For defenders it should be… *clears throat* “If you’re a defender, DEFEND YOUR END!!!!”
Brand it, he’ll take it.
Rolls off the tongue
or "If you're a defender. DO YOUR JOB!!!"
I was thinking If you're a defender watch your stick
My first thought was if you’re a defender, do your f’ing job. I like yours more
How about, “If you are a defender, DEFEND YOUR NET!”
you're always allowed to lift an opposing players' stick the way Gallagher did. He absolutely should not have been given a penalty.
Meanwhile, given Yammamoto was interfering with play, technically he should count as on the ice. So it should've been a too many men penalty against the Oilers.
Huge dang it for the refs who've botched it yet again
The refs got the call on Gallagher technically right. Messing with an opposing player or their equipment while the opposing player in on their bench is a misconduct penalty. What they arguably missed is that it is also a penalty for a player on the bench to interfere with the play on the ice. Technically the refs were both right and wrong for not calling a penalty on the Edmonton player too. Their stick is on the ice and it shouldn't be but at the same time the stick isn't technically in the play.
The really smart thing for Gallagher to have done is to skate over the stick and "trip" because of it. The stick, without a doubt, would have been interfering with play on the ice by tripping him and a penalty should have been called on Edmonton.
Refs don't call penalties when sports betting bookies have outcomes they need to go a certain way.
The only way it's too many men is it has to interact with the players body or puck. So the gallagher thing is just Edmonton cat fishing the rule book for a penalty. It's a bad loophole but it exists
@@munaclassic4020 Too many men isn't the only penalty that could be at play against the Edmonton player here. There are multiple instances of players on the bench interfering with play to go by. Matthew Tkachuk got an interference penalty for brilliantly keeping the puck from clearing the glass. Cal Clutterbuck took an unsportsmanlike penalty for squirting water on an opposing player as they went past the bench. Sid Crosby got called for interference for holding the stick of TJ Oshie.
The point is that too many men is likely not the penalty in question here.
@@rainsilent ok thanks for helping me grow my knowledge
Ovechkin wasnt hooking, that was a special stick operation
ba dum tss
Underrated comment.
facts
The internet has been won for today. Everyone else can stop trying.
Ahh, very clever lol
My only regret is we're going to have to wait a week to see Steve's reaction to Ned's own-goal and resultant Goalie-How-Hat-Trick. An own-goal, a secondary assist, and a goalie fight.
"Goalie-How-Hat-Trick"
Lol
Arizonia getting two 8+ goal games in a week is a dang-it itself.
I don't blame him not covering it in dang-its. It's gotta be real triggering with a 9-2 score and blown 4 goal lead and all...
you have a funny way of spelling Hat Pick
@@buzztheblocker89 hahahaha
least my team scored 5 lul
@@spacedoutchimp4454 Ottawa > Toronto, confirmed.
10:30- Oilers player needed to have a penalty and play next shift without stick for this.😂
Should have been a bench penalty. If it's interference and he's on the bench... that's another way of saying too many men, right? Should have been 4v4 (2 for too many men, and 2 for unsportsmanlike conduct), not a power play for Oilers.
Team Zebra really screwed the pooch there.
All Gallagher had to do was skate into the stick... and that would be tripping/hooking/high-sticking, right?
@@aralornwolf3140 Montreal was on the power play when it happened, so realistically it should have resulted in a short 4-on-3 for Montreal, followed by a 4-on-4.
Does Steve have something against Barkov? At least second time he's called Ekblad Floridas captain.
To be fair Florida was hard to pay attention to before a few years back
@@IHateMyAccountName But Sasha has been their captain since 18-19.
Yeah.. I don't know why he thinks that.. he definitely knows who barkov is though lol
How could anyone have anything against Barkov?
C'mon even Barkov thought Ekblad was their teams captain
On that Gallagher penalty, at the very least there should have been an offsetting bench minor to the Oilers (or just the Oilers penalty)
Wow Brandon Gallagher should have had a power play that stick was in play it was on the ice they should have been called for too many Men.
Like I said before it's starting to look like WWF/WWE you can almost tell who,s gonna win by watching the ref's
Really thought I’d see Dallas missing the empty net approximately 100 times that one game 😅
Might be cuz they did finally hit it. As a Stars fan though it surely felt like a dang-it at the time. Or just tuesday...we suck at ENG hockey.
@@Zharghar08 Yeah maybe, but I think the fact that they almost let the Wild tie the game really qualifies it as a dang it 😅 I’m a Stars fan too, I might’ve yelled at the TV 😬
That wasn't Kucherov's fault. That was Hedman's fault for making a very bad pass.
RIGHT?!?! I could not believe both Steve and the announcer said nothing about it... it was not blowing a tire, it was a very forward pass he had no chance of getting. Only blew the tire attempting to get to the puck.
Surprised the Sharks getting destroyed 8-0 by the Preds isn’t in here, that game as a whole for the Sharks is a dang-it
Ekblad actually scored a goal for his own team, so counting his two own goals, is that a dang it hat trick??
When the Bolts 3 goals in 32 seconds wasn’t on hat-picks, I thought surely it would show up here. Very sad not to see it at all this week.
especially the Perry goal, that was a dang it for the turn over that led to it
The bolts score a lot super fast is just normal at this point
The Ducks too many men on ice no call OT winner???? How do you forget that?
I mean, when the Avs played the Preds, the Avs got called for too many men in overtime when there were three men on the ice. How do you even cal that?!?!?!?
I get literal belly laughs every week from this show. Thanks.
“Use your brain conduct” I can’t get enough
I completely agree with Gallagher there. That’s BS.
That should almost be too many men on the ice honestly.
He could have just skated into it and gotten an interference call, but...
You can tell just by his reaction that Ristolainen didn’t mean to do it
You can read Skinner's lips...he's saying "he's a goaltender! he should tend the goal!!"
I love it that someone is finally calling out the refs. Need to add a segment of dang-its for the refs.
Somehow the Avalanche blowing a 3-0 lead and losing 5-3 is not a Dang-it this week
If it were the other way around (NJ blowing a 3 goal lead) it for sure would have been on here
Blowing a three goal lead isn't that big a deal. The Leafs do it almost every game 😁

Consider who edits these videos
@@nicksojka7457 Yes I know Producer Drew is an Avs fan.
The Boeser pass was to the wrong team. but it was a pretty nice pass
The hilarious thing to me is that that is where the passers in the accuracy competition pass from, and Matthews was standing where the shooters stand. I am not sure it wasn't just instinct at some level lol
Honestly, Boeser should still have gotten an assist for that. It was a pretty good setup pass.
Doesn't the "A" stand for "alternate captain," not "assistant?"
Yes, technically it stands for alternate or alternative captain, but it is not wrong to call them assistant captains
Steve and Drew - THANK YOU for another quality video. You guys always brighten my day, even if that day is all sunshine and smiles.
I think the kuch one was actually hedman. That was such a trash pass.
If you're a defender, defend your tender?
"IF YOU'RE A DEFENDER, DEFEND YOUR TENDER!" Yeah, it has a good ring to it!
I play goalie in NHL ‘22, that part was my favorite. Totally looked like he was stuck in an animation lol
Koskinen has this strange obsession with leaving the goal and letting the opponent score.
if I'm remembering the rules from my refereeing seminar correctly the stick hanging over the boards should be a bench minor for too many men on the ice as players on the bench are not allowed to affect play in any way shape and form and that this play is supposed to be viewed as if gallagher for no reason was swinging his stick on the ice and a player from the bench impacted Gallagher just swinging his stick around, which affected play which is a penalty.
Amazing. A weeks worth of dang-its is like one game for the Leafs. lol 😂
Absolutely loving the dang-its on the refs. There needs to be a serious overhaul on reffing in this league, without a doubt. These are clear cut unforgivable missed calls for someone who’s JOB this is.
I know hockey is a fast-paced game but I’ve been watching the NHL for a while, and the reffing has just become atrocious in the latest seasons.
It's been made clear from Tim Peel that some refs let their emotions dictate how they officiate. It's unacceptable. They should be impartial and a lot of them let one action make them decide to screw over a team or player.
I saw the Matt Murray blunder live and yelled out THAT'S A DANG-IT
The league needs to just have the officials call everything, by the book, and make teams adjust to the rules, not have the officials adjust to the teams.
Great video...Thanks...love that saying Tend The Goal !...seems crazy for them with all that gear on to go skating around...maybe a chain would help keep them home
edmonton wins in OT, note: OT points count for less in the NHL and shootout points even less in a tiebreak scenario.
no sir, they made sure OT points are worth nothing, too.
@@chad_bThe fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
The greater number of games won, excluding games won in Overtime or by Shootout (i.e., "Regulation Wins"). This figure is reflected in the RW column.
The greater number of games won, excluding games won by Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column.
The greater number of games won by the Club in any manner (i.e, "Total Wins"). This figure is reflected in the W column.
Was the no-call on Ovie/Hyman the refs making up for Backstrom’s 1,000 point getting called back after the Caps scored 14 seconds after an offside call was missed. I know Steve thinks there should be an offside review time limit (as in, if an offside play lasts more than X, it shouldn’t be reviewable).
Or they missed the slash that sent Anthony Mantha's stick flying.
As a Wings fan, I'm honestly surprised there are no Red Wing low lights yet again. We let in 18 goals over last 3 games since last week video, you'd think there would be something. I'm sure yelling at the tv enough.
Carolina looking not so dumb now letting go of Ned.
@@IHateMyAccountName Ned overall has been good for us, keeping us in games that otherwise would get ugly. Our defense is horrible once you get by Seider.
But anyway, Det Ned will be on next week's dang it for sure, if not, I'm gonna question this whole channel.
I’m right here with you. Ned has been great overall but we basically only have 1 defenseman that’s capable so it’s finally really starting to show. Going from a team like Carolina to Detroit that’s a big change.
Ekblad slashing Crosby across the stomach right that goal after should have been a call, goal or not. That's not professional conduct, and would be penalized in any other sport. THAT is the dang-it in this play.
Uh no. How many times you see players getting crosscheck to their knees late after a goal scored in front of the net and it not be called? Happens all the time.
@@appealtoreason7584 those are ALSO a problem, not a reason why this isnt a problem.
The stick over the board reminds me of Ryane Clowe playing the puck from the bench.
I remember that. He was with the Sharks at the time, wasn't he?
Brendan Gallagher had a point.
16:43 for the "IF YOU'RE A GOALTENDER, TEND THE GOAL!!" I was worried it wasn't coming.
So Markstrom:
A: completely whiffs on the dump in control and takes his sweet ass time getting back into position
B: gives up a bad rebound off a teammate's skate
C: still fails to get into a good position to block the obvious follow up shot
But yeah keep yelling at the ref
Love ALL the model shots for the merch, Was not expecting that.
I noticed that there were no AV's dang its. Dang right! Proudcer Drew, I have back! 😂 Great video as always.
Every referee out there watched at 6:06 and collectively said, "Dang it!"
Hey Steve love the content! If you see this I think your camera shots would benefit from you being slightly smaller in frame. Perhaps move 6 inches away from the camera? Thanks as always!
Did. Did Steve just call my Yotes the hottest team atm? I am Dreaming?
AWOOOOOOO
I say:
IF YOUR A FORWARD,FORWARD!
IF YOUR A LEFT WINGER,WING LEFT!
IF YOUR A RIGHT WINGER,WING RIGHT!
IF YOUR A DEFENDER,DEFEND!
IF YOUR A CENTER,STARE & WAIT FOR THE PUCK!LMAO
That was brilliant Steve, and I totally agree with you on the goaltenders TENDING THE GOAL!
It hilarious to watch some goalies playing the puck my favorite teams goalie is Alex Nedeljkovic and he is FANTASTIC at playing the puck and if you watch him he always looks and takes a second to make the play
that Edmonton/Montreal one should have been NOTHING or at worst 2 each, you can't have your stick touching the ice.
Skinner gets an honorary dangit for the flailing attempt at a backhand with the empty net.
For me the second Ekblad own goal was a doubble dangit, why does he give crosby a smack with his stick after the goal?
Fav clip “stick on ice” Oilers & Habs game.
I once got a penalty in MINOR HOCKEY by having the blade of my stick perpendicular to the bench (pointed out) hanging over the ice.
YES!!! there's the Wild clip i was looking for! Thank you Steve!....i knew i would see it here!
Wouldn't having your stick over the bench wall and on the ice elicit a "too many men" penalty?
Not when refs call games for bookies no.
Habs fan here: having any part of you, including the stick, dangling over the ice is not a penalty in itself. Some people will incorrectly cite the rules and forget to mention that a player from the bench needs to actually IMPACT play in order to be called for a penalty. Now, his stick impeding Gallagher would certainly be a penalty, although I can't guarantee it'd be called. However, Gallagher decidedly INITIATES contact with the stick, so that's a factor, not to mention he doesn't just initiate contact but rather knocks the stick out of the player's hands. Was he holding on lightly? Probably. But what's key here is that Gallagher goes over, initiates contact on purpose, and knocks the stick out of the player's hands. I do think the player shouldn't be in the playing space and so offsetting minors would definitely be a good call here but the idea that only Gallagher is called isn't as ludicrous as people would lead you to believe.
If I were to rank these options though, I'd still go:
1. Offsetting
2. Penalty on Yamamoto
3. Penalty on Gallagher
@@lemurking6896 What? Hell no. If you are actively IMPEDING my play, and I decide to do something about it instead of waiting for it to impact the play I should not be penalized. This should be a Yamamoto penalty all day. Especially considering lifting the stick of the opposing team is COMPLETELY LEGAL. So if anything it was Yamamoto not in control of his stick. Initiating contact is not a penalty in anyway. The stick is on the ice it is in play and therefore fair game.
@@espygaming5101 I can't say what Gallagher did was "COMPLETELY LEGAL", as you claim, given that it is a penalty to interfere with a player on the bench while you are on the ice AND that Gallagher wasn't actively impeded by the stick and had the option not to whack at it. I understand that you'll say the player isn't "on the bench" given that his stick is entirely in the playing area but I don't think the player technically qualifies as being in play. For me, it's more in a gray area - I can see why a ref might or might not call it, from a rulebook perspective. I'm not sure if you read my comment in its entirety because I list a 2 minute EDM powerplay as my least preferred option here, as I feel Yamamoto's stick dangling on the ice is more egregious than what Gallagher did.
Very well say about Gallagher, and then showing the Ovy hook...those ref... Anyways, Seattle - Montreal game, Montembeault and Wideman, dang-its!
I know it was too late for this weeks edition, but the red wings own goal from tonight’s game is absolutely a dang it for next week
Like the Spanish Inquisition, Minnesota defense never expected that Skinner could jaunt around their wall.
I litterally thought "I hope someone blows a tire this week" right before starting this
It,s Wayne Gretzky day,s all over again were the favorite,s of the game and the ref's control the game "hey Wayne if you say it happen I'll believe you" lol 🤣👍🏼 great
my INSTANT sabres fan reaction to “toe in the crease”
"use your brain conduct" LOL
I have an indescribable respect for players that will dive head-first to block a shot.
Hey Steve Dangle... I was watching that Matt Murray dang it!!!!! At my Local Heroes Sports bar in Ottawa and yell out " IF YOU'RE A GOALTENDER, TEND THE GOAL!!!!" People cheered cause they watch your vids too
I could maybe see delay of game for Gallagher, but also too if the bench is putting sticks on the ice. I do not see how you can interfere with someone not currently playing
Lol, I saw that Keller goal as part of the montage in Hat-Picks and wondered if it would show up in Dang-Its too.
Steve! We don’t talk about that moment.
I love when someone just falls over and you remember that the players are doing these incredible feats of athleticism on ICE
Where is Kyle Palmieri getting 2 goals taken away by review in the same game? How is that not a double dang it?
If you are a goalie who is behind their goal and you screwed up, honestly, just hold the puck against the boards until you get help. You are protected so its not like the other team can really just start cross checking you, so just body up against the boards and keep the puck caught up in your skates.
Anything is better than trying to stick handle, though.
That's A Double Dang It. It's Not Only If You're A Referee, You Don't Assist On A Goal!, But, It's Also, If You're A Goaltender, Tend The Goal! LOL
Red wings vs wild tonight (3/10/22). Red wings goalie swats at the puck and scored on himself “IF YOURE A GOALTENDER TEND THE…. oh wait he was…”
As a pens fan, I was so mad last night at that ovi missed call on the Oilers, cuz it got them a point closer to the pens and it pisses me off
Vasilevskiy has his own GT style "the splits"
I don't know. Cole Caufield's frozen slap shot seems pretty dang-it worthy to me. 8: 43 into the second period.
There needs to be a goalie "I'm gonna help" t-shirt too
sabres fan watching... hi, thanks for the memories, at least we beat eichel
I think the entire last week for the Avalanche could be just one big Dang-It.
Avs fan saying its true 😌
After getting put in check by the Hurricanes you mean and being shutout by a backup??? Yeah sounds about right to me.
Number 1 dang it had me rolling hahaha
The Ekblad trade comment got me, squinted my eyebrows for a moment haha
Gotta feel bad for Ekblad. He was trying his hardest to stop the Pens from scoring. I think both goals are in regardless of the puck hitting his stick.
I mean, the greatest goal scorer in hockey DID get a gift this week, but it was from Monahan in the Flames vs Capitals game...
One of the main reasons I always say I could never be a professional hockey player. Not because of the lack of talent or conditioning or motivation, those are obvious ones. But because I don't have the temper. I'd be kicked out so fast for sending refs home with broken teeth.
thing with that ref is, I remember people being always upset when the refs were against the wall because they couldn't slide the puck up the wall because the ref was in the way.
That time the ref's in the middle of the ice, barely moving, its kinda your own fault if you ping the puck off a guy who's barely moving and looking the other way.
Refs absolutely NEED to be available for the press to answer for these types of calls.
Fun week! Thanks gents
If that was anyone other than Brendan Gallagher, a penalty gets called against the guy on the bench and Gally gets a pat on the back
What makes the ekblad clips even worse is that it looks like bob would have had the save both times! lol
Next episode should include the missed call on matthews that cost them the game in OT
Austin Matthews missed out on the greatest highlight in NHL…he should have proceeded to go try to celebrate with Boeser! It would have been legendary!!
Anyone else hear the scream at 18:10 and thin k it was al player getting cup checked because of how Steve worded the intro to the clip?
I wonder if the Walman goal on Georgiev is gonna make it to Dang-Its next week?
How the hell was the Ducks OT too many men not on here? Rakell literally crossed the blue line with the puck while Henrique was still on the ice.
Thank you for sparing us Wings fans
i think the problem with the stick on the ice thing is....what Gallagher did made the situation worse by having the entire stick laying on the ice...would be super curious if he skated over the stick and got tripped up what would have happened...or if he just grabbed it and threw it on the habs bench....lol
I thought for a second he was going to yeet it into the stands. That would have been great (and probably not a penalty)
Oilers in the 3rd dominated this episode
I knew that Battle of AB one was going to be in here
That first Dang-It wasn’t even Kucherov’s(sp?) fault, that was his teammate (TB jersey #77) not properly signaling the pass and expecting Kuch to be there. He wasn’t, so #77 winds up looking like he GAVE THE PUCK AWAY FOR BEANS to Connor.
What, exactly, did #77 expect to happen? That Connor *wouldn’t* capitalize on that error?
