  • In this video I talk about the difference between front and rear tine tillers. I also tell you some of the features tillers have and what you want to consider when buying one. And I give some practical advice on spending your hard earned money from lessons I learned the hard way.

I should do a video because my husband and I have differences of opinion. Years ago we had acreage and I bought a BCS rear tine and loved it. Then we didn’t use it after a few moves and now back to a place with acreage. My husband is tall and he hated it because he couldn’t turn it or basically thought it was a PITA. If you have a small area don’t get one as you do need room to turn them reverse or not. For me I loved it as it doesn’t overwork all parts of your body when breaking new ground. Ugh! That front tine is a BEAR!

Biggest problem I can see with a front tine tiler without a reverse is getting out of roots can be a problem! Rear tine tillers just back out if you catch a tree root

Thanks for this. Very good. I subscribed. I bought a front-tine Champion tiller which I am struggling to like. And I’ll find ways to like it. But I should have bought a rear tine.

Long story short if you are a big man with big muscles that want to continuous workout by yourself a front tine tiller I'm not a big guy I have both tennis elbow and golfers elbow from front tine tillers spend the extra money get yourself a rear tine front time are only good in sandy soils
