gay, his daughter got pregnant and married her bf, his granddaughters had bfs etc. Showing that people can change to support their loved ones, is very powerful and also shows that even though they have a “modern family”, their struggles are just as ordinary as other families. Nobody was toxic here guys. It’s all about teaching people why certain behaviours are bad and why we should support each other no matter what. These cuts are from the middle of each episode and at the end of each episode, the characters learned a valuable lesson.

Idk if this is popular or unpopular but: Mitch deserved better than Cam. This video doesn’t showcase that specific part that much, but I feel like their relationship was always very Cam-centered. They’d argue everyday and in the end Mitch was almost always the one who compromised, and whenever Cam seemed to compromise, there was always a twist or some mind game. Besides, I mostly felt like they hated each other. Like, they loved each other but hated everything ABOUT the other.
That’s kind of exactly why I think they’re perfect for each other. They’re both incredibly flawed and can be super toxic but when it counts, they’re fiercely there for each other. And you’re plain wrong about the relationship being very Cam-centered - so many episodes are about Mitchell being problematic (can’t kiss in public, didn’t add Cam’s last name to Lily’s BC, would rather get trapped in a princess castle than admit he’s terrible at building things, has a midlife crisis that Cam supports). Cam gets way too much hate - he’s an incredible father and a very loving husband and personal cheerleader when he needs to be.

I’ve almost finished watching all of Modern Family, and from the very start to the end, I can say without a second thought that Mitchell Pritchett is hands down my favourite character in the show. This video here although focuses on all the hardships and sad moments that Mitch had to put up with and go through from his own family really breaks my heart and makes me feel sympathy for him, but the fact that he would always stand by and love all of them, even though more than half of them were awful to and treated him dirty; Mitch deserves to be recognised as one of the best in this show because he’s there for them and although he did questionable things and lied to them as well, Mitch would have never mistreated any of them unless he was wronged first and deserved to get even. Yet that’s probably not what happened a lot of the time, proving how good and lucky everyone is to have and call him their family whether he’s their husband, father, brother; step-brother; half-brother, uncle, son, step-son, son-in-law, brother-in-law etc. All of Mitch’s relationships with everyone grew and developed such as with Jay, Cam, Lily, Claire, for most of the others there were a few moments, and all showed how important family is to him and them ❤ I relate to Mitch so much and say without a doubt he deserved better. There are a few moments not included such as how awful Phil was to Mitch in the early seasons: Tableau Vivant (season 3) and Diamond in the Rough (season 4), but all the moments included here say and capture it all. 3:13 - 3:24 Even though Claire wasn’t helping by trying to justify the lie they all planned and to weasel out of Mitch being frustrated with her, I have to admit that it was nice that she could actually say *I’m sorry* to him, her brother unlike her husband, Phil. Every time Phil mistreated Mitch in the show he never apologised or showed any regret for what he did and put him, his brother-in-law through. Also, he didn’t always thank or appreciate Mitch for most of the times that he helped, stood up for, defended and had his back. The family were all lucky to have Mitch. Not that he was perfect, of course, but he didn’t and I don’t think would ever have done even half of the things they wrongly and unfairly did to him.

I know it’s supposed to just be funny.. but some of the Epiphanies Cam and Mitch have are good for anyone. Most have to deal with be kinder and less selfish. Actually.. the entire show is about navigating personality clash in a fun way. I wish my family had some of the keys they do. Like my family has everyone you’d want.. smart, athletes, musicians, writers.. etc. what we don’t have however.. is whatever strings keep a family attached and wanting to fight it out. It’s sad. Our new patriarch is a worst case scenario.. I just never imagined it could do this level of damage.

I don't think it was fair for everyone to force Jay into situations he wasn't comfortable with. He wasn't a hateful man, he was just raised a different way. He loved his family and would do anything for them. I mean if everyone expected him to be more accepting and open minded then they should of accepted him for who he is, it goes both ways. I myself am a gay man but I'm also realistic and try to respect other people's beliefs and views.
I can understand where you come from, but I don't think people pushed Jay into uncomfortable situations at all. They even TOLERATED "his beliefs" for a long period of time, refering to Mitch and Cam not being able to kiss in front of him, or how most of the arguments in this video didn't end up in people turning against Jay, they just "left him be". Ofc, people would be upset (reasonably I belive) at him, but none forced him to do anything. Jay did have trouble expressing emotion towards Mitchell and showing affection. But he gets better.

That is what many gay men will never have unfortunately. Jay’s character represents the older generation who are more conservative and closed minded. People like him can relate to him. But the great thing about this show is that it shows how Jay was trying to change and become more accepting because he loved his family. Each character had their own flaws and that was very real and what made this show special. Because none of us are perfect. Each character went through their own struggles and journey and I think the important thing is that they all stayed together and faced their challenges as a family. Although Jay was a traditional man, his family was not a stereotypical traditional family. His wife was a latina, his son was gay, his daughter got pregnant and married her bf, his granddaughters had bfs etc. Showing that people can change to support their loved ones, is very powerful and also shows that even though they have a “modern family”, their struggles are just as ordinary as other families. Nobody was toxic here guys. It’s all about teaching people why certain behaviours are bad and why we should support each other no matter what. These cuts are from the middle of each episode and at the end of each episode, the characters learned a valuable lesson.

So true, and Mitch’s family were all a big part of his world, yet more than half of them mistreated and took him for granted, but Mitch would still love, support and stand by them despite that, making them all lucky to have and call him their family.
Idk if this is popular or unpopular but: Mitch deserved better than Cam. This video doesn’t showcase that specific part that much, but I feel like their relationship was always very Cam-centered. They’d argue everyday and in the end Mitch was almost always the one who compromised, and whenever Cam seemed to compromise, there was always a twist or some mind game.
Besides, I mostly felt like they hated each other. Like, they loved each other but hated everything ABOUT the other.

That’s kind of exactly why I think they’re perfect for each other. They’re both incredibly flawed and can be super toxic but when it counts, they’re fiercely there for each other. And you’re plain wrong about the relationship being very Cam-centered - so many episodes are about Mitchell being problematic (can’t kiss in public, didn’t add Cam’s last name to Lily’s BC, would rather get trapped in a princess castle than admit he’s terrible at building things, has a midlife crisis that Cam supports). Cam gets way too much hate - he’s an incredible father and a very loving husband and personal cheerleader when he needs to be.

Cam started as a fun and a ympathetic character and ended the series as a toxic parasite with less maturity than their teenage daughter and less intellect than Haley 😂 and 9 out of every 10 episodes Mitchell ends up “in the wrong” he is objectively correct at the end of the day. Not a debate. Mitchell did deserved better.
I’ve almost finished watching all of Modern Family, and from the very start to the end, I can say without a second thought that Mitchell Pritchett is hands down my favourite character in the show.
This video here although focuses on all the hardships and sad moments that Mitch had to put up with and go through from his own family really breaks my heart and makes me feel sympathy for him, but the fact that he would always stand by and love all of them, even though more than half of them were awful to and treated him dirty; Mitch deserves to be recognised as one of the best in this show because he’s there for them and although he did questionable things and lied to them as well, Mitch would have never mistreated any of them unless he was wronged first and deserved to get even.
Yet that’s probably not what happened a lot of the time, proving how good and lucky everyone is to have and call him their family whether he’s their husband, father, brother; step-brother; half-brother, uncle, son, step-son, son-in-law, brother-in-law etc.
All of Mitch’s relationships with everyone grew and developed such as with Jay, Cam, Lily, Claire, for most of the others there were a few moments, and all showed how important family is to him and them ❤
I relate to Mitch so much and say without a doubt he deserved better.
There are a few moments not included such as how awful Phil was to Mitch in the early seasons: Tableau Vivant (season 3) and Diamond in the Rough (season 4), but all the moments included here say and capture it all.

Even though Claire wasn’t helping by trying to justify the lie they all planned and to weasel out of Mitch being frustrated with her, I have to admit that it was nice that she could actually say *I’m sorry* to him, her brother unlike her husband, Phil.
Every time Phil mistreated Mitch in the show he never apologised or showed any regret for what he did and put him, his brother-in-law through. Also, he didn’t always thank or appreciate Mitch for most of the times that he helped, stood up for, defended and had his back.
The family were all lucky to have Mitch. Not that he was perfect, of course, but he didn’t and I don’t think would ever have done even half of the things they wrongly and unfairly did to him.

I don't think it was fair for everyone to force Jay into situations he wasn't comfortable with. He wasn't a hateful man, he was just raised a different way. He loved his family and would do anything for them. I mean if everyone expected him to be more accepting and open minded then they should of accepted him for who he is, it goes both ways. I myself am a gay man but I'm also realistic and try to respect other people's beliefs and views.
I can understand where you come from, but I don't think people pushed Jay into uncomfortable situations at all. They even TOLERATED "his beliefs" for a long period of time, refering to Mitch and Cam not being able to kiss in front of him, or how most of the arguments in this video didn't end up in people turning against Jay, they just "left him be". Ofc, people would be upset (reasonably I belive) at him, but none forced him to do anything. Even for the wedding, once he confessed he was uncomfortable with the situation and he didn't accept him as who he is, Mitch made it clear he didnt have to go to the wedding of HIS OWN SON.

Comedy shows do sad when they run out of comedic ideas. It usually turns out really boring.
Having some sad, real moments makes comedy shows better. This show was more than just comedy jabs. Either people complain about too many jokes or they complain if anything is serious at all.
