Its a gimmick for the show, but honestly you would never guess they were actually in that machine, they could have used green screen and let them pose on a table to get the same effect.

All I can think about is one of the judges saying
"I know you are up in space and it's hard to breath but try not to look blue. Oxygen is important but you gotta make it look like you are oxygenated."
Tyra: "You know one time I had to do a photo shoot up in space. I was purple and blue. I couldn't breath up there. But you know what I pulled through. It was just behind a green screen and I know you really went up to space but it was hard. And I managed not to look blue. "

The fact that they thought it was okay to not edit out the makeup artist telling the girl to suck it in just shows the lack of quality of the show. No one should ever be belittled like that and to put it on tv is just so ridiculous.

Why didn't they book the guy demoing the skydiving tank? He clearly has the skills neccesary for the photoshoot. When agencies look for people to do this stuff, they tend to say like "This job is for people with experience in skydiving".
Because they couldn't yell at him for doing it wrong.

Skydiver here 🙋♀️ the show that the instructor did was very nice. It takes dozens/ even hundreds of hours to get to a level like this where you can fly your body in every position at every wind speed. Since indoor skydiving is a pretty young sport, it has developed a lot over the recent years. What he did was safe for him, because he is trained. A person who has never been in a windtunnel before can barely fly on their belly with assistance. It is safe for the models as long as the instructor is with them, holding on to them 😊 they probably chose those outfits because their skin would be flapping around if they would be half naked. It really doesn’t look good, no matter how skinny someone is.
The poses: at a beginner level you can only fly on your belly. Next step, after a few hours of training the next step would be back flying. For freestyle or dynamic, head up/head down positions you would need a lot more wind speed, which would be dangerous for untrained, unassisted newbies.
People who do it for the first time often have tunnel vision, they can only focus on one thing because this is a sensory overload. When I am training I also have absolutely no perception of what is going on outside the tunnel, I really have to focus. Nice side effect, you absolutely forget how many people are watching you 😄
They should make a spin off where Tyra and Jay have to do all the photoshoots.
And the models are the directors, photographers and judges…*sigh* only in our dreams
I love how he was like her hand looked like a catcher's mitt and its like yeah bc you put her in a catcher's mitt. They're always blaming the models for their mistakes and if one happens to against all odds nail a photo they're like she gets it lmao

Yeah, it's interesting seeing him try to justify himself (I only watched clips from his commentary on ANTM), but he seems as bad as Tyra and other judges.

That's what I thought. If they were going to cut the background anyways have a green background and them laying on the floor or hanging
or a green screen and they just pose on a table lol, but then it wouldnt be a game show i guess
They always find the most inconvenient way to create a photoshoot and then always crop out a majority of the background.
Like when they had the girls pose in a freezing cold room with ice sculptures and then edited out a majority of the background...lol

ANTM trolled their models so hard. If they had a challenge underwater, they'd be like, "We need you to look dry. You're not giving us dry. You're letting the water overtake the picture."

Its episodes like this why modelling agencies don't hire ANTM alums. They are just treated as reality tv stars and not as professional models
My theory is that Tyra (or whoever) spent so much money on the concepts for these shoots and the crazy locations, that she had pennies left for the actual photographers + post-photo production. That's why we see so many incredible photo shoots and crappy photos.
And it is hard for them to hear instructions with the giant fans and strong winds.
I've done this before, the instructor with you in the wind tunnel does not even speak instructions to you, they literally have hand signals that they have to give to you to communicate what they want you to do, it is that loud. There is no way that they would hear anyone from the other side of the tunnel.
The final result looks like a meme...made by a 12 year old.
The concept confuses me so much. How can you advertise a foundation when your required uniform covers most of your face?

I feel like this photoshoot could have been easily replicated with wires and a harness... But that isn't extreme enough for Tyra.

I did the indoor skydiving once and it's so fun but just the smallest movement will change your direction and move you around. I want to know if the girls got the same rundown of how to move inside the tunnel.
Yes, they do talk about it in the episode. That is why it was brought up at panel that Carrie-Dee was out of control in her shoot, because she didn’t listen to the instructions.

I’ve done this before actually. It’s extremely difficult to stay balanced. When I did it I was told by hand signals from the guy helping to like straighten my legs. There’s one position, at least I, was told to stay. I was told to basically kind of stay like a starfish. I cannot imagine trying to pose whilst in there. It’s literally such a stressful environment. (Also the goggles are so important your face literally flaps so much) so yeah, I think it would be a fun idea but like, they should’ve had them go in once or twice to practice and feel out the environment before posing.

I've been indoor skydiving several times. It isn't dangerous as long as they have an instructor there, but you have to maintain safe positioning while in the tunnel. So, it's kind of stupid to ask them to pose while doing it.
Okay, but my favorite moment was Melrose trying to “box gracefully” and I’m saddened it’s missing.

How do you fall on the floor if you're literally floating in the air? Honestly Curious here
My dad got a gift card to try that and he really liked it but he said it was kinda difficult to be stable etc. And imo it looked cool😂
@@areswalker5647 I know I'm not the person you asked but I coud probably answer your question. You only float with enough surface area. Think about a falling leaf vs a falling ball: the leaf glides down while the ball drops like a rock. If you don't make your body as sprawled out and flat as possible you wouldn't catch the air from the fan and you would fall, so body position would be very important.

Btw I'm a graphic designer and videographer too, and yeah, the laziness of ANTM photo editing is pretty much unparalleled. The greenest intern I've ever worked with could lap that. Hilarious that they couldn't even be bothered to shop the foundation to the right color...it's not even phoned in, it's like, text messaged in with abbreviations

So I grew up with my parents skydiving. This is a wind tunnel - I've never heard them called "skydiving tanks" before. This is an older style wind tunnel, which literally has giant fan below, and they're actually incredibly difficult to balance in, because the airflow is strongest (and most stable) right in the centre, and not as strong at the edges. So if you get too close to the outside of the fan, you lose lift and fall pretty quickly. Modern windtunnels have basically a giant vacuum at the top of the windtunnel, which allows for a more even airflow. Last note is that few skydivers actually use these to practice in, as the experience is definitely different to skydiving (and they're generally more expensive than a plane ticket for a regular).
If they had wanted amazing photos, they probably should have had the girls practicing for a week or two before actually attempting to do a photoshoot so they understood how they could move their bodies. Every movement you make affects how you're "floating". If you move one hand back and the other forward, you spin. drop your feet too far, and you begin to "track", or move forward. These poor girls had no idea how to keep themselves stable, let alone strike poses.

I did the skydive thing before, my company booked this for us a few years ago.
We went into the thing for 1 minute twice after having a lesson about this for about half an hour.
It is so hard to learn how your body and its movements affect you flying around in that thing.
My muscles hurt like hell the next day and as I said I was in there for 2 minutes 😄
So honestly - these girls did so good.
Edit: let me give you an example
If you bend your back you are going down, if you are very flat you are going upwards, if you turn your hands slightly and only a liiiiitle bit to the left, you instantly start to turn right in a circle movement. And it's super hard to go back from there. I can't even explain how hard that is (mostly because English isn't my first language 😅)

I guess you would have to try to really understand, but at the same time its not that much fun until you are better at it and can really do some things in there.

@@yrozord haha the good thing is that you wouldn't be allowed to do it by yourself if you have never done it before so there would definitely be someone in there with you making sure you're okay. He would hold you the whole time. But still I get your fear 😅
Been waiting for this one! All time, legendarily terrible photoshoot. Absolutely set the bar for not giving the models a single reasonable chance at getting a decent shot. They should've apologized to each of the girls, and eliminated none.

Why not just lift them with a harness? Sure it'd be easier to photoshop that out than the instructor. It's probably safer and cheaper as well.
Also, astrophysically, it doesn't make sense to portray them experiencing G-force, since in space they'd appear weightless and just float around (as if being harnessed).
Jessica should try re-creating some of these ANTM photoshoots in her style
I know this isn't the best thing for a photoshoot but considering all the survivor tasks they went through this seems like a fun and nice moment. And I think they meant mermaid when they said siren.
Sirens are mythological creatures that are akin to mermaids. They are often depicted as half beautiful woman and half fish. The thing that separates them from an ordinary mermaid is their singing. They have a haunting and captivating song that lures sailors to their doom- sometimes by the sailor looking too closely to the water and being pulled under, or the sailors would hear the song of the sirens and steer their vessel to where the sirens were. This would result in the ship crashing on the rocks and sinking, causing all the sailors to drown.
@@crazysingergirl5777 from what I remember, sirens are also known for not being as pretty in face and body as mermaids (or even at all). Which is why they used their voice to hypnotise the sailors.

When I was fifteen, I actually did skydiving training as part of my twin sister's Make a Wish trip (she's been in remission now for seven years) and it was so difficult. You literally just get thrown around until you figure out exactly how to spread your body.

I tested positive for covid and I’ve been binge watching these. Can you please keep doing more? they’re keeping me entertained 😂
Despite of how it looks, this is actually safe. The instructors always talk to their clients beforehand and they have certain set signs for specific movemens. There are also people monitoring the fan, so if anything is fishy to them, they will reduce the wind speed. My friend does this as a hobby and looooves it. It just needs a lot of muscle work and focus
After all of that hard work in the skydiving chamber, they could have just put them on a wire with fans and gotten better pictures.

I went indoor skydiving for a friend’s birthday and they gave us a short video/lesson about what to do and told us pretty much to just lay there and the instructor did all the work. While the “skydiving” part is quite safe as long as they were informed on what not to do, you’re not really supposed to move around too much

I've done indoor skydiving, and it is difficult to control your body and look graceful- especially if it's your first time. Actually, the instructor you're with tells you to get into a certain position (hands a certain way, legs a certain way). Your nose will run a LOT after you do it the first time and my hair was a hot mess because it kept being blown through the holes in the helmet. lol. My daughter did it and they offered her the chance to go higher. It was pretty cool. My sons also did it and loved it.
One of my favorite shoot was in Cycle 10, which is called fuerza bruta. Hope you react on that

I actually LOVED the concept, a rarity LOL. I agree they should have had a less stronger fan or maybe stimulate this in a harness.
And no Jessica I work in a hospital and we don't look like that LOL
