He was running harmonizing magician in what appeared to be an supreme king/odd-eyes deck. They could have done several things differently, but they chose death the moment they didn't put a single negate/disruption on the board. From what I could see, dude could have set scales, pendulum summoned, popped the non gate, scale, summoned a fusion/pendulum odd eyes from hand or ED, blew up scales to search a fusion spell, and put at least one odd eyes vortex on board while possibly making at least 1 link monster, depending on the other 3 cards. Still might have been OTK'd, but that would have been the optimal board, even with a brick hand, if he was running what I think he was.

With enough resources, you could end on a 4 material Apollousa + Vortex Dragon, that's 4 monster negates and an omni-negate. There's even a combo to turbo out Z-ARC on the first turn and just sit on a big 4K dragon that can't be destroyed lol
As far as combo decks go, Madolche is one of the worst since they're very easily bricked by just 1 interrupt and their defense even after finishing the whole combo isn't amazing. It is pretty fun if you can manage to beat a meta deck with it, but more often than not you're just going to get ash'd or Nibiru'd or herald'd or anything among those lines.

Madolches are adorable and I do think the XYZ era was the last point where Yugioh was functional. It was the right balance behind having a ton of cool effects but not having half hour long turns where card has an 3+ effects and killing them just means they draw 10 cards from the grave and instantly revive itself
Which part of the Xyz Era, pre Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy or post, because post you had to deal with a lot of degenerate crap as well. Also don't discount Duellist Alliance format or TOSS format, 2 of the best years the game has seen

Whenever I duel against a player with a madolche deck, I'm not even mad if they beat me. But Eldlich players? Oh. I can beat them yes, I don't lose all the time against them, but fuqqing hell is there a lot of them in gold.
Playing against madolche is fun. But against Eldlich... F them! As I begin to understand my cards better, eldlich by themselves is fine actually. Their atk is not over the top and their effect isn't crazy. But the cards that are used alongside them. Those abominations... Getting skill drained and imperial ordered. There was even a time that they limit my attribute to one, which for my dragonmaid deck is simply bad. Well, having him surrender because his monsters can't destroy my surviving monster while his LP is slowly emptying because IO is funny tho.
@@Dismiazs Right, Eldlich would honestly be pretty unimpressive if it weren't for the floodgates they run. I play Blue Eyes ritual turbo so if they don't get out imperial order I can sometimes have a chance, if they don't get out skill drain either they're basically sunk because otherwise the deck has no way to deal with a Chaos Max aside from Kaiju or other really specific tech options.
They aren't hard to beat but fun to mess with if they are too many in a single rank so I ran Relinquished with Kaijuu's and lots of Soul Drain, Droplet and 2 Denko Setta to punish their board.
As a Madolche player I gotta say the combo was kinda messy and flubbed but god dam am I not proud of her ^^ she's doing well and she will make it to plat for sure
oh man if i ever seen people using long-ass combos anymore i'll just surrender halfway cuz im already lost at that point oh yeah few days ago also battled some XYZ deck with crazy combos that just basically keep summoning XYZ monsters with each summon got 1000 attacks or what i don't really remember basically his fields is full of XYZ with attack of 4k each while i have no cards at all so it's free hit and im done dude's combo took like 5-10mins to pull it off and im just like what the fuck man i only play casually, if you pulled some sick combo like that i would never win

It irks me so much that they can actually direct hit the field with whatever cards they have on the field and win instantly but no, they like to waste people's time by xyz, linking and synchro chains 20 monsters. I don't really care if I lose, I just wanted the rewards by not surrendering.
You can basically stop them with Nibiru, Ash or Droll? Combo decks are notorious if your letting them pass the whole turn without stopping them. Much worse against noobs who read the cards and takes Minutes to even do 1 combo to the next, takes a usual 10-20min game to 30 mins due to reading and procrastinating.
there was a few misplays she couldve done better by using salon to normal summon another hootcake so with Al-a-modes 1st summon to get messenger instead of the second material detachment. (and since salon would be active, she could add another spell/trap like Ticket, so when she plays the field spell she couldve Special summoned ANOTHER Madolche)

I run a Dragon Maid deck. It's very funny to body Blue eyes decks with adorable Falco type dragons
