    Such a legend, such a genius. And so few people know about him. Not least in his home country the USA. That said some of the greats from Elvis to Tina Turner, Clapton to Knopfler respected and recorded his songs. Wish I'd seen him live. Wonderful.

    This wonderful concert by the masterful TJW was uploaded the day after he passed.
    We should all take a moment to reflect upon & appreciate & give thanks to a great musician.What a legend.Thanks for the upload from Oslo. RIP Tony Joe White.

    Man you can really feel that 4/4 war dance Link Wray in Tony's playing...I think his mom was Cherokee..you can smell the coals when he plays.

      Your right about the Cherokee, according to what he told, his mom was 1/2 Cherokee, made Tony 1/4 Cherokee and we’re proud of it.

      Au début des années 90, j'avais un pote qui allait à Oostende en Belgique pour se payer des filles. Nous étions cinéphiles et le jour où il a trouvé un film intitulé Oostende, il l'a loué et nous l'avons regardé. J'ai très aimé la bande-son, elle était d'un inconnu pour moi nommé Tony Joe White. Quelque années plus tard, je suis allé à Pau (j'habitais Dunkerque) pour une entretien d'embauche, dans un magasin de disque là je retrouve le cd de la bande son du film Oostende. Je l'achète. J'adore. Depuis j'ai un dizaine d'albums de Tony.

      Pour ma part je l'ai découvert lors d'une apparition qu'il fait sur un show des Carpenters à la BBC en 1974 (visible sur RUclips), quel talent et quel charisme... Le summum de la coolitude. J'aurais tant aimé le voir en concert.

    Special musician. Much prefer his original version of Steamy Windows. Also liked Tina Turners version. I saw TJW in perth in a small venue. It was Special.

    I loved Clarence Carter's version of Willie and Laura May Jones years ago - never knew until I got into Tony Joe that HE wrote it. He has a way with words and music. I dig TJW!!!
