    Totally agree. Wife and I would have never bought Broncos without the manual. Way more forgiving manual than on the last mustang I bought. Totally makes the Bronco a blast to drive. Drove the 6 cyl. It had nice torque, but there is just something about controlling when the shift changes occur.

    I’ve got the ‘23 badlands manual Lux package and I love the Tech. 360 cam is very handy on a daily basis, parking lot squeezes especially. Also the non Sasquatch Badlands comes stock with genuine 33”tall tires and the Sasquatch 35” only actually measure up to 34”. Making the expensive upgrade even less meaningful. Which trims come with smart door handles, very useful being able to lock or unlock your doors without having to get your keys out.

    Manual trans and I tow 3k lbs often is the reason I bought the bronco. I'd never buy a jeep and the new tacoma seems to have some issues. They probably need a few years to work out the weak points. The bronco is way cooler than the tacoma too.

    I would have ordered in 2023 a manual a year ago. I had to wait till now (spring order bank no manual has me scared). Went with a loaded badlands 2-door. Too bad the colors didn’t get more exciting.
    Like you I’m shocked and impressed that they brought the manual back.
    Wish high/lux brought the fully digital dash down from the Raptor. Can’t risk possible no manual to wait for 2025 though.

    I soooo agree with you! Manual Transmission is the only real driving experience, while automatic is the most boring thing in the world and only useful in some situations. I am so upset one cannot find more vehicles with manual transmission around, as the options are simply going away. If you ask me, all SUVs and pick up trucks in the market (luxury or not) should come standard, with an option for automatic transmission...

  • @kandifabri7611

    ... I called Ford and spoke to someone in depth about the rear locking differential - I was told the rear locking differential comes automatically with the manual - it's not an option for the automatic. They said the website is misleading but she assured me that manual transmission gets the rear locking differential. So... we'll see! My 2024 has an estimated build start of 1/22/24!

    I agree. I probably would have bought a Jeep instead of my 2022 black diamond because of the manual transmission even though I'm a Ford guy. I'm on the fence of trading it in for a badlands non sasquatch, but I'm not if it's worth it or not.

  • @Syringe666

    My experience with my Dad's Wildtrak Sasquatch package makes me echo your sentiment about the package in general. You sacrifice quite a bit for that on-road - hwy mileage, tire noise, muted passing power and acceleration, rock chips, etc. Off-road, though, it's great - even on gravel roads, it's very good. But, you can make similar changes to your Bronco for cheaper in time if you wish, and it isn't like you're starting from a bad/compromised place with 33" tires, etc.
    I was going to order in '23 - but no manual stopped me, and in fact just ordered a 2 dr Badlands with the 2.3L/7 MT. Seemed the best value to me, which you graphically showed. That it gets the modular bumpers and the Hoss steering rack from the Wildtrak is great for 2024. It is plenty of cash-o, true. But, I cannot wait for it. Thanks for the video - and I enjoy your posts on Bronco 6G as well.

    Great video man! I’m considering a Bronco. Like you I wouldn’t even bother if there was no manual transmission. I want the 2 door but also thinking about the 4 door. Things are getting super pricey for a rig to beat around in the woods! If Ford n Jeep aren’t careful they’re gonna force Toyota back into the ring and if they offer up a short wheelbase with manual transmission……game over in my opinion!

    THANK YOU for all the amazing content!!! I was planning on ordering the Big Bend Sasquatch but after watching this, I think I'm leaning towards the Badlands. On the configuration tool, if I add the Sasquatch to Big Bend, it ends up being more expensive than the Badlands. And a wheel/tire swap won't cost me an arm and a leg to upgrade.

    So glad I got mine already. That said I am jealous of the reinforced steering rack coming to badlands. Not sure my sasquatch package was worth it for $4k, definitely not at 6k. Get a badlands, get the tiny puck lift needed for 35's which is quite affordable. Then watch performance comparisons between wide and skinny tires - weirdly, the "pizza cutters" wind up with bigger contact patch. So don't replace your wheels with wider ones, just get slightly taller tires when the originals wear out.

    My choice was a Wildtrack. I wanted a manual but everything else I wanted on it meant no manual unless I went with a Badlands. My wife wanted leather and I didn’t want an all black interior. Otherwise a Badlands without Sas would have been the ticket. I also was ordering in 20 so the price was astronomically less.

    I didn't know that they made a stick. I have the outer banks with the 2.3. But I did the 10th speed transmission. That combination should last till the end of time. However, if I knew they had a true manual rather than the push button like I have. I would have gotten the true manual. Then again, I commute in mine in california traffic so i'm happy with what I have. This is good information i'm thinking of building out another one strictly for 4 wheeling

    Do these small displacement V6 engines have enough grunt to move these big trucks with 35/37” tires?

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  Год назад +4

      Yup! Largely thanks to the transmission/axle gearing and the turbos.
      If these had 3.53 axle ratios with naturally aspirated engines and 4/5-speed transmissions like the vehicles of old, it would be REALLY rough to turn those larger 35"/37" tires with displacement this small. But we got 4.70 axle ratios and 7-speed transmissions with turbos.
      Worthwhile to note the 5.8L V8 Broncos from the mid-1990s had 205 HP / 325 lb-ft. This 2.3L EcoBoost today has 300 HP / 325 lb-ft. Pretty impressive what you can get out of a 4 cylinder engine these days.

    • @RagnarKon
      @RagnarKon  Год назад

      Before I got my transmission replaced, I would constantly miss 2nd gear and somehow end up in 4th when downshifting. Never had an issue with 1st though.
      But I will say 1st/2nd gear feels a bit strange until the transmission warms up. I almost want to say it’s got a “crunchy” or “stiff” feeling to it. But the MT-82 in the Mustang had a similar feeling and there’s enough of them out on the road today that I’m not too concerned about it.

      Up until 2024 order banks opened, you haven't been able to place a new manual transmission order since 2022.
      Ford completely stopped accepting orders for the Base trim, Everglades trim, cloth seats, a wheel upgrade for the Badlands trim, and the manual transmission during the 2023 model year. Only existing 2022 carry-over orders were accepted. Ford claimed it was all temporary, but obviously there was a worry that those options would be discontinued completely come 2024 model year.
      Turns out all of those options were indeed discontinued _except_ for the Everglades trim, and thankfully... the manual transmission.

      Doubtful.
      It's going to ultimately depend on manual transmission sales. As or right now, only 10-15% of people buy manual, so there is very little incentive for Ford to put in the work to add the manual to the 2.7L engine.
      The only reason why we got the 2.3L with the manual is because Ford already did the engineering work with the 2.3L on the Mustang, Ranger, etc.
