What started as a fun idea for me and the guys, turned into a nightmare! I bought an ice cream van with the intention of making cool videos and spreading some happiness, but exactly the same thing as the Hearse last year... Even bought on the same day!!! Things didn't go as planned.
Watch as I share the entire journey - from the excitement of finding the perfect van for conversion to the shocking realization that I got scammed & done for nearly £700.

Ah mate, that's bollocks. As a campervan owner that has needed welding doing for the last 3 MOTs, I feel your pain. Best to write it off and go again. Will get you a beverage at Bloodstock and raise a glass to rusty bastards

The plan was a full camper build series & use it to get to Graspop (Belgium), Pitfest (Holland) and Something in Romania with Ruby...
Unfortunately it barely made it 1/2 mile to the MOT place 😂

Thanks for the insights of buying vehicles, make sure it's road worthy, but it's cheap for a ice cream truck. But you could possibly renovate it to a standstill,bed and breakfast, like 70 a night or something, haha
The mad thing was is that once it was set up, that was almost the plan!!! Our place is too small for guests so we would have used it as a spare bedroom for the guys outside!!! 😂

Dishonesty is a real PITA when buying used cars, maybe next time you could use a checklist or bring someone who really knows what to look for?
Unfortunately it was bought through eBay sight unseen. I was relying on the sellers description to be honest and it just wasn't, (weather he meant to do that or not).
I could have taken it to court, but it would have just dragged out for at least a year. So took the £700

I remember my dad buying a car off a private seller years ago and it had a list of 18 faults wrong, dad took the person legally and won cause essentially it was deadly. Terrible when this happens.

I was actually toying with taking it through Small claims as with the footage and our txts it would have been straightforward. But dragged out for easily over a year and cost a fortune for someone to be given a payment plan of £10 a month. It just wasn't worth it 😔 I actually did feel sorry for him.

Friends from London had an old ambulance and 3 slept in there!
I actually run fleet for an ambulance company for a while and let me tell you straight away, Ambulances are not looked after at all!!! 😂 They are not repaired, not maintained and massively abused by staff! Haha so it's lucky you made it anywhere without needing one!! 😂🤣😂

As a bit of a penny pincher who loves the idea of owning daft shit like this. That was a tough watch. I always have the “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is” mentality. pun wasn’t intended but remembered there was an ice cream in the 90’s called too good to be true 🤦♂️

Billy that sucks, next time bring someone with a bit of mechanical experience to check over the vehicle before you buy, I think the AA offer this service.
A few years ago my Corsa's engine died. I was going to scrap it but scrap merchants were taking the piss offering like £80. But I thought the alloys alone are worth much more than that so looked on eBay to price them and then saw loads of non runner cars being sold.
In the end I flogged the Corsa for £600 cash to a second chance offer, so didn't declare it to eBay and didn't pay any fees. Sorted.
Ahhhh as it was an auction bro I took a big risk in the guy being honest with the description.
Unfortunately even though he wasn't, Any legal case no matter how clean and dry would have dragged out for well over a year taking time and money. And in this guys circumstances he'd probably get a payment plan of £10 a month or some shit...

I was just suggesting checking out car auction places as you can get good bargains there and can look over the vehicles before you bid.
I then linked to an Iveco van. It was only at £60 with 2 days to go. It was a horse transporter where someone's put a kitchen and seating area in one half and the horse compartments are still in the back so you'd have somewhere for Joe and Bartek to sleep 🤣

What I'd do personally is find out if they're a trader or not. That failed mot last year and the mots before it show had loads of welding needed and the brakes were shot last 4 years. If theyre a trader and tried to sell privately you're still covered. You can't list sold as seen if the vehicle is driven. It has to be transported and listed as a non runner, which obviously it's on video it was driven. You can still do small claims if private and detail the things they said were OK but weren't. Another option if he ignored you would be to put it back in his name or don't send off the v5 and go thru a few ulez zones and speed cameras then park at double yellows 😂. Next time you want a project let me know and I'll tell you if it's a money pit or not! And yes, don't pay without inspection first. It's not much for an aa mechanic to inspect the vehicle prior to sale. Just get Ruby to sell some feet pics online for you to recoup some of the lost ££ 😁🦶

If you report then to fleabay they'll get a warning and be compelled to refund further to avoid restrictions. Don't feel sorry at all! If this wasn't filmed you'd have got nothing off them.
