  • The throat chakra plays an essential role in communication, creativity, and self-expression. When there’s an imbalance in this chakra, you may notice you have a harder time communicating effectively.
Vishuddha chakra bridges the heart and the mind. When this space is clear, the wisdom of both is integrated and profound spiritual truths flow freely.
Vishuddha: Vishuddha, the most common Sanskrit name for the throat chakra, means ‘pure’ or ‘purification.’
Element: The element of nature associated with Vishuddha chakra is Ether. It’s all about space - the essence of emptiness in which our true selves exist.
Physical Body: The throat chakra is situated in the centre of the neck at the height of the thyroid gland which regulates processing of energy in the body through temperature, growth and metabolism. It is also linked to the mouth, jaws, tongue, pharynx, palate, shoulders and neck.
Emotional Body: The throat chakra is related to the expression of yourself through truth, purpose, creativity and individuality. This chakra is connected to the second chakra or sacral chakra, which is another centre of emotions and creativity. The throat chakra’s focus is on expressing ideas clearly, gracefully and honestly, and projecting one’s authentic creativity into the world.
Mental Body: When Vishuddha is in balance you can communicate clearly and ask for what you need, in order to manifest the world in which you wish to live. You know and honour yourself. You can accept things as they are and maintain equilibrium within myself and the world around you.
