    I watched a zillion of these PSA submissions videos and PSA is grading harder than ever. I pretty much guessed the grade on most of these cards.
    My opinion on the way PSA grades now is 2 factors: The decade and whether it’s an iconic card. Since this was an 80’s submission, the best you were going to do for any iconic card was an 8. I have yet to see an 86 Rice PSA 9 in any video I’ve watched. So if the card is in perfect condition, they will give you the 8, any flaw, 6 or 7. They have to control the pop count on these iconic cards or the whole high end market collapses. So if you do a 1970’s submission, expect a 7 for your best cards, and 90’s is where they will start giving out 9’s on iconic cards. Just follow the decade and that number is your ceiling.
    On a positive note, I think any newer PSA slab goes for more as older PSA slabs sell for 15-20% less sometimes on eBay. That’s why your submission has value as I do not buy older PSA slabs anymore.
    I think the market will change once there are more and more cards graded tougher by PSA. I buy 8’s that look like 9’s and 9’s that look like 10’s, so a lower grade has value to collectors like me.

      I have also been watching many of the 1980’s PSA reveals and have found similar results. It does make you wonder if graders are being trained to grade these iconic cards differently. I will be rethinking how I go about submitting cards from this era. Thanks for contributing and sharing your thoughts.

      I honestly have not seen PSA grading tougher personally. My preview grades and grades received have been right on or very close. On my sports cards videos I am right on or within one grade on a very high percentage of my cards. I too watch a lot of videos and I do see a lot of people over grading their cards....at least that is what I think. I wish you the best in your collecting!

    Nice sub! I love the variety you had. I think you got some good grades overall. These damn 80s cards are tougher then a lot of people think when it comes to grading! I was pretty happy with my 80s sub results I guess. I think I got 1 lower than expected if I remember. I actually got a few one grade higher. Keep the videos coming. You gained a new subscriber here!

    Great card choice, all of these cards should be in slabs. 83 montana looked like a gem from here. Great eye appeal on front.

    PSA dinged you hard on the 1984 Payton and the 1986 Topps which PSA always seem to grade tough. I just sent an order of 35 1980's cards, not feeling to good about it !

    I got my Steve Young graded and it came back 6 also. Boo

    • @gameoncards
      @gameoncards  Год назад

      Yeah, my 86’ Young was no GEM by any means and definitely had som centering issues but either I don’t have an good eye for older cards or PSA scrutinizes these type of cards much harsher. I could get a second opinion and crack out to send to another grading company but they are not valuable enough for it to be worth while. Thanks for your comments and supporting this channel. 😊

    It makes no sense that on these older cards at one time they gave tens because tens came through but now all of a suddeN, no tens ever come through of these iconic cards. They couldn’t even give you the ten on the ditka. How could tens of 80s cards just vanish off the face of the planet? You need to write care of: Geoff Wilson on all your packages you send out and in your return addresses. Or Leon hart. That would get you better grades.

      Haha yeah. I am considering all options for my next 80’s sub. Maybe slide some cash in the package next time. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

      It's a racket. My question is, how often do common people pull the super rare cards? How do we know the CEOs are not gifting each other Christmas one-of-ones? It can't possibly be regulated.

    Should have just put what you paid for the cards to make it easier to digest.

    You should really break those cards out and send to sgc! They do better with vintage stuff....without losing the ability to resale it!

    Looks like PSA was tuff on you. They look real closely on the back and front corners on 80’s cards. They hit harder on back corners on older than newer cards. Seems that way anyways

    • @gameoncards
      @gameoncards  Год назад

      Yep, for sure. I will need to consider that anytime I send in 35+ year old cards to PSA 🤔 I am not sure I subscribe to the POP count conspiracies but it seems very difficult to get decent grades for iconic cards. Thanks for contributing your thoughts

    Hope you learn to look at your cards and choice of cards to send in. Even if off centered cards get the grade you want they will sell for much less or not sell at all. Also, even if you gor the grade you wanted, soe would be barely profitable. Anyway, hope you enjoyed grading. Definitely dont do this for profit lol.

  • @chuck-thecornerstorecardco1205

    I’m a little worried now seeing your video, I have a 100 cards 80’s special coming back soon…hoping for the best based on your video…lol

    • @gameoncards
      @gameoncards  Год назад +2

      Haha, I wish you the best on your 80’s sub but from what I have been seeing, most people are getting crushed on this special. Think PSA is putting their new hires on these orders 😁. I also just checked out your channel and can’t wait to dig into your content. I love watching other people’s sub reveals! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 👍🏻

      Thankfully their are several companies that we can grade with and each one has something different to offer. I am seeing larger fluctuations and more inconsistent grades recently than ever. I am trying to be more selective with what I send out for grading and to which company. Thanks for watching.
