At my parish I see people venerate St. Martin's hand, followed by the Gospel in the other hand (followed by the relic below). I don't always kiss all three, sometimes one. Sometimes two. Sometimes all three.
Thanks for this video. If the the gospel book is present in the icon I usually venerate that, but usually I also venerate the blessing hand. May God continue to bless you and grant you many years
Hey bro, glad you are doing better. Thanks for this video. Cleared up some things I’ve been wondering about lately. God bless His holy orthodox church, even us rascals. ☦️
Thank you so much for this! I know this is basic catechist stuff, but I've only been a catechumen since February and have been at my church for a full year now...and still have a zillion questions on basic things that I feel too stupid to ask about. p.s. my godmother told me that kissing the shoulder is also acceptable.
I have also observed a costume of kissing the hem of the garment on full figures or the hem of the veil (for the Theotokos). Also I have seen people kiss the hem of a scarf/veil if there is one placed around the icon. Both after the example of St. Veronica, the woman who had an issue of blood.
I am so happy i found your channel!! We're an orthodox family, ACROD, and i learn so much from you. I look forward to many more lessons from you. May God grant you many years! ☦️☦️☦️
If you would, I would really appreciate it if you would do a video like this on confession. I still have no idea what to expect. I’m talking about sacramental confession, but I haven’t even done life confession either so bonus points if you wanna mention that. I do not come from a historical Christian background so this is all very new to me still
We didn’t really learn proper icon veneration in my catechism. So I didn’t know a lot of this. It might just be an Arab thing I’ve picked up at my parish but sometimes I just do the metanias and place my forehead on the hands depicted in the icon when I go into the church. I see a lot of people do that. I especially do it when I arrive 10min late to Liturgy and see that the icon of Christ in the narthex is already covered in lipstick and chapstick. The icons in the iconostasis I usually see venerated by people kissing their fingers and then touching the hands or feet in the icon
I have zero idea of any of this stuff so these videos are great you have helped me alot brother so don't second guess you are great bro! Good off the smokes. When I stopped if I had a nic fit I would look at my watch and tell myself if I still feel like this in 15 minutes then I can have a smoke, go back about your business and every time I forgot I even wanted one by the 15 minutes. I actually have a question, I have the HTM prayer book and have been using it reading the entire morning prayers each morning ( some days I have to leave early for work and have no time so ill listen to a youtube video of them being read) and in the evening I read the small compline? I don't really understand what time things are to be read or if im supposed to read matins or vespers at night instead? I have never attended any church beyond a few catholic masses for funerals and weddings and plan to eventually goto my nearby GOAA church eventually although I have never really connected in churches but I do respect tradition. Basically using the HTM prayer book what time of prayer rule as simple basic as I can use? I am also sober now 6 months so I am trying to keep things basic simple as possible. Thanks brother and check out Reverend Bizarre if you like Cathedral!
Thank you for the Anthologion video i took the plunge and spent the 107 for the traditional english version thats on its way in September fingers crossed it'll be a sheepskin one if they meet their goal! So thank ye! Thankest thou? I givest thanks to thee!
LOL congrats on quitting smoking. It occurs to me it's Deaconess does the bowing when she venerates. I'm not there yet, and i don't know why. I mean i have answers, but there not necessarily true. Anyway, thank you!
How about an icon where only the face is depicted, but no hands or feet? i.e. The Icon Not Made By Hands? Obviously we cannot kiss the face, but then we cannot kiss the outer borders either.
Dearly beloved. Pray for me a sinful catachumen, and for my hindu wife. Thank you for this wonderful instruction to me. I come to ask, how is it that we may properly venerate the Icon of Christ “Made-Without-Hands,” since it is only the Lord’s face depicted?

Right on! Morning prayer when you wake up, and compline after dinner is a simple way to go about it.
God bless you, brother! Thank you for the video!
Thanks so much!

If the cloth is depicted, we kiss that. If not, then the hanging hair.
and don't go to church with loads of lipstick on
Thanks For This Very Practical Video And Please Do More Like These. AXIOS ☦️ 🕊 🕯 🙏 📿☦️⛪️‼️

Kiss the "cloth" portion of the icon.
