I am so glad I found this video. This is the 5th review I've watched for liquid-glass screen protectors and the only one so far that provided independent test results. I really appreciate all the work you did putting this video together. I didn't trust the CellHelmet video where they dropped a pinball on a phone since it was a video from the maker, so seeing an independent review is worth a lot. Seeing 16" compared to 10" is significant enough for me to buy this.
Buy the ones that come in a little bottle of the liquid, then just dump it on and spread it evenly. You get a nice thick coating and it fills In all the scratches and divots in your screen. Works great.
Hi... what brand you bought.. I used crystalusion wipes which felt great but that's because it was 50p each when they were discontinued. I want to see scratch test on phones not using gorilla glass (motorola).
DUDE.... AWESOME REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!! RIGHT NOW IT´S THE BEST REVIEW OF A DEVICE I HAVE SEEN ON RUclips, EVERYTHING WELL EXPLAINED AT THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION!!!! YOU HAVE 10/10
Hey Aaron, your videos are awesome. I wanted to add to this liquid screen protector thing, while I learned a lot from this video and it did change my mind on the protection they provide. The first time I used a product like this was on my new S10 and the back is also glass. I'm not one for bulky cases, so using this liquid on the back glass (seeing as they don't make "back glass protectors" lol) did very much help the scratches from normal ware that I noticed with previous phones. Just a side note pro that I haven't heard anyone mention yet. P.S. I don't think the factory (Samsung) protects the back glass the way they protect the factory screen.
I've used a liquid screen protector on my Samsung phone. I put it on as soon as I purchased it nearly 2 years ago and its as good as new and still nice and smooth to use.
@ millennials have done more research than any other generation buddy. Remember millennials always had good internet services to look stuff up easily while ot was harder for older generations to look something up.
Thank you for the important information. I consider it acurate and non biased. This saves me from making mistakes buying bogus products wasting energy time and money.
Thank you for that video. I owned some whoosh a few years ago, I think someone gave it to me and had no idea what it really was. I learned a lot from that video. I was shocked to see it had any effect on the ball drop. Keep up the good work and by the way your dog is adorable.
Thank you for your testing of these liquid screen protectors. Seems like all I find are "ads" for them and no real honest review. I appreciate you taking the time to do it!
Great, you answered my main questions: 1 - If the liquid screen is any good, is there anyway to remove in the future if get's damaged? According to your answered, that's enough for me to stay away' 2 - If it's worth it, if does provide a good enough protection. So, thank you, as I thought, not worth the risk and I'll stay away from it.
The only one I've seen that I think is worth it is the cellhelmet one because even if it does nothing they will send you a prepaid debit card up to 300$ if your screen breaks.
Probably the most honest review I've seen on this topic. I feel like half of the reviews are really being paid to push the products. After being a several year user of these I do feel like SOME of them help some, but very few. The German made one that "protects against radiation" seems to be the best imo. I am ridiculously rough on phones so I always need to use a stupid heavy duty case as well. Honestly I wish Samsung still made the Galaxy S Active series. I was hoping they would bring them back but realistically the phone companies don't make enough money on a product that doesn't break.
Actually your review helped me on my note 8. I can apply this nano screen protector, then add a cheap but effective film screen protector to resist scratches, and voila! tempered glass really suck against these samsung edge devices...
There's one more thing to try, which you didn't mention. Try applying a few layers of the liquid screen protector, one after another. Since you get a lot of this stuff i guess it wouldn't be a problem for anyone else who bought, and i still wonder if it would actually strenghten the screen enough to take drop damage, and maybe it would even make scratch resistance of the screen better :D
I love how this guy just tells you the bottom line....as the top line in the first few seconds of the video. Appreciate it so much that I've watched the whole thing anyway lol
I just got a liquid screen protector put on my Samsung Galaxy S9 plus yesterday. I wish I had heard of this text before because it would have saved me a lot of money in trouble with glass protectors it works, it's clear, it's easy to put on
A lot of people really misunderstand what oleophobic coatings actually do. For the most part what they actually improve is the simplicity/ease of wiping the screen clean of oil and sebum as opposed to actually stopping fingerprints from marking the screen.
I'd love to see you do this test on the tempered screen protectors using BlackFire's SiO2 automotive spray!! It would be awesome to know if it provides the exact same protection as the small quantity you get in these packages for mobile devices or not. I've done a lot of research.. but I can't get the answers I need from people on these products. It would be a huge help for many people, so I'm hoping you will! Thank you!! Great channel!
Interesting fact, SiO2 is what is used in ceramic coatings on cars. They add gloss, hydrophobic properties and paint protection. You put it on windows too, but I haven’t seen it used to prevent breaks. Granted very different use case, just interesting.
Sio2 take 15 to 30 days to fully cure in most cases but to be honest a coating on the screen is usually to protect your screen from scratches with are usually caused by sand/dirt which will scratch any screen, protector, or coating. Best tip is to buy a phone with a non curved screen and apply a glass screen protector it's the best combo as far as feel, price and protection.
Would you recommend buying a liquid screen protector to coat a tempered glass screen protector? How well does the Bertha Test translate into drop tests? Will a liquid screen protector coating on my regular tempered glass screen protectors give me a noticeable increase in durability against drops?
I think a better way to test the scratch resistance of these liquid glass products is to put them on surfaces that that aren't the same hardness as the product. I don't understand what type of results you expect to see when both the phone and screen protector have the same hardness. A better test would be to put the liquid glass on something much softer and see if the liquid glass can make it scratch resistant to levels it wasn't before.
I use liquid screen protector on my phone for almost 3 years now, the best thing about this is no bubble ofc and if you scratch your screen after applying liquid screen protector, just reapply it about 1 or 2 times, the scratch will gone. tips. Reapply it every 4 - 6 month.
Your dog is looking at you, wondering who you're talking to. XD Nice review. I applied it on my zenfone once. Then I just went for traditional glass cover.
I was skeptical of liquid glass screen protectors but I’ve use the Qmaddix on my s8 for around 6 months and I’ve had no issues with the coatings or scratches or any other issue.
If you ever revisit this topic, you should testi t against ceramic coat products for cars (you can apply it to the screen too). Since it is also SiO2 so you could test if the phone products claim they have it, similarly to how spring water claims it's spring water
That’s one of the reasons seeing your watch I opted to spend a little more money for the sapphire crystal on mine. I’ve had 0 protection on it since release day and have 0 scratches. I’ve ran it into pipes, bottoms of sinks, etc it’s been ran into tons of different objects most glass ones would look terrible over in a short while. Thanks for the review though I’ve been wondering about going the glass screen protector route and you kind of confirmed most of my fears in even trying one out.
I can tell you from several years selling liquid glass products to customers as a phone rep, that i have only had 2 customers out of several hundred actually crack their screen with liquid glass. I have noticed small scratches diminish in size or even dissapear after application. But i never sell this to people with flat phones over screen protectors. For curved galaxy's and pixels etc. Its the only way to go, tempered is crap due to the curved edges. And the big selling point on liquid is the $100-250 warranty that comes with it. So even if it fails, they pay for repair.
They do make something similar to fill the cracks. I can’t remember what it’s called but I remember seeing it at a phone store. I only got the liquid glass because my phone didn’t have scratches or cracks
My thing is this: the idea that you cannot take the screen protector off is not, in my opinion, analogous to the idea that you can take the tempered glass off, so therefore: don't do it. This would assume that the tempered glass is impenetrable, hey just pull it off. I still think that for the drop protect alone, plus not adding bulk to the screen it is well worth it. People act like plastic screen protectors are somehow not without severe compromises themselves: they feel artificial, they scratch more easily: but we are supposed to give them a pass because they have been around longer. I am also not sure if your strip coating test did not add roughness to the overall screen: are we to assume that all you did was remove the coating and nothing else and by your own admission you stated that it "felt smoother." What I am saying is that I don't feel as if you gave the liquid screen protectors a fair assessment.
The 9H has NOTHING to do with the Moh's hardness scale. It relates to the PENCIL SCALE of hardness and it just used as a marketing gimmick. Essentially, a pencil with 9H hardness lead, will not scratch the surface. So many people are led to believe that the 9H is on the Moh's scale, which is incorrect. Some car care products even call the product Moh's!! Scumbags.
No, with the edge it's really hard to find a good one IMO. What did you end up getting? I did a glass wipe, dropped my phone, and was glad to have the coverage to get a new phone screen through Qmadix
The dome glass iPhone X screen protector has been the best I’ve used so far. It’s so thin you don’t even notice it, and curves around the edges. It too says it fills in small scratches. I don’t have scratches on my screen, but would be interested to see if that liquid that you cure with the Uv light under the screen protector actually makes you scratched/cracked iPhone screens look new again.
amazing im impressed since you shared exactly my taughts and i research when they first came out but didnt have your tools to colaborate my theory. Your level of communucation felt like a lecture from a PHD profesor and i agree my theory was nano on phone, nano on glass protector ultimate mix... but why dont manufatctures implement it on new devices. You should propose the idea but you know how hard it is with private policies and regulation at the corporate level. i must said you save me time if your in miami loom me up!!
Cellhelmet offers a guarantee with their liquid glass screen protectors. 70 bucks is a bit costly but it gets you $300 towards screen repair if you break your screen within a year and i'm not sure if they still do but with my order they sent me a 50% off promo code to use with my next order. I cracked my Google Pixel 2 XL screen 7 months after applying the liquid screen protector and I dropped it numerous times before it finally broke, I made a damage claim the next day and got my screen fixed the day after that. Now i'm purchasing the same protector for half the price and same day shipping 😁 I'm not sponsored or anything i'm just sharing my experience.
I had been using a liquid screen protector for my s8plus for 4months now and so far no scratches. I find that with these liquid screen protectors they give your phone an oleophobic coating- which is resistant to scratches. These liquid protectors are very ideal for phones with curved screens like my s8plus.
Does anyone else get super pissed whenever they watch videos on how tough these phone screens are(Gorilla glass5 these days) and think "great, I won't scratch my screen!" but then you put your phone down and a damn goose feather scratches your screen? Every time I look to buy a new used phone I see so many phones talking about there being scratches on the screen but yet everywhere you look people are making vids of throwing their phones out the window, dropping them from buildings, running them over with their cars, dragging them through the Sahara desert, etc. and NOT ONE DAMN SCRATCH! So I have to ask, How, HOW! the loving @#$% are people managing to get scratches on their screens!!!!! *bangs head on desk*
I just feel the same. I'm generally careful, don't lay the phone face down, avoid pockets with keys and try to be careful with the zip on the inner pocket of my jacket... Yet they always ended up with minor scratches. I used to hate adding screen protectors but since a film was installed on my new phone, I somehow got used to it.
Problem is, sand will always scratch glass. Even the micro fine sand particles found in dust. Dust causes much of the ultra fine feather scratches that mar many phone screens.
It would be nice to see you test Titanium Armor + or Liquid Armor as they have strong warranty and impressive videos that appear to show them working very well.
So if you hang out in the Auto detailing side of RUclips, or you're into that hobby/profession there is a lot of discussion on SI02. Any "coating" worth it's salt is usually 2% SI02 looking at the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet will tell you most percentages of SI02 in said product. If you want a really great product for automotive detailing or otherwise, checkout "Armor" by Dallas Paint Correction also check out Scott's videos because he's a great guy. He made this coating specifically to address SI02 lovers. It's a whopping 10% SI02 in his product. (Has independent reviews as well). It may not be cost effective if you're not into detailing at all, but if you want a superior product that you could apply and even dilute and use on other things that you want to be slick and clean it's a very easy choice. A mobile repair service could even offer it well below the price of these products and make a profit. Could even do it a a customer courtesy. Just food for thought. Great video btw!
4 years old, but exactly what I needed! I just got a watch off ebay and the seller photographed the screen in a way that the light didn't catch a wonderful large scratch in it, not unlike the one on your Series 3 at 8:27. "Used but like new" my ass, it's so bad I can catch the scratch with my fingernail. So off I go to figure out what I can do to fill in this scratch, and while trying to figure out if a liquid screen protector will fill in existing scratches I found this! Thanks for your testing, guess I'm just going to have to go with a tempered glass protector and see if that minimizes the look of it.
So I have a Motorcycle Z2 Force and want to put on a liquid screen protector, then a gorilla glass, followed again by liquid. On the Moto screen there's a very small "pinhole" towards bottom of the screen, which I believe is the microphone. So,I was wondering.... is the liquid glass going to cover it or seal it off, which would block or muffle the output after application?
Props for all the time and effort that went into (another) extreme in-depth review. Thank you for making these, Aaron!

@@NicholasCox85 I agree. I'm just voicing my personal experience. For me it worked great, and prevented scratches just like a plastic protector would.
If you ever revisit this topic, you should testi t against ceramic coat products for cars (you can apply it to the screen too). Since it is also SiO2 so you could test if the phone products claim they have it, similarly to how spring water claims it's spring water

You are natural infront of the camera!!
You got scammed. Glass already doesn't scratch that easily...that just sold you a warranty.
Hey can u tell which liquid protector u used ?
Really awesome and useful review!
Pockets have grit, even after the washing machine.
It would be nice to see you test Titanium Armor + or Liquid Armor as they have strong warranty and impressive videos that appear to show them working very well.
This is such a great video. I don't tipiclly sub to new tech channels becuase they all seem the same, but you go in deoth and I really appraeite it.
Great video btw!
i like your vibe and how you explain shit in depth. subbed.
I’m so obsessed with your videos, your dog looks exactly like mine!
Another fantastic video!
Thx!
Isn’t oleophobic coating applied to resist fingerprint(s)/skin oils? Wouldn’t the water drop test prove its hydrophobic properties?
I think the two go hand in hand.
Anyone count how many times he said screen protector lol
So many damn times. At least 30 times...
MobileReviewsEh haha. 🌹❤️
😂😂😂
David S take a shot everytime he says screen protector
Astonthepunk Punkish immortals as your boy Floss would say! 👍🏻 you would be wasted man
I've only used the Kristal original and it was worth the $10 just for the scratch and smudge protection. A quick wipe on cloth and the screen is clean
Nope. It does not effect the microphone camera or speaker
did you ever use the liquid?
