The Nissan Leaf ZE0 and ZE1 have a poorly designed boot and
    a badly placed subwoofer.
The Nissan Leaf top shock mount fills with water from the hole
that drains the water around the drivers side wiper.

I made a raised floor for my Leaf's boot. Quite easy and makes a great difference. :)

The reason you get water in the left cup is because it's below the wiper connection and the right side isn't,
We don't need battery cooling or heating in the UK when we only charge at home with just the few times a year rapid charging,
In countries where you have temperature highs of 40 C or lows of -25 then yes it would be better to have battery management,
    Love the video thanks.

I remember a few videos where the leaf had cooling issues with rapid charging a few times in a row, liquid cooling would definitely help and also there would be less degradation 👍

Yeah, no idea why they couldn't sort these things out - especially the shock-absorber mount.

Water comes from a drain hole deep inside the wiper spindle recess on the driver side. That drain isn't there on the passenger side. That's why one side is affected and the other is dry. Just cut 2" off the base of a 2 ltr coke bottle and its a nice fit over the entire driver side area. After cleaning and greasing of course.

The Ariya I have has a boot "false floor", seems like they learnt their lesson. That rusty shock bolt isn't really an issue, to remove the leg you'd just remove the three top bolts after unbolting the stuff at the bottom and remove the whole assembly. It may then be necessary to cut the nut off after compressing the spring but probably not that much of a big deal.

I have to say I'm not a fan of rusty bolts 👍👍

Worthy moans since they should fix problems found in the older/original version.

I bought my oval shaped strut caps from Driveev in New Zealand don't buy the the black circular ones as they are known to pop out. Clean out top of strut, rust treatment spray and add lithium grease. My Nissan Lafesta had rear seats folding upwards behind driver and passenger seats then the part of the rear seat that your back rest against folds down making the boot floor level with the back of the second row seats. It would be good if that was an ev

I remember finding that a tin can plastic lid was just the right size for this...

Caps from eBay don't work for me. There are better DIY solutions for the strut top mounts involving yoghurt pots, tuna cans or other ideas online. 😂

You may need an inductive heat tool to heat that nut before removal, but always spray grease those nuts as soon as you see they are exposed, it costs nothing and saves a lot of pains in the but… 😂

For me.. any hatchback that doesn't have a false floor, level with the rear seats. Then its a deal breaker for me. I recently took the latest Megane Scenic for a one day test drive. As soon as we saw the boot floor with no adjustable false floor... We were done. Forget the nice looks and long range! The boot of a hatchback is the deal breaker. Its what a hatchback is built for!

Thanks to your Leaf video, I know to cross off all Nissan Leafs on my eBay watch list. I couldn't live with those faults.

Main thing putting me off the leaf is the lack of liquid cooling and chademo as I would want to use iron long trips to the parents

Do your front windows rattle when open? This is something that really bugs me on my Leaf. Also had to disconnect the 12v battery sensor to force it to charge properly when driving and turning off the app otherwise 12v battery drains within a few days if not driven often or driving short distances 😢

Maybe all these Gen 2 flaws will be sorted out in the Gen 3 Leaf - if it is produced.

    • @grouchthatbarx
      @grouchthatbarx  18 дней назад +2

Most likely, as the next gen leaf will be a completely different car by the looks of it.

Can you get someone with a 3D printer, to print a cap for the shock. If I owned this EV, I would run some water onto the screen to see where the water is getting in, then try and fix with a sealant bead to divert the water away.

It the drain hole by the wiper spindle, it's directly above the shock mount

Just cut 2" off the bottom of a plastic 2 litre coke bottle and its a nice fit over the strut top area. Sheds all water coming from that wiper spindle drain hole.
