It's crazy to see how you've refined the techniques, but it makes me feel nostalgic to see the difference between how my grandma would've made them all by hand and how I can use a mixer to cut the time and effort. Made some to surprise my boys. They loved them. I tweaked the vanilla extract to half Mexican Vanilla & Anise extract. I also used the Mexican flavored strawberry & chocolate powders. If you use 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp vanilla You get that traditional crumbly almost powdery consistency from the topping The flavor is good on these but the topping was crunchy and like a solid peace just not the same

I noticed you have a few recipes on concha’s one you’ve used regular milk and the other evaporated milk.. which recipe do you think is best? I’ve tried the one with milk and really liked it. Does the EM make a difference?
Word of advice: If you don’t have a stand mixer like hers, don’t mix all of the wet ingredients with the dry. Mine came out super gloopy and I have to keep adding flour. The recipe came out great anyways but I just wanted to let yall know. My family loves your videos Claudia💕

Hi Claudia, I just stumbled on you updated concha recipe! Your last recipe is the most amazing concha I ever tasted that just melts in your mouth! I didn't think your conchas could get any better! You mentioned you added another egg to this updated recipe, but it looks like you also switched out the Crisco butter shortening on the topping for butter. Is the butter that much dreamier? Should I too switch out the Crisco shortening? Also, can I freeze the dough? Trying to make freeze them one week and then do the topping a week later. All help is greatly appreciated!

Trying this, hopefully they come out good. Did you stop using anise extract. I saw older video before this one.
Two questions, what speed do you use when mixing the dough? Also if my dough is runny afterwards do you recommend I mix longer or add more flour?
