Instead you end up getting way too much analysis on the opening theory and then they typically don't cover as many variations out of theory which is where the bulk of the analysis should be imo.

I have never played a game of chess. I find it intimidating and consider myself... incapable of thinking so strategically to play it. But I've spend the entire week watching and listening to Gotham's recaps, explanations, intros to chess, etc. And I still can't figure out if they are just calming background noise or if I'm inspired to try playing, especially in the moments I can follow the moves. Either way, thanks for finally making chess so approachable for me.

The score 3 for win and 1 for draw should be the norm. Football uses the score because "draw" is so common in the sport. It is even more common in chess.

Absolutely amazed by the first game. It is very rare that GMs get a chance to play a game with a piece up. Whenever I am a piece up, it takes me 50 moves of trading to get to a winning position. When GMs are a piece up, it takes them NO effort and 10 moves to mate the opponent. It's a fascinating thing.

Other than Gotham, I can’t think of any content that has leveled me up more, or more quickly than hearing them break down games in this format live. This is the future of chess!

It's exactly why other sports moved away from the kind of scoring that chess uses. It is better for the spectators.
