100 percent agree. People seem to have forgotten the massive increase in lifetime donor you get from utilizing BOTH techniques.

I had my first fut in july 2023 so far ive had good results and i may get another one in the next year to thicken some spots up but so far ive been happy with tbe results. Doc said i was a norwood 3 and im happy i did it but i agree everyone seems to be pushing fue like it leaves no scars and i did a years worth of research before my surgery and decided fut was the way to go.

Unfortunately I’ve had 3 FUTs, still don’t look good and strip scar width is wide now. Booked FUE with Pittella in 2025, can’t wait.

No one does FUT because its not as good. Why get a strip scar when you can get just as many grafts via FUE. Look at Zarev

@@jamesmartinez9140 I've had 2 fut and the results were great even with the Zarev and there's only one of him any charges a fortune you get 30% more graftd over a lifetime with starting with strip first and then doing fue important for someone with major hair loss I can go down to a two and you cannot even see the strips scar if done right. Also where the strips car is extracted is where the best hair is for many people the hair above mentioned or below the scar isn't as strong so less density

This is very interesting, I’m 28 and have been considering getting a procedure done. Love this channel. To play devils advocate one thing that comes to mind is that if the “core area” is really the only place you’re gonna be able to keep your hair then it doesn’t really matter whether you get FUT or FUE because you won’t have enough grafts to cover your whole head anyways.

    • @JoeyXB

This is exactly right. Steve and David mention here that if you're above norwood 4 then FUE isnt going to be a good option.. but if youre above norwood 4 and your doing a strip from just that small area, then youre taking around 1500-2500 grafts.. that is not enough to make someone look good. so then you're getting a 2nd or 3rd strip (like i had to do), and then you greatly risk the scar getting wider each time.. youre also extracting a little less each subsequent strip - so by the end of 3 FUTs you have extracted maybe around 5.5k grafts.. you may have a solid hair line, thin midscalp, and still baldish looking crown by that time. meanwhile all the top surgeons in the world are grabbing 6-7k grafts or more in one FUE or a 2 day back-to-back session. The only advantage to an FUT in 2024 is that if you're procedure had a poor result, your donor is still capable of a solid FUE procedure in the future. either way the, the trick should be to not have a HT as your are losing hair. wait, attempt to stabilize with therapies, and after a couple years pass and you can confirm your loss has stabilized, then giga session it - your safe zone is what you have.

great video.I've read that strip surgery is underrated : results are awesome and natural. Also with FUT the hair comes from a much "safer" area .Amazes me how some FUE doctors use "unsafe" hair from the upper back of the head..even with finasteride you can lose those transplanted hairs .Keep the good work

The thing is, everyone is scared that if the transplant fails, and the do,you might need to shave your head and you are left with the scar.

hi David, quick question. i think i had like 4 HT done. 1 FUE and 3 FUT. the FUE i had done pretty much fail but the FUT is successful. i plan to go with my 5th HT but am confuse which method should i go with this time. i have a linear scar from my 4 FUT and i wanted to try FUE since my FUT told me he might be be able to extract enough hair using FUT cause skin at the back of my head is to too tight. the FUE i had done were many many years ago before all the advancement in FUE. so i figure the technology for the FUE might already be improved since i did my first FUE. and i will be able to harvest more hair using FUE than FUT. my surgeon for FUT suggest that to get the amount hair i wanted he may have to cut a 2nd strip from another area at the back which i,m not sure i want that. your advice would be most appreciated.

Honestly, the best thing to do in my opinion would be to have someone like my surgeon, Dr. Dan McGrath, who does both types of surgery very well inspect your hair in person and then decide. I know he is a very ethical surgeon so he will only do what he feels is in your best interest.
