Assuming you dont do any big road trips in it, this EV version is kind of the perfect G-Wagon. Being so smooth, quiet, effortlessly powerful adds even more luxury to the experience. “Cool” is subjective but this is definitely up there with the coolest IMO.
My morning routine is make coffee and watch TFL. I was lost this morning with no videos at 5 or 6am. Lol thanks for taking time on your vacation to review that awesome vehicle.
@@LafemmebearMusic Regular G wagons don’t depreciate as much, you are right. However, electric vehicles do. It’ll be interesting to see how this vehicle unfolds
the body roll in fast corners is huge. Am waiting for the amg version with the 800 volt architecture battery with thirty percent more range, less weight, faster charging and towing capability. This first version is really just good for trail outings and school runs. Will plummit in resale
Hub motors with a low range? Colour me intrigued. I mean i ain't buying a gwagon, I'm but a mere mortal, but the tech seems promising and could trickle into more affordable vehicles over time. Be very interested to see this on some trails
Promising tech?? Many other EVs have much better battery technology than this. Also, this doesn't even use the latest infotainment software that MB has on other vehicles.
@tarfeef101 No one is arguing anything. You said this has promising tech, and I pointed out things that are behind many others, including within their own brand. Maybe you meant for "the tech" to directly refer to the hub motors perhaps, but it was in a separate paragraph (which usually indicates a new thought) so it wasn't specifically clear.
The G Wagen fuel economy is so abysmal that this is actually an ideal G-Wagen. At this price point it is not the cost of the gas that matters so much but the frequency of having to go to the gas station. I have driven across this country enough over enough years to know that vehicles over a certain price point are almost never seen on long trips. Run to the office or the store etc and you are good.
At least it's nice to see you kase wonder where you been kind of absent in the other videos almost thought you left TFL always like your reviews on the vehicles other projects your very handsome youngman haha😮😊😊
Great video Kase, thanks for getting us some content even though you're on holiday! 😄 The G-wagon is cool, even though I'll never be in the market for one. But that blue accent coloring was a poor choice I think, very Las Vegas, not very classy.
Cold weather, battery degradation, real-world could put the usable range around 150 miles in a few years. That’s a lot of money for an in-town car, that costs more than gas to run. I guess rich people don’t care.
Hi there, thanks for the review ! I would like to know if a tow-hitch is available and what is the towing-weight in the US ? In Europe towing weight is 0 Kg. !!! Would it be possible to mount an electric winch at the front bumper ? Because, when you're stuck with 3100 kgs in deep mud.....you definitly need a strong winch ! And what is the payload in the US ? In Europe, payload is only 400 kgs., because beyond 3500 kg total vehicle weight, you will need a truck-drivers license...... Thanking you beforehand for answers 👍
How come this one looks better than the other one I saw that has that oval strip light this doesn't look the same as that other blue one I saw I don't like that other blue one
Four motors with a low range option. overly complicated and no doubt troublesome in the years to come, but at least it has a low range I guess... It still wont work as well off road as something with proper diff locks.... electronic traction control never does. Should have just put one motor onto the proper G wagon transfer case, and kept the standard / excellent drive line...
It's a damn cool vehicle but can we get an off road EV that doesn't have some kind of gimmick? Aslo I'd be happy with a two motor version that has actual lockers to go along with the low range.
Cool? Yes. Love me a boxy car and I love EVs. But with the range this has I can’t see taking it off road. With how much it costs I can’t see taking it off road. For me it would be cooler if it was engineered to function at it’s best in it’s natural habitat of the city and highway. With that size battery I’d expect you could get more range if it wasn’t designed to be so good off road and then never go off road. But if I really had to I could sacrifice and drive the G wagon with the existing range. Sigh.
RUMOR MILL ALERT: After Honda recently opened its first true production line for Solid State EV Batteries in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan in November 2024 as a demonstration production line, they have decided to open-up a new phase of the Solid State Battery project where it is rumored to be suppling Solid State all-EV and Hybrid EV-battery technology for the new RAM full size and heavy duty trucks and Jeep EV vehicles which are rumored to be coming online as soon as possible once Honda decides when and how much it will be paying to acquire the RAM and Jeep division from Stellantis. This acquisition has been recently well-rumored within Asian financial circles for the last four months and the rumor mill activity is actually becoming more and more frantic and more pronounced with each passing day. Current secretive sources say a late February to Early March announcement MAY be made by Honda as to its intentions with Stellantis. Honda has recently gobbled up Nissan and ALSO looking to get into the very profitable heavy duty and full-size truck and SUV markets beyond the current Honda Ridgeline series of trucks within the North American market. RAM and Jeep would be ideal candidates for acquisition by Honda as Stellantis seems to be retreating back into focusing more on Europe and Asia with their smaller cars, cargo vans and micro-truck lines. The motorcycle division of Honda is ALSO LOOKING to possibly acquire KTM of Austria which is a European builder of high-end off-road electric bikes and EV motorcycles including Enduro, Motocross and Expedition bikes. Honda wants to better compete with Kawasaki and Suzuki in both EV street bikes and off-road bikes, so by acquiring KTM that would give Honda access to advanced EV motorcycle technology! Honda also wants to get into scaling DOWN the acquired KTM EV motorcycle technology into getting Honda-branded EV scooter and EV bicycle systems into North American, Asia and European markets. These new systems will VERY LIKELY be using the new Honda Solid State Battery Technology which offer more durability (i.e. more 0%-empty-to-100%-full recharge cycles aka 25 years battery life!), better EV driving/riding range and more actual cargo carrying capacity as Solid State EV batteries offer higher amperage pulsed power export than Lithium Ion-based or Sodium Ion-based battery technology. That means more torque to carry more cargo faster and longer than ever before! Within the last six weeks, HONDA automotive engineers WERE SEEN by certain secretive sources to enter and stay for long periods of time at the Chrysler World Headquarters and Technology Center (CTC) in Auburn Hills, Michigan which is the place where Stellantis does all its current research and development for its vehicles including RAM and Jeep! These secretive source also stated that these engineers were NOT there for collaborative engineering efforts with Stellantis but rather to evaluate current Stellantis Intellectual Property including specifically the products within the RAM Truck and Jeep SUV lines! When a company does this type of product evaluation, it USUALLY MEANS an acquisition announcement is a mere few weeks to a few months away! V
this car is destined for some rich guys wife to drive to the mall and back. Still cool tho, but an electric G wagon will depreciate like lead sinks in water. Lease mobile 100%
That is one truly inefficient EV. Even in city driving. I can’t believe I’m saying this but the EV version of the Cadillac Escalade might end up being more efficient let alone comfortable than this. Though yes there is still a cool factor in the parking lots.
When are we going to talk about massively inefficient EV vehicles? Sure it’s electric, but if it consumes 10 times electricity to travel the same distance as say an ev Camry, is it actually efficient?
Ugliest SUV on the market. I am not a fan of EV’s so it is a waste of money. EV’s have been proven to pollute more to the environment than ICE vehicles, so just a complete loser.
