Cam (Eric Stonestreet), Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), and Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) visit Cam's childhood Missouri farm for the first time. When Cam’s grandmother drops by to visit, it’s revealed that the family never told her about his sexuality. Cam doesn’t know how to break it to Mitch, so he introduces Mitch to Gram as Bud, their new farm hand. Just when things can't get more complicated, a tornado warning hits. (Season 5 Episode 8).

True, but Mitch did try to make an effort to be supportive of Cam’s farm life and to do the things that he loved and were important to him up until Cam lied about who he was to his gram and was disowning Lily temporarily - I think that puts Cam in a more worse position than Mitch.
