    Part 2 : the real way to change the tires ! • The right way to chang...
    The tiller works great, but is too big for my 900 sq ft garden. The tiller is best used on the ground, not raised beds.

    The start procedure is to put the throttle at the halfway point...not on full speed for start with the choke or otherwise. Read the instructions!

      Thanks Frank.
      Cold Starts:
      1. Turn ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
      2. Move choke lever to CHOKE position.
      3. Move throttle lever to half way between SLOW and FAST.
      4. Pull starting rope out slowly one time and allow to return
      normally.
      5. Pull starting rope out rapidly, and allow rope to return
      normally. Repeat until engine starts.
      6. When engine starts, gradually move choke lever to RUN
      position and move throttle lever to FAST position for
      tilling.
      Restarting a Warm Engine:
      Restarting an engine that is already warm from previous running does not normally require use of the choke.
      1. Move throttle lever to half way between SLOW and FAST.
      2. Pull starting rope out rapidly, and allow rope to return
      normally. Repeat until engine starts.
      3. Adjust throttle speed to FAST position for tilling.

    Why in the world would someone use a big tiller like this in a raised garden bed!?!?

    • @DrBDIY

      It was an eval tiller. It is big, more than I need.

    You would have been better off just buy a $80 plug in electric one for those beds

      The tiller was a promotional item. Yes, a bit large for these beds for sure.

    Can it go forward or backwards without blades turning? Looking to get!

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Год назад

      When the handles are pressed for forward or reverse, the tines move. When you don't press either and the wheels are not engaged, you can move the unit (even when not powered) forward or backwards as you are providing the force for work. There is no way for the wheels to be engaged and the tines not spinning forward or reverse when moving. Big kahuna tiller. More than enough for my raised bed garden.

      Yes, I found that it is too large for my raised bed garden. I have a friend that uses it just fine. But making turns, getting up the hill, a bit cumbersome.

    They are junk. Reverse tines fight against the wheels and you have to manhandle it. And it leaves a 4” ridge between the times so you have to go back over it. Waste of money.

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  2 года назад

      I found the tiller a bit large for my garden beds. However, there was no space between the tines. I must ask, do you have the tines on facing the wrong direction?

    • @ghostriderwashere
      @ghostriderwashere 2 года назад

      @@DrBDIY no. The times can’t be any longer in the middle or it would hit the shaft housing that turns the tines. Just a bad design. If you are in fairly dry dirt it’s a beast. It will eat down 10-12 inches with ease. What I have figured out is it doesn’t have enough weight on the tires to self propell very well through certain dirt types. If you hole the handle with one hand and put your hand on top of gas tank and give it a little down pressure it does well. I’m gonna manufacture a bracket to add some weight to the front end so it propels itself more efficiently. I have the rubber tire version. They may have made the steel tires on same model to add more weight for traction.

      @@ghostriderwashere If you’re planting big gardens counter rotating tillers are the only way to go to get your soil depth. If your just cultivating forward rotating is the only way to go. If your trying to plow deep with a forward rotating tiller, especially in any rock it will work your butt off!!

      @@thechestnutking736 I tilled about a half acre and it did work my ass off, but one thing I can say ( it did its job ) for some reason, my off-on wire broke at the ground side easy repair I'm happy with the product if you want more you should buy a tractor.

    • @thechestnutking736
      @thechestnutking736 Год назад

      @@blackbiker1961 Yeah I’ve got a tractor also. I’m able to plant wide because I have plenty of ground so I’ll use my cultivators on my tractor until everything I’ve planted gets to big to cultivate with my tractor and the only bad thing About planting wide is it takes a few extra trips with the smaller tillers to get everything. I thought about making a homemade cultivator to pull behind my lawnmower that would fit In between my rows about 4’ wide.
