  • Are you sick of fingerprints all over your screen? I did this video a while back and it was just sitting in my backlog. I figured it was a good time to release it. Hope this helps people out.

I’ve also used those kind of oleophobic wipes. It does restore the factory feeling smoothness for a while but it wears off rather quickly like you observed. Works with fitness bands too. I like it, I just wish it lasted longer tbh. Cheers from a fellow OnePlus user.

I start cleaning w/ alcohol once I’ve come to terms w/ the fact my oleophobic coating has ghosted me & my screen is a smudge factory. Now to be fair, I suffer from having clammy hands (not all the time but seemingly often) which I hate & does no favors for my screen & prob why my coating doesn’t last long as I always keep a cleaning rag/cloth clipped to my iPad & constantly wiping it. It’s not to long until I start adding alcohol.
I’ve experimented w/ a couple DIY methods, (listed below if curious) seeing if any helped resistance to oils, smears, & smudges w/ marginal results. I’ve not found anything that works for very long, but again this might be because of my constant wiping. The products do at least make cleaning a lot easier & quicker for a period of time. The application is also much less time consuming than the one in this video.
    *Methods*
    - I treat my screen like a cars paint finish & just clean it well then apply a coating of car wax.
    - My old iPad I tried using a polishing compound by itself just to see what the results were like. (Yes, I’m aware any coating possibly left would have certainly been removed) -No, it didn’t work at all, but I did add a coat of wax again.
    - I now mostly use an application every so often of RainX which seems to work ok. Again, mostly just makes cleaning easier more than resistant. For me, I call it at least a half W…a V?

What i would do is apply it before i go to sleep, and the next day repeat it until the wipe has no coating in it for maximum effectiveness.

Hello! Thank you for the video ‘stop getting fingerprints on phone.’
I was wondering if this will also work on the back of the phone since iPhones have the same issue on the back.
Also wondering about iPhone cases, is there a certain material this shouldn’t be used on, If you know what material of the case is, is it safe to use on the backside of the case?
    Thank you!

Great video , the procedure reminds me of applying screen protectors. Following instructions to the letter and still having one or two pesky air bubbles which I would chase around the screen to no avail😂😂

To be honest, a glass screen protector, the coating wears off quickly. It gets even more smuggie than the normal phone glass. There’s nothing we can do to keep our screen clean. Just wipe it off occasionally and just don’t bother with it much. That’s what I do. Great video though.

How long will it keep the feel? The factory iPhone coating usually lasts for more than 2 years of moderate 1-3hrs a day use. Or is switching protective glass panels a better idea to prevent fingerprints and keep that factory feel long term?

@@CyberCPU If you have a bit of that of oleophobic treatment left it might be worth a try. A couple of decades ago there was a Poly-Teflon wax for aircraft that was super slippery and held a shine for years, even 200mph bugs hardly stuck to it, and ice had a tendency to not stick to it either. I heard it wad discontinued because of health some heath risk.
I also used to use some anti-ice adhesion liquid that I suspect was silicone. it was pretty effective but had to be re-applied often. I just looked and see there's a new and improved aerospace anti-Ice coatings that might be worth a try.

@@jackoneil3933 My only concern is its effect on the digitizer. I'll have to play around with it and test it out.
I had a tempered glass screen protector that just recently broke so I took it off and I'm benefiting from my phone's original oleophobic coating now. I'll have to wait for it to wear out.

have you seen the 3M Video channel for
'3M Novec Electronic Grade Coatings'? Novev 2202 Electronic Grade Coating appears to be the wipe on verson
I've tried a few tempered glass protectors, that claim to be oleophobic, they don't seem to be any different than the other cheap ones. Premium oleophobic coatings appear to be heat cured and polished, and I doubt that's the case with most or all glass screen protectors. So far I've not seen any that have any sort of anti-reflective coatings either, even the ones that claim to be anti reflective.
I've also noticed that after a week or two most glass screen protectors tend to get a bit of oil incursion around the edges, I'd pay a fair bit for a glass screen protector that has OEM quality anti-reflective and oil properties but I don't know if there is one.
I've got an old Note 3 that's had a high quality plastic film protector installed when new, I still use it every day for a couple of apps, and while the film is pretty scuffed and gouged it still has good anti-reflective, oil resistant, optical and low-friction properties. I've been thinking of trying plastic film protector over a glass protector.
