I left Lisboa for Barcelona one year ago, you shot this basically in my old neighborhood (except for the Belem parts), I recognize basically every shot and walked there daily. Lived in one of the side streets where the trams go up. I"ve been watching you for your SF content, this was a nice little surprise. (Barcelona is better, if only just because you can find places with arcade machines)
I believe the first home release of Revenge of Death Adder was the Arcade1up cabinet, which I think was released a few months before the Astro City Mini. I could be wrong, but the sources I found says October 2020 for Arcade1up and December 2020 for Astro City Mini.
I never owned a Game Gear, even back during its popularity. But I remember seeing an advertisement in magazines about this entry. That is all I really knew about the game, plus some reviews. But to see what inspired it, and the kind of gameplay it experimented with is fascinating. From arcade to action RPG. Those were wild times back then.
Hell yeah! Love Game Gear! I have about half the NA library including g2g cable and 20+ 2 player games! I think I will go play Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe after this video.
"Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then the HELL with you!" - Ax Battler, Golden Axe Kart, 1996
This game also reminds me of Exile: Wicked Phenomenon, not only with how it plays, BUT also how the character walks way too close to the edge of the screen, causing him to take massive damage by enemies.
I used to play this game all the time! Ah, memories... By the way, do the dragon enemies, like the one at 12:12 remind anyone else of Dulcy from the SatAM Sonic cartoon?
thats more of a dragonquest clone than zelda aestheticially which is cool because i don't care much for zelda games but i do like the dragon warrior- drageonquest series a ton
Gamegear wasn't segas only handheld. What about the Nomad? Sure it played megadrive carts but it was still a handheld. They stold that idea from the Turbo Express. A handheld that plays the same games the system does. NEC did it first.
I recently have gotten my hands on a emulator capable of playing game gear and scrolling through ROMs I saw this. Figuring why not download it boy did it surprise me. I kinda want to try again but it's overwhelming and just a tad unfair
My first experience with a game gear was on a camping trip, where I learned it was capable of vaporizing the batteries in about half an hour.
I had one in 91 and was way more than just half hour, I mean, I bought the power supply as rercharble batteries were too expensive
Not true, the battery life is about 3-4h+
The travel videos are a nice addition to your content. I love it!
Was looking forward to this one. Will you do beastrider to, to complete the goldenaxe reviews? It has quite an interesting history 🙋🏽♂️
Yup!
*too

now a days I love singing along with Handhelds Around The World theme song
I loved the beat em up golden axe games, but I never tried the zelda 2 clone one yet.
Don’t
It looks fun, but the gameplay is absolutely awful.
The guy in the Game Gear commercial is the same dude that played Earl's brother in "My name is Earl"
Hey THGM. Love that intro.
You can take the educator out of school, but you can never stop the educator from teaching. I learned something new about Europe from this video.
I'd love to see a full Golden Axe Collection on Steam.
Glad you enjoyed your stay here in Portugal! =)
When is Top Hat going to take on Danhausen?
Surprised I didn't spot anyone sporting a Benfica jersey in your shots.
Nobody mentioning the amazing intro? Russel Crowe would be proud!
Well I assume they call him axe battler because he fights against the golden axe?🤷🏻♂️

Why did I always think the main guy was called Tarik? Maybe he was called that in Sonic the Comic.
Another entertaining gaming 🎮 history video 🎥 from everyone's favorite 🔝 🎩 chap.. top 🔝 🎩 gaming 🎮 man ♂️ yeeeeeah!
I love that song, unironically improves on the original. Also I had a game gear and some kid stole it from me RIP sonic spinball.
i think its more like the answer of sega to gargoyles quest , than taking inspiration from zelda 2.
At first glance this looks like a poor man's Golden Axe themed Rastan knockoff. Loved that game in the arcades waaaaaaay back when.
Good job! Looks like fun, if you've got the batteries!
Good to see THGM back in action.

Hey, Top Hat Gaming. For the next Handhelds Around the World video, how about you do a review of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Game Gear?
I consider the game Golden Axe Warrior like if you had a extremely hard setting for the puzzles
So, was that Ethan Suplee in the Game Gear Commercial?
I used to play this game all the time! Ah, memories...
By the way, do the dragon enemies, like the one at 12:12 remind anyone else of Dulcy from the SatAM Sonic cartoon?
Great and rare gamegear game, but a bit short, i beat it when it came out back in his days!
thats more of a dragonquest clone than zelda aestheticially which is cool because i don't care much for zelda games but i do like the dragon warrior- drageonquest series a ton
Wish golden axe got a sequel/remake like streets of rage 4 ❤️
A better Zelda-like game for the GG would be Sylvan Tale, japan only but fan translated since years back.
1:39 Had Me Dying 🤣😂
You decided to take a Game Gear and make it portable instead of relying on the Auxiliary power?
You are both brave and mad. 😁😁
No!!!
This whole time I thought It was the same as the Master system game 😳
Now I have to go play it 👊
wasnt there a jp only golden axe game that was a straight RPG with phantasy star type of fighting?
the adventures of tophat? i played that it was called spike mcfang

Reminds me more of Actraiser
Haha. You’re right about Butch
6:07 I get up at a quarter to 5 huhuhuh
Thank you very much for the review. :^)

Bad bra at 5:12 XD
Top hat being a Pete dunne fan make me like him even more, or is Pete with a hat on top hat gaming man himself?
A fan!? He was one of my rival's! I have a 3-0 win record against him lol.
Reminds me of act raiser
I can understand ripping off the first LoZ. That game was awesome. Zelda II was a bit shit however.
This game could have been but it’s hampered by terrible gameplay choices. I own this pos still.🤦🏻♂️
Haa!
Poor Butch. He deserves better than what he's getting from WWE right now
😄👍
Sega does what Nintendoes.
in portugal huh?
i expect glorious st!ka collabs
Game over yeeaaaahhhh.
Guess the game ???
Love this game
Portugal
Actually this seems to be more of a ripoff of Capcom's Gargoyle's Quest series.
Except that is a Capcom franchise.
@@jacobprayer8656 I stand corrected! XP
Uhhu
Hello Guru larry

Who else got into Bodybuilding as a result of this game art when they were young?
