Fun fact: one of the writers in the show this actually happen to his parents they took sleeping pills on a plane that never took off so they were going around the airport just like this so he loved that story so much he put it in the show
One of the reasons why I love watching Modern Family is that the writers integrate a story of their lives or their parents' into the show. Seems more grounded and fun.

Although I'm laughing at this, as an airport worker, this frustrates the living daylights out of me because I've witnessed this behavior all the time. It still surprises me how many people I'll see come to the airport under the influence or getting buzzed or drunk to the point they don't realize that they have to be on a plane and lose attention of their surroundings
I bet it's frustrating but also flying is scary so I get being buzzed for it
Imagine working those flights with these passengers on it. Even worse.
